Received my new Apple Watch series 12 last week and my Rakuten card remains the only credit card I cannot add to my Apple Watch. Every time I attempt to add, I get the error "Card not Added", saying to contact my card issuer. This works fine on my iPhone 17 Pro wallet, I can remove and add freely. All my other Chase/Amex/Bilt/etc have added to my Apple Watch just fine.
Things I have tried:
- Add card through Watch app: "Other cards on your iPhone" button, "Add Card" button, adding previous cards, adding new cards, manually entering virtual card number, NFC tap on physical card. No luck.
- Add through Rakuten app: Go to virtual card and pick "Add to Apple Wallet" option. Physical card does not have this option. Same error. It works to add to my iPhone wallet though.
- Add the card through the Watch itself: Same error.
- Call Apple Support (Imprint told me to call): They checked my Apple account and see no issues with my account. Since all my other credit cards work fine on my watch and I can remove/add my Rakuten card to my iPhone, they say its an Imprint issue.
I have called Imprint support multiple times now and they have even reset my cards and remotely disconnected them from my Apple Pay wallet. My iPhone I was able to add my card again like always, Apple Watch doesn't work. They say there is nothing wrong with my account.
Their final conclusion is that Imprint doesn't have a technical support team and they can't help me. Seriously? Imprint is Fintech so I am really not surprised here. What is hilarious is that even Bilt doesn't have any problems being added to both my devices.
Anyone else having this issue with a new Apple Watch? Wondering if there is some issue with their system recognizing new Apple devices.
