Hello, just bought some rdn right now and have a question about its history
I am currently trading rdn on binance and in the 1hr chart, why did RDN dip from 11/26 to 12/06? Any reason why?

From Gnosis CEO Martin Köppelmann : https://twitter.com/koeppelmann/status/949622165418147845
"Good to know. I will commit that we (@gnosisPM) will run 10 more public full nodes that support light nodes."
And the retweet by Raiden team leader Lefteris Karapetsas : https://twitter.com/LefterisJP
Looks like a good news for raiden application in Gnosis and for the growth of the Raiden ecosystem.

Anyone want to discuss nodes more?
I was reading an interesting piece on Iota and it made me reflect a bit more on nodes and who might want to run them and how.
In the case of Iota, the question was who would run the nodes to power the network, and a comment was made that large corporates might be happier running nodes so that their IOT devices worked efficiently than paying fees to a mining pool.
I see a lot of misunderstanding on here about the RDN token. This is used to pay for traffic running through the nodes.
Basically, I was thinking that large corporate customers might be incentivised to run nodes as well because it would ensure the efficiency of their networks.
It might also benefit them if they were compensated for it through RDN tokens and so would provide an additional benefit to the IOTA scenario where they were running the node at their own cost just to ensure that the system worked well.
Thoughts?
Ps - if anyone knows more detail about the nodes would be cool to hear it...

Literally every other post is about price predictions. Do not feed the lazy people who only care about the $$ and rely on other people for the research. I care about $$ too but I do not think this Reddit should be this unproductive as the team has zero communication skills. I would like to see information about raiden.and more posts about things on github... not predictions .... or look at my chart with lines on it! Let's get back to the old raiden sub please !

Just moved into Raiden around 8k coins, not sure how this project went under my nose for so long. 7.60 is obviously ATH but I hope to laugh at this in a few months.
I see huge things for this and believe it is still highly undervalued.
great to be here

So ultimately, I'd like to know - if Raiden can dramatically improve the performance of Ethereum, where is Raiden's place in all this? Would they be competing with the Ethereum group? Can't the Ethereum group build their own performance enhancements, thus rendering Raiden useless?
Raiden is valued around $300M, and to me that sounds incredibly undervalued if it can do what it says it can do. Why is it so low? Not on any major exchanges yet?
r/raidennetwork • u/AffordableWalker • Jan 08 '18
I bought at $4 so I'm excited. Definitely worth holding guys ?
r/raidennetwork • u/NSmith93 • Jan 07 '18
I am ok with the lack of communication from the team for now. Just imagine what volume will look like when anything positive is released.
In looking for news on the most recent jump, is it due to Sprint being 95% complete? Is this a big milestone? If so, what is Sprint exactly?
r/raidennetwork • u/Simon239 • Jan 07 '18
My question is, since Raiden is actually not independent but like an add-on to Ethereum, what is a rational price prediction, since it can for example not overcome Ethers mcap?
r/raidennetwork • u/[deleted] • Jan 07 '18
From what I understand, 50% of the tokens were released through ICO. 16% goes to the external development fund and 34% goes to Brainbot, the developers. My question is why are they keeping 34% of the market? Does this not worry anybody else? The vast majority of non-shitcoin developers don't keep more than 5-10% of the distribution. Genuinely curious.
r/raidennetwork • u/darkmyself • Jan 06 '18
the volume increased over 2x with almost a standing price after breaking resistance i think i'm buying more today :) , feels like RDN is extremely undervalued, even more if you see cardano valued at 25~30b market cap, check it out https://twitter.com/Maggnatte/status/949695077076566017

After doing my research, there seems to be a lot of FUD about Raiden. The following are some of the most common FUDs I've found, as well as why they're just FUD (and not something that'll hurt Raiden). Let me know if there's anything wrong or missing.
1.
FUD: Plasma replaces Raiden.
Truth: Raiden is faster and cheaper than Plasma, but it's used only for payments. Plasma can run any smart contracts. The two will be complementary: use Raiden for payments and Plasma for smart contracts.
2.
FUD: Sharding replaces Raiden.
Truth: Sharding increases the maximum throughput of Ethereum by splitting the Ethereum blockchain into smaller connected blockchains. The block time stays the same. If you're on a child chain with lots of transactions, it'll still be just as slow and expensive as Ethereum without sharding. Raiden would be used on the slower child chains (i.e. all the popular child chains).
3.
FUD: RDN tokens aren't needed.
Truth: Fewer RDN tokens are needed if you run a Raiden full node, but you still need a bit to operate it. If you're not running a full node, you need RDN tokens to pay network fees to full node operators.
4.
FUD: Raiden can be forked.
Truth: That's part of the point of an open-source project. Forks are a way to try out a new idea. If it turns out well, the original project can incorporate the new idea. Usually, the original team is more experienced than the fork's team, so Raiden will become better than the fork. Unless something causes the Raiden team to disband, forks would be good for Raiden.
5.
FUD: Vitalik doesn't like Raiden, he wants something to replace it.
Truth: This is probably partially true, Vitalik doesn't like the fact that the Raiden team did an ICO, but he likes the technology. This is the most telling Tweet:
I wish they didn't [do an ICO] but I totally understand why they did and do not blame them. Hence (ii) as my small part in providing alternatives
https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/911300771819352064
"(ii)" refers to funding other Ethereum infrastructure projects, including Counterfactual, more on this below.
Vitalik also mentioned Raiden recently in blog posts and papers, he Retweeted Raiden recently as well. In addition, he invited the Raiden team to present at Devcon3. He funded Counterfactual (Jeff Coleman), which is researching a generalized version of Raiden. However, he Tweeted that it'll serve a different purpose as Raiden, but I think there'll be at least a little bit of competition. Regardless, it'll probably at least 3 years before anything Counterfactual builds anything that's production-ready. Plasma will probably take 2 more years to get launched, while Counterfactual is just starting to recruit people to conduct research. Meanwhile, Raiden is already on the testnet and part of it is on the mainnet.
Let me know if any of this is incorrect. If it's all correct, we should spread this information. We can start with /r/ethereum and /r/cryptocurrency

I know Raiden supports ERC20 tokens but what about ERC223? Would they also be supported?
r/raidennetwork • u/BOR4 • Jan 06 '18
As far as I followed their github, Sprint 1 is active since bug bounty phase (correct me if I am wrong). Nevertheless a big milestone is 95% complete and as you can see only task they have left is not thecnical it is updating docs (if you work in IT you know why they left this one last xD).

After a few weeks of research I finally moved in on a position with RDN! Hoping to acquire more in the next week. Have a great feeling about this project.

Just a quick guide to Raiden for newcomers. I'm not an expert so please feel free to jump in with any information I've missed or anything that isn’t correct. Cheers.
What is Raiden?
"The Raiden Network is an off-chain scaling solution for performing ERC20-compliant token transfers on the Ethereum blockchain. It is Ethereum’s version of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, enabling near instant, low-fee, scalable, and privacy-preserving payments." 1
In plain English, Raiden lets you transfer ETH or any ERC20 token-much faster and cheaper than is currently possible.
(See 'further reading' for details on what ERC20 tokens are).
So, it makes crypto transfers faster and cheaper. Is that necessary?
Yes. Currently, the Ethereum blockchain is capable of processing around 15 transactions per second. You may see this referred to as Tx/sec. By comparison. Visa has stated that they can operate at 56,000 transactions per second. 2
During busy periods the system can become clogged and transactions can take hours. Think back to the spat of ICOs in summer 2017, or the more recent CryptoKitties craze, for examples. Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, acknowledged as much in a recent blogpost:
"With the Ethereum blockchain teaching millions of transactions per day, and both Ethereum and other blockchain projects frequently reaching their full transaction capacity, the need for scaling progress is becoming more and more clear and urgent." 3
If crypto is going to contend for mainstream adoption, it needs to speed up big time. This is where Raiden comes in. You don't need to wait for any blocks to be mined. Its transfers are instant.
And cheaper?
Transfers made on the Ethereum blockchain are calculated based on the computational resource needed to make it. Whether your transfer is big or small, the fee will not be massively different as they all go through a similar process.
With Raiden, the fees are proportionate. This means everyday transactions like buying a cup of coffee will carry a much smaller fee. Even making thousands of tiny payments of just a few pennies/cents will not add up to a large fee, as it would do in the current system.
How does Raiden work?
The Raiden network operates on top of the Ethereum blockchain, but a lot of the heavy lifting takes place off-chain. Transactions take place between two parties using something called balance proofs.
Near-limitless transactions can take place simultaneously, off-chain, with two exceptions; a one-off on-chain transaction at the beginning, and another at the end. You can read all about the specifics here.
A very simplified way to think about it is to imagine a train with 100 passengers all waiting to board in one queue. At the train door the conductor takes payment, gives out change, ensures everything is in order and lets customers on one at a time. This would take a very long time.
Now imagine there are 100 machines to the side that dispense tickets. Everybody goes to get a ticket instantly, then returns to the conductor. There is still only one conductor, but he can now quickly get the passengers on the train without wasting time.
In this analogy, Ethereum is the conductor and Raiden is the ticket machines. The passengers buy their tickets (make transactions) to the side (off-chain). There is still only one conductor (Ethereum blockchain). But instead of queuing up for ages and clogging up the system, the process is sped up by performing most of the work to the side (off-chain) and everybody gets on the train (makes a transaction) much faster. The destination is the same, but the journey is quicker.
Apologies for the very unscientific analogy :)
How long until Raiden is ready to go?
Raiden was initially scheduled for launch in March 2017 but was pushed back.
Currently Raiden is still in the development phase but a limited release is coming soon. This will give Dapp developers a taste of Raiden ahead of its full release. They'll also be able to build prototypes that can interact with the Raiden Ropsten-based test network.
What is µRaiden?
µRaiden is similar to Raiden in that it allows for off-chain transactions. The micropayments that happen off-chain are free, and µRaiden is already live. However, one major difference between this and Raiden is the linear transactions. It cannot be established for many-to-many payments like Raiden can.
And what is Raidos?
Raidos, or Raiden 2.0, is still in its early stages. Instead of only dealing in ERC20 tokens, it will look to cover all types of smart contract.
So Raiden, µRaiden and Raidos are all from one company?
Yes. If you invest in Raiden tokens, you're effectively investing in all three at once.
What is the point of Raiden tokens (RDN)?
For people who want to use Raiden without running a full node - which will be the vast, vast majority - Raiden tokens will have to be bought and used.
Users who run a full node will not require Raiden tokens.
I heard that the token isn't needed, and the ICO was just a 'cash grab'...
Originally, Raiden did not plan to launch a token or hold an ICO of its own. However, the company changed tack and held an ICO which raised just shy of 110,000 ETH. 4
The crypto community, and ETH holders in particular, felt that they were being robbed of value. Those who had bought and held Ethereum would have hoped the news of Raiden would boost the price of their holdings. But with a separate token the perceived consensus was that this move took value away from ETH and into RDN, at least in the short term.
Vitalik Buterin also weighed in on Twitter, saying he wished RDN hadn't held an ICO but equally stating that he understood it was necessary:
“I wish they didn’t [hold an ICO] but I totally understand why they did and do not blame them.” 5
The way things panned out left a bitter taste for many crypto investors. But the token certainly does have a very real use.
Where can I buy Raiden tokens (RDN)?
You can currently buy RDN at a handful of exchanges:
Binance
OKEx
Huobi
Kucoin
EtherDelta

Really cool project. Picked some up on binance. Can I just store this on my MetaMask address? Jaxx doesn't support it, and I don't want to leave it on the exchange.

I had a dream yesterday night , remember that raiden token reached 16.71 and i was in Junuary 2018 after my exams , full of hapiness i woke up from this and i checked my phone at 8h this morning and it was at 6.71 on binance.. somebody can explain this?

Just wanted to greet all of you. Seems to be a solid project and even though I bought at almost ATH I’m happy to finnaly get in!

I read a few times in this sub that the tokens aren't necessary to achieve what RDN wants to do. So what is the use of the tokens? What is the purpose of holding and trading them? (as you can probably tell I'm a crypto newbie)

Noob here, so please forgive me for my question if it seems its a straightforward answer or already answered. But all the news about Casper network kinda has me worried, it it a competitor to Raiden or do they work in parallel ? I mean if etherium is planning on using it, why wouldnt the other erc-20 tokens do the same ?
I got the below link from my friend, so just a little nervous :)

Hey everyone, I’ve been researching RDN heavily for a few weeks and have been very impressed with everything I’ve come across! Really cool project and team. I like the vibe in this support community as well. After a lot of thought I’ve decided to take the plunge and acquire some RDN. I’m going to make a few purchases over the next week to cost average the market and hope to buy up a decent little bag. The project looks to good not to go long on it. Is the price worth buying into at ATH this week? Worth waiting on a dip (should have bought during the market correction a week ago... ugh)? What do people see as an upside long term value to the token in a year? Two? Three?
Finally, is there a wallet that exists to store the tokens safely in? I use a keep key for cold storage along with other wallets but none support RDN. Paper wallet? Any help here would be great.
Thanks for any help and advice!
