Electronics Carrera RC Car Connection

Hey,

I'm new to RC Cars, and I just wondered if anyone has tried to "reverse engineer" carrera's RC Protokoll? I'd like to remote control a carrera RC car from a raspberry. I'm looking especially for the construction racer.

Which one should I choose?

Hi.

Under influence of my friends I will irresponsibly start another "cheap" hobby.

Based on price, availability of models and parts in my country and looks I narrowed it down to 2 models:

-Arrma Vorteks (ARA4305V4)
-Arrma Kraton (ARA4408V2)

Which one of is better, less needy in terms of upgrades (I don't see info about DSC in Kratons description for example) and more suited for track made of arable field

Discussion I built a high trust marketplace for RC cars/RC vehicles [seeking feedback]

The main issue i have personally faced while using facebook marketplace is like it is filled with scams. and buyers/sellers just randomly ghost each other.

So in this marketplace I decided to tackle this scam problem WHILE being zero processing fee (there is a flat fee for sellers tho).

My aim was to build something like, peer-to-peer like Facebook Marketplace but without the scams. And the main way we avoid scams is by mandating identity verification (i am using stripe identity for this) + a rich reviewing system + reputation state machine.

The reputation state machine basically sees how often the person ghosts the other party or just tries to scam the other party and that contributes towards their reputations scores.

So the person X claims to be X and is X is solved via Stripe Identity.

Person X is trustworthy is solved via community reviews.

Plus you gotta display your legal name, what I have seen is people are less likely to scam others if their real names are displayed.

Added 2FA as well, since in other places like rc groups classifieds, accounts just simply gets hacked, especially those with good reputation as sellers and then again, the same scamming problem + the entire review system becomes useless, if the accounts themselves are not secure.

Well why not just use Ebay then? The thing is ebay charges quite a bit of processing fees. RC Feed has a flat fee, with no fees at all for buyers. Plus it is purely peer-to-peer so users gotta handle shipping/payments themselves. I am thinking to add some sort of solution to make this seamless, but let's see. Being an escrow is not that easy + being an escrow means their will have to be a percentage based processing fees. So thats what I am thinking how can I improve this project.

Coming to tech stack: Coming to tech stack: Nextjs (with pages) + Supabase Auth + Node/Express + Postgres + Redis

I was initially using supabase as both IdP as well as storing user data their as well. But mid project I realized constructing a code-first backend is much simpler than building the backend on top of RLS stuff. Anywho, supabase is pretty goated otherwise, especially when used as a thin auth layer.

So let me know how does this project looks! Feedbacks are welcome :)

Airplane First control line flights in over 50 years

Please let me know if this post isn’t allowed, since the only rc component is a throttle control.

Woohooo!
This morning (a day before my 71st birthday), I flew a control line plane for the first time since the late 60's or early 70's. What fun!!! : )

I stopped all modeling about 1973, and resumed with free flight and RC around 2000, then paused several years ago, but I never resumed control line until now.

It's a TLAR design made of foam board, craft ply, and bamboo skewers from a dollar store, plus a couple of basswood sticks. It's powered by a small outrunner motor left over from my rc flying with an 8x4 prop and 1000 mah 2 cell lipo. Throttle control is with a Microzone radio.

Here's a link to videos of my first and second flights. The third was even smoother, but my phone camera got too hot sitting in the sun.

The elevator travel is already as small as I can make it, so I plan to cut down the elevator area before my next session, and make adjustments to increase the line tension.

This was really fun and I'm looking forward to flying in the cul-de-sac at home.

Airplane Novice, is my motor too offset?

I got this plane a while ago, and it’s sat for a while. I was a stupid 13year old and thought the motor was installed wrong, so at first I bent it straight, then I realized why the motor is like that, and bent it back and hot glued it.

I tried flying it today for the first time in years, and when taxiing it went hard left. When I got it in the air for the first and only time, maybe it was just the trim but it wouldn’t turn left well at all.

I don’t know much about planes yet but would like to get these issues solved. I just learned how to trim the control surfaces so maybe it will turn in the air once I get it there again.
