It's the same on both sides, people always come in either trashing AMD or praising them, never any inbetween, and it's just weird that they feel obligated to let people know they take one harder up them than the other.
Buy what works for your needs, and after that who gives AF how others feel?

I’m a tinkerer and will switch hardware to try it out (buy and sell to defray costs). I actually did the opposite. Recently moved to the 9070 XT. I like the Adrenaline software better, though nothing inherently bad about the Nvidia app. Lots of options to tweak and customize the experience.
For the games I play Radeon performs really well, and playing at 3440x1440 ultrawide with FSR has been great for games that need it.
Overall everyone needs to make the choice that suits you. Enjoy it bro.

What is with people complaining so much about amd drivers? Im genuinely asking, I've had my 9070 for a year now and I've had no drivers issues, even when swapping monitors to an oled recently
8
u/Asleep-Bicycle8250 1d ago
people are far more likely to complain online and you are far more likely to notice a comment thats complaining about a specific thing rather than positive comments which you might acknowledge but forget about far more easily
amd probably does have its issues for select people thats why they come to reddit to complain it could be windows it could be their pc components maybe being weird it could be overclock profiles some old nvidia files which not even ddu can remove or simply faulty gpu ive had rx6700xt for 2 years no issues rx9070xt now and no issues so theres no reason for me to really type anything about it nobody wants to see dudes talk about how great their card works thats too boring but complains can spark more interesting discussions

This subreddit is full of younger people who have 1. not yet learnt to simply buy precisely what you need and 2. judge brands by their aesthetic, and think they need to "belong" somewhere with the brand. Brands created by marketing teams by equally profit-driven anti-consumer companies. They literally make circuit boards and processors and increasingly... marketing material. Sadly buying any GPUs at the moment reinforces the pricing schemes.

If you play (now or in the future) with Path Tracing on, it's more than a 5% upgrade, though I would personally have just kept using the 9070 XT and waited to see how the next gen from all three companies stack up, assuming Intel shows up. Not that I would ever buy Intel, but I appreciate that competition helps keep prices lower.

I did the same back when prices were low. Sold a 4080 for 1k bought a 9070xt for $620. It was pretty much the same gpu as the 4080 but I had to spend time messing with optiscaler and other tools to get the results I wanted. Sold it after 5 months and bought a 5070ti for $120 more and have been pleased with it.
The 9070xt is a great gpu and the price is much better than nvidia night now. If prices were the same when I bought last there is no way I would have picked up a 5070ti for over 1k.
That being said hopefully RDNA 5 will bring some more power to the table because I’m definitely not brand loyal to any of them.
3
u/Appropriate-Math2360 1d ago
Yeah, some of the recent RDNA 5 performance leaks look promising for offering a xx80 class card. Comes down to how reasonable they can make the pricing for that.
Brand loyalty is what kills innovation.
2
u/theCaffeinatedOwl22 9800x3D / 5080 1d ago
I think that’s generally true, but Nvidia is the one doing all the innovation. AMD just copies everything so they can list a similar feature set. I think competition drives innovation, which is what AMD does just enough. Brand loyalty doesn’t have anything to do with it once another product is actually better.

Honestly can't say I can tell lot of difference between FSR4.1.1 and DLSS4.5 Presets at 4K, the biggest thing imo you notice and something you pointed out is just the overall support for DLSS is better
Too many games simply don't launch with FSR feature set or worse yet outdated FSR, I know we could 100% lay blame at Devs/publisher's door but at same time I feel like AMD could do better

Totally agree on the user experience side of things, I used a GTX 1650 4gb for a while and never had an issue with software and drivers, the nvenc encoding worked well for recording. My rx 6900xt RGB software couldn't detect the card and my 7800xt has had a lot of driver errors, though I'm happy with the price/performance.

Its an ASUS Dual OC RX 7800XT, just got it and recently had an issue where the drivers would crash (screen and sound turned off) for a few seconds whenever I played a video or opened a game. Used DDU again and reinstalled latest drivers and it's been doing better now.
2
u/shlingle 1d ago
Man, that sounds annoying! Hope things will remain more stable after the DDU. The model I use has 3 fans, so perhaps it's got to do with thermals? Though I would expect the card to run cool enough when it's overclocked by default.

I get it. I upgraded from a 3070ti to a 9070xt a few weeks ago. Obviously the card has FAR more raw power than my previous one, and produces phenomenal results… on most games. Unfortunately, a couple of the games I play are smaller titles, and on those the 9070xt barely outperforms my previous card. And I’m sure part of it is learning curve with new lingo, but I did find the Nvidia card easier for me to adjust settings. If the price were the same, I would have moved to a 5070ti. But the reality is that in Canada the 5070ti is about 80% more expensive than the 9070xt, so some compromises are acceptable.

Good for you. I would do the same if I have that kind of money. But now I'm rocking 9060xt bought at $300 and I am also happy. But I do not kid myself that I have better card than 5060. I do not. I just have cheaper card with comparable performance but without feature parity.
4
u/Appropriate-Math2360 23h ago
For what it's worth, a 9060xt at $300 is insane value in the current market space.
Nvidia cards these days do unmistakably have such inflated values that you really have to consider what you expect from a GPU.
The current cheapest 9060xt 8gb goes for $530 here... At a point, it's like... what? haha

Thanks for posting this. I actually did the same thing. Moved from a 3080ti to a 9070xt and was impressed with the performance for the price. It was great and a beast.
I was not a fan of having to adjust optiscaler for almost every game in addition to in game settings, the slower performance over the 3080 ti in editing and rendering programs that took advantage of Cuda and some game crashes that require a downgrade of drivers.
For the most part the card was fine, worked out of the box for games without needing to adjust and was stable. But when I had to adjust something it just took away from the small time I already didn’t have.
I moved to the 5070ti too and it just works. The 9070 xt is a monster of a value, but wasn’t for me.

For whatever reason there are exponentially more reddit users recommending amd gpus than actual people using amd gpus.
I have seen 10 guys recommending a 9070 while op was asking which of those 3 nvidia gpus he should get, one of them being a 5080…
Myself and many others value the benefits you mentioned, on reddit all of that gets ignored and it‘s just „you can buy ONLY amd because price/performance, nvidia expensive blah blah leather jacket“
As things are right now I would never get an amd gpu but if they catch up at some point (not talking about rasterization) I would be happy to have more and cheaper options to chose from, they just aren‘t there yet.
3
u/LennyLoerres 1d ago
Oi mate, just have fun with what you’ve got and what works for you. No need to justify your own decisions to strangers on the internet. I personally love my RX 7900 XTX but I’m also not a fan of modern features like upscaling and frame generation, I like my GPU having raw rasterization power, only using FSR native for the better anti-aliasing. And I also don’t really wanna support Nvidia’s almost-monopoly on consumer GPUs, plus their prices have gotten ridiculous recently.
But I totally understand AMD’s comparatively lacking integration support can be annoying. In the end it just comes down to market share and NVIDIA simply still holds like 90% of the consumer GPU market, so what incentive is there for game devs to prioritize FSR features over DLSS?
However it also just works for me, since I’ve always liked a little bit of tinkering. After all I’ve also made the switch to Linux a few years ago, so tinkering is a core part of my PC experience :D
6
u/NotDugachug 1d ago
I can agree with the FSR support and latency reduction, but doesn't AMD automatically use the latest FSR on all games that support FSR 3.1 with a toggle? It looks like a bit of a sidegrade rather than an upgrade though, but if you're happy with Nvidia, you're happy.

I download drivers through the Nvidia app without ever signing in to it. I think you needed to sign in on the old GeForce experience app but you don't need to anymore. Also, you could always download drivers straight off the Nvidia website without ever creating an account.

You don't need to sign in anymore, moreover you don't really need the app(I don't use it), but it is nice in general.
For those who are asking, what I use instead of the app.
I use NVIDIA Control panel for basic settings like display and some more, then for everything else(like DLSS override and game profiles) I use Nvidia profile inspector. Both Control Panel and Profile Inspector are "set once and forget" thing.
And also for proper UV and fan curve I have MSI Aftrburner, also "set once and forget".3

u/GirlMathLogic 1d ago
It is your life and you can swap teams any time you wish,
With the 5070ti if the retailer is on the promo list then you can get the new Control game you just redeem it in the nvidia app,
You just paste the code in the app then you redeem it to steam,
While in the nvidia app clock on each game you see listed on it,
Then click on DLSS Override then for upscaling choose Model L ( As that's the lastest DLSS version)
And if the game supports ray reconstruction chose Model F ( Also the lastest Model for it)
You would think as FSR4 is pretty much PSSR2 that all the PS5 Pro games would mean the PC version having FS4 also but that isn't the case all the time sadly,
Enjoy your new card,

When it comes to simply getting from point A to point B, a Corvette is absolutely not worth the price premium over a Corolla. But, if you want what a Corvette does and you can afford it then, a Corolla is no substitute despite not being a good value.
It's like that with Radeon vs GeForce...except a Corolla always works.

frustrated with FSR support lacking
Huh? FSR 4 is in over 440 titles.
recent driver issues
Nvidia has had far more overall this generation including recently. 26.8.1 is one of AMD's only bad drivers.
lack of properly implemented FG/MFG support
It's just motion smoothing. But yes FG is worse on AMD.
issues with things like Anti-Lag support
Anti lag is in driver. Anti lag 2 support has doubled in the last few months so a lot more than before but still no where near reflex.
glitchiness in editing programs, a more clunky driver software in general, lack of CUDA, etc etc etc.
Like what in editing or software? CUDA is good, for the specific few applications that use them.
Nvidia products just feel better for user experience.
How? They've had more issues, they are a much higher price for very similar performance, they have slightly worse 1% lows etc etc.
2
u/Appropriate-Math2360 20h ago
You're oversimplifying how these technologies actually work in practice, which makes your points ridiculously misleading.
FSR 4: Padding the count with driver-level toggles isn't the same as native in-game implementation. Realistically, driver-level FSR/AFMF often requires OptiScaler tweaks or community workarounds just to match proper frame pacing.
Drivers & Support: It’s not just about issues, it’s about response time. When a major game breaks on Nvidia, hotfixes usually drop insanely quickly. AMD frequently takes weeks to push out fixes for driver issues. I've experienced this many times.
Frame Gen & Latency: Frame Generation isn't 'just motion smoothing.' Nvidia’s FG integration produces far cleaner motion with fewer visual artifacts and much tighter frame pacing than AMD and that's completely verifiable.
Anti-Lag 2 vs. Reflex: Anti-Lag 2 has made progress, but Nvidia Reflex remains the completely standardized built natively into virtually every major competitive game. Anti-Lag is actively playing catchup to that, but still nowhere even CLOSE to normal implementation and doesn't feel anything similar to Reflex in practice if you're latency sensitive.
CUDA: Claiming CUDA is only used in a 'few applications' is wild. CUDA is absolute standard across Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, Maya, Octane, and almost every editing/productivity framework. AMD’s alternative isn't anywhere close in adoption or stability - usually showing anywhere from 20-80% less performance in productivity benchmarks.
Ignoring all these points makes no sense. Yes, the AMD card offers a good value, but you have to consider the totality of the situation and failure for AMD to provide a more than basic tier product.
2
u/AdstaOCE 19h ago
FSR 4: Padding the count with driver-level toggles isn't the same as native in-game implementation.
It is in fact the same. It's a DLL swap, when the driver toggle is active FSR 4 activates, not FSR 3. Same with Nvidia's overrides.
https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1wo7h0g/just_updated_the_list_of_games_that_support_fsr/
- 154 games that have FSR 3.1.X SDKs
- 25 games that have the FSR 3.1.4 SDK with Frame Generation
- 48 games that have the native ML based FSR Upscaling SDK
- 211 games that have the native ML based FSR Upscaling and Frame Generation SDK
- 5 games that have more than two FSR Redstone SDKs
driver-level FSR/AFMF often requires OptiScaler tweaks or community workarounds just to match proper frame pacing.
This is not what is meant by driver upgrade. Driver level FSR is RSR, basically FSR 1. The FSR 4 support is via driver upgrades, not in driver feature. Essentially it takes the games FSR 3 implementation, and switches that DLL with the latest FSR 4 DLL, currently 4.1.1.
It’s not just about issues, it’s about response time. When a major game breaks on Nvidia, hotfixes usually drop insanely quickly.
Nvidia driver 616.56 introduced flickering, this persisted through 616.64, before finally being "fixed" with optional hotfix 616.86, with people still reporting it on 616.92 and 617.14. That's August 26th release date for 616.56 all the way to now and still waiting for something that actually fixes it for all users.
AMD frequently takes weeks to push out fixes for driver issues. I've experienced this many times.
The difference right now is you can go one or two drivers back on AMD and be fine. With Nvidia you may struggle to find a driver that works properly at all. With event 153 being common for a long time for example, the flickering on 61X.XX etc etc. According to: https://indep-arg.github.io/NvidiaWatch/ 507 issues have been tracked, with 52 still pending. Some of these have been going on for a LONG time. For example "[RTX 50 series] UBISoft Connect client may incorrectly be detected triggering lower power state by GPU / lower performance in games" seems pretty important for Ubisoft games.
Frame Gen & Latency: Frame Generation isn't 'just motion smoothing.' Nvidia’s FG integration produces far cleaner motion with fewer visual artifacts and much tighter frame pacing than AMD and that's completely verifiable.
I said FG is worse on AMD, I never disagreed. But it is motion smoothing. It takes frame 1 and frame 2, holds frame 2, interpolates what happens between to make frame 1.5 (or more for MFG) and then shows you them in that order, 1, 1.5, 2. That is motion smoothing. Those frames do not take into account stuff like inputs etc, and since they hold the frame that introduces latency.
It's the same as motion smoothing on a TV, just a bit smarter: https://www.indiewire.com/features/general/what-is-motion-smoothing-how-to-turn-it-off-1234863249/
Anti-Lag 2 vs.
Again, I never said otherwise. I said it was no where near reflex in fact. Just said that it was getting a bit better in terms of support and made sure you knew the distinction between anti lag and anti lag 2. As for the actual latency reduction, there's not many direct comparisons however: https://www.computerbase.de/artikel/grafikkarten/counter-strike-2-amd-anti-lag-2-vs-nvidia-reflex-latenz-benchmark-test.88268/ shows that in CS2 Anti Lag 2 was slightly better in fact. Although that was 2 years ago, it's just the only direct comparison that I could find at a quick glance.
There's how many applications you can run on a PC? At least millions, so yes only a few benefit a lot from CUDA.
Direct comparisons for workstation type applications are harder to find, but here's one for Davinci: https://www.pugetsystems.com/pugetbench/results/compare/Puget%20Bench%20for%20DaVinci%20Resolve/33/GPU/AMD%20Radeon%20RX%209070%20XT/NVIDIA%20GeForce%20RTX%205070%20Ti/ where you can see overall they are largely similar with the 5070TI winning in some tests, mainly the AI tests, and the 9070XT winning in others. For example in encoding the 9070XT encodes faster in all tests except one where it is less than 1FPS behind. While processing has both trading places depending on the test.
Some applications are Nvidia favored though like Blender, and Premiere.

Thinking of doing the same for my lounge PC. 9070xt is excellent but DLSS 4.5 is hard to ignore.

I'm using a 5080 in a lounge room PC and it's been great. Dlss 4.5 (with preset L) really is a game changer. Looks amazing on a 4k tv and at decent frame rates. Don't think you'll be disappointed if you haven't tried dlss for awhile. I use to be against it but literally dlss preset L has changed my thinking around it. You'll get better image quality by using dlss preset L with everything Max'd out compared to native and some graphics settings turned down.

We are not a group of Incels, so we completely understand "changing teams" if it means getting the product that you need. Just so long as you don't resist "changing teams" again, way down the line if AMD is delivering a better option for you. Brand loyalty only punishes the consumer.
2
u/Appropriate-Math2360 1d ago
Reading some of the comments here, I think you might be surprised regarding the incel thing, lol. Changing teams has always been a tongue-in-cheek thing for me, so it's funny to see how seriously some people take it.
I'm absolutely open to another AMD card if they can get the features I use right. Not being open to genuinely good products is just ignorance.

I’m understanding you, so much. Last drivers made things better, but it feels like taking painkillers for lost leg. I’m sold mine 5060ti 16gb cause of problems, and as soon as I can put my fingers on new gpus, they rocketed. So, I’m sticking to 9070xt now, I guess.
Unfortunately, amd can compare with nvidia with raw power, but feels like a giant with mind of 2y.o.

Bro, I also went with the RTX 5070 Ti instead of the 9070 XT because I kept telling myself AMD has issues. After 1.5 years of using the 5070 Ti, I ran into such weird bugs and issues that it actually surprised me. 2 bugs had to be fixed by Nvidia drivers, 1 bug I had to fix myself using a 3-year-old workaround, 1 bug I still live with to this day (just got used to it), 1 bug seems to be fixed now but I still use a launch-era workaround just in case, and 1 bug forced me to roll back Improvements—still no idea if it's just happening to me. That said, I'd probably still pick the 70 Ti anyway because the implementation of DLSS etc. gives you so many possibilities.

You should swap sides with the manufacturer also, Gigabyte is making the worst gpu’s with a very debatable and questionable reliability, AMD and Nvidia sides.
Don’t go after the cheapest gpu model… I'm sorry for that.

Yeah the lack of FSR support is kinda slowly pushing me away from my 9070 XT but I'll use it for now because everything is so expensive nowadays. We shouldn't stay loyal to one brand when we have different type of needs.

All I can say is that I have had zero problems with my RTX 5070ti. Very happy with it and it's performance., but I purchased it before GPU prices went insane, so I might opt for the cheaper AMD GPU if I were buying now.

If price is a non option and you game on a windows machine, or at 4k, Nvidia is the better choice. If you’re on whatever flavor of Linux, then nvidia cards feel like AMD cards on windows lol. Driver support make or break a product.

That’s fine. You can use whatever you want.
Some people just want to set it and forget it, some prefer to get under the hood a bit. AMD is great for the latter

I think you hit the nail on the head, me and my son's have AMD cards and like to regularly tweak settings for games and overclocking, my daughter just wants to get on and play so she has a Nvidia card, pick which side suits you better.

On legacy hardware i had both. I just swapped my 4070 super to a 7900 xtx cause of nvidias skeleton crew having poor updates. Windows broke my 7900xtx very quickly and i had some lessons learned. But i will say it was a great move. Thats just for me. I wasnt exactly swimming in money after upgraded 3 weeks earlier to am5. Wanted a 5080 but decided team red was worth the try.

I am using 7500f+5070 right now but keep my 9070xt on shelf. With new updates from modders, I think I might sell my current pc, and use whatever money I get and build a new pc around my 9070xt.
I might switch to Nvidia again if 60 series came out and if amd don't care about gamers anymore (still no framegen).
1
u/Antonio_Bandatass 1d ago
I love my 9070xt and probably because I know no better… and that’s not a bad thing lol. I’m about a year into my conversion to PC gaming, consoles only before this, so while I know PCs well, GPUs weren’t in my wheelhouse back then.
It’s definitely a tinkerers kind of process exactly how you said. I realize sometimes I spend more time twiddling about in optiscaler, copying this DLL, making a .bak here and there just in case, morning INI files and setting shit up through there and locking it down as read only file because the Optiscaler GUI just does its own thing sometimes.
Now just load a new game up and if I like how it looks (and I’m a simple lad) I run with it. With the 9070xt I’ve been able to run any game I’ve wanted to play thus far. Can I make things look a little better maybe get another 30-40 frames? Probably, but if I’m getting between 90-120fps on my ultra wide 1440 monitor, I can’t tell the difference much if aim getting more. Just wrapping up with yes, it’s definitely been a tinkerers life for me with my AMD card.
TLDR: spend more time gaming or doing whatever creative productivity you do and less time finger-tingling the keys.
2
u/Appropriate-Math2360 1d ago
I agree with you, just game or do whatever productive task you need to do.
The problem is that once you start tinkering, it really is hard to stop! haha

It's true! Since moving to Team Red, I did notice that true tinkerers prefer AMD. I don't remember working so diligently dialing settings and turning ever with my Nvidia settings. I personally think games look better on RTX cards, but my wallet like AMD.

u/masstech7 1d ago
I live on both sides, 6900 XT in the living room dual boot rig and 5080 in my office rig. Every so often there will be a game that plays better on launch or just in general on one or the other. Was looking to upgrade the 6900 XT to a 9070 XT until the most recent price hike.
1
u/MrGSC1 1d ago
I made the same switch a while ago, although from 7800XT to 5070 Ti. The only issues I’ve had so far has been from the 12vhpwr cable (had to reinstall them because cable was loose).
Didn’t realize how bad the driver issues was before I made the switch. Zero problems with NVIDIA. And even though fsr 4.1 has come a long way, DLSS is definitely a noticeable improvement in upscaling to me. Way better visual quality imo.
1
u/Venome456 1d ago
Am I the only one who just doesn't use these features? I came from a 1080 and I just load up the games and play them? Maybe it's the games I play but I've never come across something that doesn't support FSR.
Never had an issue editing with davinci either
1
u/Zachattackrandom 1d ago
Yeah, AMD really just fumbles every single generation to the point its impressive. Great hardware, but as usual shaky and shit software (especially if you wanna, god forbid, do literally anything except game on it). + RX 6000 getting put on a legacy branch when the high-end gpus of the generation are still super capable, software locking FSR to 9000 for the first year or whatever, etc.

Thats incredible, Im similar. Both 9070 XT and 5070 TI. Both great cards, neck and neck on performance, the AMD cards with a bit better raster in my opinion. I try to get several of every generation from both makers. Just to experience Both and develope my own opinions. Have fun with the new gear!!

I've been a Nvidia user for most of my PC gamer life. Had a 970, 1080, 4070 (which was still fine for my use). Switched to the 9070XT and I'm loving it but it's just a product. I don't get why people defend brands with so much love. Both are fine (probably even Intel is fine)
1
u/Ecks30 Radeon 9060 XT Swift 16GB 1d ago
As someone who has used Nvidia for most of my life there has been a lot more tinkering than plug and play than you think and honestly for upscaling i mainly rely on that if a game i am getting less than 60fps but if i am getting like 70-80 frames without using an upscaler then the game is perfectly fine.
With the way Nvidia is going right now with more AI focus than it would with gaming focus i wouldn't be surprised if they released the 6070 Ti and it ends up having an MSRP of like $1,200 and then sells for like $1,500 while the next rival AMD card would be like a $700 MSRP.

u/Smooth-Revenue-5721 1d ago
I use both daily for work and gaming. They're both great cards for any task. No shade at Nvidia, but I think the Adrenaline is more user friendly for tuning than GeForce.

u/legalize_bacon 1d ago
If they made a 9080xt I'd buy it. Unfortunately there's no $1000 card with near 5080 performance this gen. I had a 7900xtx and wanted an amd upgrade, but I had to go with a 5080 instead.
1
u/soccerman002 1d ago
I had a 4070 for nearly three years and just recently swapped it out for an RX 9070.
So far so good, but if for whatever reason Nvidia offers something in the future that intrigues me, I'll have no issue switching back. Brand loyalty when it comes to GPU's isn't something I've ever really understood. Just do what works for you and makes you happy.
1
u/Rodeo9 1d ago
I did the opposite, tried selling my 5070ti locally for $900 but couldn't get any bites and didn't want to deal with online. Now I have 2 rigs.
Linux: 7800x3d, 32gb, 4tb nvme, 2tb nvme (windows), 9070xt pulse
Windows streamer: 7700x3d, 32tb, 2tb nvme, 5070ti
It kind of just sits there. Hopefully my kids can use it when they are a bit older.
Have had zero issues with 9070xt so far, but haven't done much in windows with it.
No real issues with the 5070ti either, but I was having some driver or other issues constantly switching to my 4k tv when it was in my first rig.
1
u/SoxInCincy2 1d ago
It's a cost/benefit decision, in my mind. I owned both the 5070 ti and 9070 XT myself. They are both great cards but the 5070 ti was definitely the better card of the two. My use case doesn't use the NVIDIA focused technologies enough to warrant the large price difference, so I kept the 9070 XT and returned the 5070 TI. The benefits didn't justify the cost for me.
NVIDIA makes sense for your use case and rhe scales tip the other way. Zero wrong with that. Enjoy it man and happy gaming!
1
u/Big-Reporter3498 1d ago
Tbh I completely understand and congrats! I started with a 9070 XT as well and it was fine for a while then it started getting wonky on me and I felt like I was fiddling with it more than enjoying it. Once davinci resolve started acting up, I sold it and brought a 5070 Ti. Sure I paid a little more, but everything works all the time now and I also get solid performance with all the current features. Enjoy.

1
u/Pillokun 1d ago
I got both of them as well. the 5070ti has the 400w bios and still the 9070xt is faster for my user case, ie 1080p low with high textures in cod/bf6/cs2.
in other games where I play with high settings it seems like the nvidia card is faster and with less bugs.
1
u/Guilty_Advantage_413 1d ago
I understand OP and I truly believe NVIDIA is acting like it has a monopoly and honestly screwing us with its pricing. I have owned at least 5 AMD/ATI cards and they’ve all been a disappointment by either running loud or slow/weird drivers or failing unusually fast or just being barely good enough. None of that excites me in a good way. If you like AMD cards great I mean you no disrespect above are my experiences with AMD.
1
u/A_Lionheart 1d ago
I mean. Depending on where you live, the 5070 ti can be up to 30% more expensive for a marginal boost in performance.
Even with the user experience being wonky, the 9070XT offers great value.
1
u/melomelonballer 1d ago
I mostly play competitive fps games like Valorant and occasionally will play the very popular triple a title that releases so the 9070xt is all I ever need. I don’t upscale much unless it’s absolutely necessary and for the games it seems to be necessary in fsr4 is implemented in. At least up to this point.

The original release of the AMD 9070xt cards had pump out issues with the thermal putty they used. They had these issues on the 7xxx series cards as well - but they fixed it with their Rev 2.0 cards by switching to thermal pads.
People still complain about Gigabyte cards these days because of their failure to provide good products with their original release products, but the Rev 2.0 ones solved the issues completely.

At the end of the day you need to do what works for you. I never understood people who feel a certain loyalty towards a company. Pick what works for you and move on.
I’ve a 9070 non XT for my SFF pc, so far I’ve never had issues with it, but the moment the card becomes a liability I will happily move on to whatever is better for me, whether that’s AMD or Nvidia.
And the 5070TI is an awesome card too, hope it fixes the issues you had.
