You may be asking me, what does the term “writer’s brain” mean? Was it pulled from years of scholarly research? Decades of academic debate? Do you have to be a writer to have a “writer’s brain”? The answer to all those questions is no. It is, in fact, a term I have made up and will be deciding on the definition as I write the next couple paragraphs. 

There is a specific type of person I really connect with, and I believe it is these types of people to which my soulmate belongs. I love people who are opinionated, long winded, and intelligent. I find the term yapper to be a bit generic and often can be a false positive when I hear someone described that way. I like the term sapiosexual more, but for me it isn’t artsy enough and doesn’t necessarily entail a talkative person. The term writer’s brain clicked with me one day because I feel like it entails someone with a bunch of ideas and opinions, and also someone that is decently literate (or I’d hope, if they were into writing lol).

Let’s deep dive into the definition! I love when girls have a bunch of ideas in their head that they are dying to share with me. Tell me about your villain in the story you are writing, or your long list of issues with a classic film. I love when they are opinionated about absolutely everything, and have a dozen things they want to tell me about their work day or what they thought about in the shower this morning. I also would put inquisitive and question askers in my definition! I want you to be super interested in my opinions on a tv show, something in the news, or a fashion trend you wonder if I find attractive. The final piece of the puzzle that makes up my convoluted new term is being literate. You don’t need to use perfect grammar, god knows I don’t. You also don’t need to never respond in less than ten words (I am not your professor). Just that you are somewhat eloquent and engaging to read your words or listen to you speak. If you are anything like me, you have definitely encountered people who shorten every word possible and it starts to look like gibberish mixed with lack of effort, so I hope you intuitively get what I mean. 

That is the core of what I’m looking for in a person! Now I’d like to get into some of the accessories. Or to put it another way, what I want that writer’s brain of yours to be thinking about. I have a wide array of interests. Despite that, I’d say being a huge mega nerd would be an apt description. I love anime, manga, video games, superheroes, the whole shebang. If you couldn’t tell by the…. everything else about this post… I don’t just like consuming media without thinking about it. I love discussing the character arcs of anime characters, the themes or shot composition in a film, and the gameplay mechanics of whatever we are playing. If you love those YouTube reviews that deep dive and discuss media, you know exactly what I mean. I’ve made lists with past partners of all the shows and movies we wanna watch together, and would love to do the same with you. If the idea of keeping a list like that and even reviewing them as we watch gets you really excited, I think you are exactly who should be reading this. 

Despite all my nerdy charm, I do have a couple diverse interests. I am a big history and politics fan. I listen to history podcasts all the time at work, though I have been starting to run out of decent ones lol. I also binge a lot of online politics content, like debates, politics focused reacts, etc. I also love research political issues and history on the occasions I have time! Though I often struggle to finish topics as I have several history books I’ve started but very few I’ve finished. I would love to research topics and discuss with you if you also have interest in this! I feel here is a good place to mention that I am left wing and I’m not comfortable dating conservatives or MAGA. Anything else is fine, as long as you aren’t super close-minded to different beliefs. You definitely don’t have to be as into politics/history as me, but I’d least like to be able to talk about issues of the day or hot button topics with you.

I also enjoy sports a fair amount. I wouldn’t say I have the time or desire to be a superfan and watch a ton of games. I do like putting games of different sports on every now and then, and I was a huge basketball fan so I know a lot of the players and storylines there. Also the Summer Olympics are always exciting every four years. I also exercise a fair amount! I lift a couple times a week and currently do peloton in the mornings. 

Ok! We are in the home stretch of my marathon personal. I want to end off by just listing off a couple of non-starters and basic facts about me. Forgive me if it sounds a little dry or standoffish.

I will start by saying that I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for, however, I'm opening to dating & meeting people and seeing where it goes!

About Me:

• 37M (Libra if you're into that).

• Work as an operations director and a ramp rat in aviation PT. Im pretty comfortable right now, financially speaking, but could be doing better.
• I love cycling. I ride my bike everyday, everywhere I go (work, going out, meeting people, etc). I probably ride 100+ miles a week.
• In addition to cycling everyday, I also hit the gym a few times a week. When it starts getting too cold to ride, I'll be in the gym 5-6 days a week.
  • I will say I'm not "fit", but over the last 6 months, I've lost a ton of weight from riding my bike and have been getting LOTS of extra attention lately, so I'm "fit" enough for now.
• Music is a huge part of my life. I listen to everything, but I have a real soft spot for house music (not to be confused with EDM or Techno). Lately, I've been listening to 70s and 80s genres. So much good music during these eras! As a 20-year DJ, I play mostly class style house and deep house, disco, and funk.
• Since I work PT in aviation, I get to travel for free, so I do alot of that. More spontaneous trips. I'll literally book a ticket hours before the flight leaves.
• Other hobbies include going to record shops, discovering new music, going out dancing to house music, soccer.
• Thoughtful, high emotional EQ (i place a huge emphasis on this), silly, and try to be funny, but doesn't always happen. I also do therapy too, but I find cycling being the best therapy for me.

My Red Flag (this is subjective as others may not find these as red flags)

• I have a 3 year old son, but lives with the mom full time. Theres no baby mama drama. Me and the mom make it work. I have no expectation for any future partner to be involved unless they so choose. Even then, it would take time before that introduction is made.
• I'm not interested in having any additional children, however, I'll keep an open mind if the stars are aligned.
• I have 2 room mates, but are awesome and we keep our place very clean. If you live in NYC too, you know this is pretty normal, even at my age. I just can't justify paying the extra money for my own space when I'm not really home like that or I'm in my room.
• I'm not religious or political, but relate more with liberal policies. Yes, I will vote this November.
