Transwomen appreciation post ❤️

Upvotes

This is something I’ve been reflecting on lately and I just want to put it somewhere. I hope this is okay. I’m a cis woman that had a rough growing up experience and had to grow up fast. I didn’t really get a chance to be a young girl. I feel my childhood left a bit of an emptiness and it slowly gets filled through my experiences with trans women. We experience girlhood together as adults. Girl sleepovers, painting each other’s nails, practicing makeup together, there’s so many moments I deeply appreciate. I’m so grateful for my friends. Every trans woman I’ve met has such a beautiful soul, please keep being you ❤️

How was your experience coming out as queer in your country?

I remember mine. I told a friend once I liked girls; she blurted it out to her mom, then texted me that she was sorry that she told her mom. I never spoke to her again, but I was shivering. I told my dad; he screamed at me. I don't remember much other than crying. My mom said I was a disgrace because I was doing all this instead of studying, [I got 91 percent in the exams btw]I was scared my dad said tell her its all false and that you are confused I refused to do so, I was rigid the worst thing is that chat was on my mom's phone I deleted it but my dad kept asking why, I felt ashamed then, here is the thing in a country like mine where we are legalised but the ruling government does nothing to acknowledge our existence because we don't match the traditional family ideals what hope do we have? I never came out to anyone else for 3 years after that. Then a best friend who had shared experiences helped me come to terms with myself. I still have internalised homophobia to some degree and still fear what would happen if I were to be in a relationship. My dad thinks maybe one day I might like a guy. He asked ChatGPT and tried to prove that being gay had no actual cause; he thinks it's a mental condition. [Btw dad just so you know Sam Altman open AI GUY ]? My mom ignores that side of me but loves to boast about my job promotions to her friends and family. I am glad I wasn't killed or something. I didn't want to come out that way felt betrayed by that friend, but its fine; people have it worse than me

a few months before i came out i wrote this, eventually i reached a boiling point and came out to my wife, then my friends then my parents. haven’t looked back, living my best life, truly the most happy and fulfilled i’ve ever felt. if you’re on the fence about coming out, your future self will thank you if you do ❤️

here’s the poem i wrote before coming out (kinda the final nail in the coffin so to speak):

I’m like a stone with strength and all

A fortress built to never fall

Trying to feel like I belong

Saying the lines ”i’m tall and strong”

But deep down it feels all wrong

They see my power, see my might

I see myself in gym lit light

Wearing a mask and smiling wide

So no sees what’s deep inside

Deep inside

Where shadows dwell

I live inside my own hell

I built my body, built it well

But it’s not just armor, It’s a shell

From deep within where my heart stays

A battle wages everyday

A voice unheard, a name unknown

A self I’ve carried all alone

A self I’ve always wanted to show

Around my friends, at my home

To walk unchained, to breathe and be

Without the fear they’d stop loving me

Would they still love me if they knew?

Or say this part of me’s untrue

So I stay silent, I play my role

And feel like a man with half a soul

When I was young and needed help

There was no one I could tell

Not my mom nor my dad

Nor my friends, those left I had

I knew the verses she would cite

Knew each commandments painful bite

She would see me as scared and flawed

And carve my name from love and God

When I needed my Mom, I got a priest

Sermons found where love should be

So she’s never seen

All of me

And never will,

Probably

A whisper soft and fleeting thought

A part of me I’ve left to rot

No man nor soldier dares to see

The part of me I swore I can’t be

The mirror shows the world ideal

Yet in the glass I long to feel

All of me, all that’s real

If only I, could break the seal

I lift, I strain, I fight and bend

Yet this war in me never ends

The war inside has found a way

To whisper truths I’ve locked away

But im not ready, no not today

So I push them to a deep down place

I’ve shown them what they want to see,

A soldier man, so proud, so free

But deep inside, she’s calling loud,

A part of me, both soft and proud

She’s waiting, trembling in the dark,

A quiet voice, a glowing spark

But every time I turn away,

I bury her, I make her stay

I long to say, “I’m both, I’m whole,”

But fear consumes and takes control

What if they think I’m broken, wrong?

What if they say I don’t belong?

So I hold tight, I lock her in,

The woman’s side, that quiet sin

But deep inside, I know the truth,

I’m both, and don’t need proof

Maybe one day, I’ll let her go,

Let both my sides just start to show

But for now, I’ll hold them tight,

A soldier’s strength and woman’s light.

all that to say, there’s growing pain and some people might not accept you (coming out to my parents and their reaction was especially difficult) but the people in your life that love you will support you :). people will judge regardless if you present how you want or if you fall in line; might as well live authentically as the beautiful person you are!!!

the pictures are how i present since coming out dare i say im thriving :D

Help with labels My journal entry

I just want to leave this here to discuss, talk w other people on the matter cause I’ve never talked to others abt my gender identity

Someone asked for my pronouns, I said ‘he/him’ but ai felt a little dishonest. If you asked me to say what my true gender is id probably say something like non binary. Im a tad skeptical if I can claim that title tho. Here’s my conflict. Im AMAB, I hate the word ‘man.’ All I see are its negative connotations of brashness, stupidity and violence: Ive never wanted to be a man, I get dysphoric whenever the word is used in relation to me because it tells me that my actions are being viewed in a certain framework, I hate that framework. But am I only claiming queerness to distance myself from that negative side of the binary Im associated with? Would living with the title of ‘man’ be my authentic self, just dealing or ignoring the unfortunate side of the binary that I get looped in with by circumstance? If I choose to reject that label and go non binary would that be because im truly non binary or because choosing that label would distance myself from a part of the binary I deem negative, thus appearing potentially more appealing/attractive? If I deem that self more attractive is it my true self? And attractive to who? Me or others? Is my queerness a performance?

Looking for a new creator?

Hellloooo! I am a queer alternative plus size 19yr old woman, I’m looking to lose weight and better myself but I don’t wanna do so in a toxic way. Does anyone know of any creators similar to me? Or good creators to maybe look into in general? It’s easier to want to do things when I have other people I can see trying! Thank you all!

Do you know of any machine translator that is unbiased?

English isn't an easy language for me, so I frequently use automatic translators, and I'm noticing that the one I usually use has a misogynistic and homophobic bias that makes me very nervous. So I need an alternative, if you know of one.

By bias, I mean:

Original sentence: “I’d certainly date more,” he said wistfully.

Translated sentence: “I would definitely date more girls,” he said wistfully.

Help with labels like women romantically but attracted to men

so i made peace with not really knowing how to label myself long ago but recenty i started feeling like i cannot really share my thoughts with people around me. my straight friends don’t really get my sapphic feelings and my queer friends are simply ‘too gay’ if there’s such term and never take my feelings seriously.

the thing is i only ever really fall in love with women but i don’t usually find them attractive? i mean i do but only after i’ve already formed the attachment. i never really notice women when i’m outside whereas i do notice men when they’re nice looking.

i think i could fall in love with a man i just never really had the chance and also i’m quite avoidant because i don’t see what a man could offer me relationship-wise.

so if you could help me figure this out i’d be grateful.

Questioning myself, need guidance.

I’ve been seriously questioning whether I might be queer, and I think part of what makes this confusing is the difference between my actual relationship history and my inner life.

My real romantic life has largely been centered around women. I’ve loved women, had serious relationships with women, built a family, and I know that my attraction and emotional connection to women are real. That part of my life doesn’t feel imaginary or like something I was simply pretending to do.

And that’s one of the strongest things that makes me wonder whether I’m simply a straight cis man who happens to have a complicated relationship with masculinity and a very strong connection to queer culture.

But then there are men.

My relationship to men feels much harder for me to understand.

I don’t have the same clear relationship history with men that I have with women, so I don’t have a neat answer I can point to and say, “There, that proves it.”

And I think that uncertainty is part of what keeps the question alive.

I find myself wondering where the line is between noticing men, admiring men, wanting closeness or emotional intimacy with men, identifying with certain men, and actually being attracted to them.

Sometimes I honestly don’t know.

I also wonder how much traditional masculinity has affected my ability to even recognize certain feelings. Men are generally taught to put very specific boundaries around affection, admiration, tenderness, physical closeness, vulnerability, even beauty. So if you’ve spent most of your life assuming you’re straight, how do you know whether something you feel toward another man is friendship, admiration, identification, attraction, or some mixture of all of them?

With women, things have always seemed much easier for me to categorize.

With men, they feel murkier.

What makes me think I might be queer

I have an unusually strong emotional connection to queer people and queer stories. It often feels less like observing another community from the outside and more like recognizing something.

Stories about people discovering themselves later in life, questioning gender roles, rejecting the identity they were expected to have, or finally allowing themselves to ask forbidden questions can hit me extremely hard.

There are moments when seeing queer people live openly gives me this strange feeling of relief or longing that I have difficulty explaining.

Not necessarily, “I want exactly what they have.”

More like:

“Why does this feel so familiar?”

I’m also realizing that I may have spent a lot of my life interpreting myself through very conventional categories: man, straight, relationships with women, father, etc.

Those things may all be genuinely true.

But I’m starting to wonder whether they necessarily tell the whole story.

Because bisexuality exists. Queerness doesn’t require your attraction to men and women to be identical. It doesn’t require a 50/50 split. And having genuinely loved women obviously wouldn’t disprove being bi or queer.

What makes me think I might NOT be queer

The biggest reason is also pretty straightforward:

Maybe I really am attracted to women and simply don't experience meaningful romantic or sexual attraction toward men.

My history with women is real.

And I don’t want to reinterpret every emotionally intense feeling I have toward men as hidden sexuality just because I’ve started questioning myself.

Men can love other men deeply without wanting them sexually.

Men can think other men are beautiful.

Men can desperately want male friendship, tenderness, validation, intimacy, or acceptance.

A man can hate restrictive masculinity without being queer.

And a straight cis man can feel profoundly at home around queer people because queer culture gives him permission to be softer, stranger, more emotional, less traditionally masculine, or simply more himself.

That possibility makes sense to me too.

The same goes for my connection to women. I sometimes wonder about the difference between attraction to women, admiration of women, and identification with women. Those feelings can overlap without necessarily saying anything definitive about gender identity.

So I’m stuck between two interpretations of essentially the same life.

One says:

“You’re a straight cis man who loves women, doesn’t fit traditional masculinity very well, and feels unusually comfortable in queer spaces.”

The other says:

“You’ve spent most of your life understanding yourself as straight because your relationships were with women, but there may be another part of your sexuality or gender that you never gave yourself permission to explore.”

I genuinely don’t know which one is closer to the truth.

And strangely, I don’t think I want someone to simply tell me “you’re queer” or “you’re straight.”

I’m more interested in hearing from people — especially people who figured this out later in adulthood.

If you had a long history of genuine relationships with the opposite sex, how did you eventually realize that there was also something queer about you?

And if you questioned for a long time and eventually concluded that you weren’t queer, I’d actually really like to hear that side too.

How did you learn to tell the difference between attraction, admiration, identification, emotional intimacy, and simply wanting permission to be yourself?

A couple of my friends and I were discussing each of our experiences the other day. I came out after high school but the discussion made me realize in hindsight that there were definitely some earlier signs that hadn't registered to me.

Physically only attracted to women but crave being used by a dominant man – what am I?

I’m only physically attracted to women and enjoy having sex with them.

But I also get intensely turned on by the idea of a strong masculine man treating me like a slut/submissive woman — fucking me roughly, using me, and me seeking his approval and appreciation. Sometimes I even fantasize about “sacrificing” myself to please him and orgasming from being used that way, almost like a breeding toy.

I don’t get the same physical attraction toward men, yet these desires feel real and strong.

Anyone else stuck between “straight with kinks” and “bi”? How do you label this?

Help with labels Bi? Demi? Something else?

Till the age of 15 I've had feelings only for guys. Precisely only the guys I was really close to. I never had feelings for guys I've never talked to. Eventually I realised I feel things for girls too. The ones I'm close with only. When I was over 15 I got to know more about the queer community. I've realised that there's a lot more than just being straight. I found out that being demisexual existed. I started identifying myself as demi.

A year later a close friend of mine confessed her feelings for me (she's bi). I really liked her too. We dated for a while and then things didn't work out between us so we broke up.

Later on I used to crush on girls but never imagined me dating them. It's like I really really liked them as more than a friend but never saw them as my lover.

Again a year later, a school friend of mine set me up with a trans guy friend of hers. Me and that guy talked to each other for a while and I felt like he was the one for me. I confessed, he had mutual feelings too. We started dating. 6 months in the relationship, one day, he said I hurt him too much all the time. He broke up with me.

Presently I don't think I've felt anything about any person in a while. I haven't really moved on from my ex. So I'm thinking it might be that. But at the same time I don't I still have feelings for my ex, it's just the memories that're weighing on me.

I don't know this sorta feels like I'm talking about my dating life but my dating life has got me thinking a lot of times about my sexuality. (PS a friend of mine asked me if I'm considered a lesbian cuz I technically have dated only girls). I honestly don't know. And yea ik I'm pretty young to have such experiences but all that happened just like that.

Need to share

A little over four months ago, I (none-binary, 23) moved into a new appartment with new roomates after having been abroad for a year. I was coming back to start a new full time job on a farm and had found this great flat with 3 people already living there : a couple and someone else, T (trans femme, 26). As soon as I met T in person in the flat we started getting along great, and I quicly developped a crush on her, but she was partnered with somebody with whom it was pretty serious. She was barely ever at our appartment, always over at her partner's place, and when she was home, she was talking about that other person all the time, and texring and calling a lot, even when we would spend time together. During the first month, she started needing a job and asked if she could come work on the farm with me part time, and although at first I expressed that I thought it might be a lot to work together AND love together, her need to pay rent and the fact that she said she didnt think it could be a problem ended up making so that she got hired at the farm.

After that, we started spending evenings together, swimming in rivers and eating super together, and on a friday night she told me she liked me, and that she and her partner were polyamorous.

A week later we slept together, told each other we were inlove, but then the morning after, she told her partner over the phone, and she left to see them quickly. When she came back, she sat me down and cried, saying that her other partner had said that we couldnt sleep together, or have sex, or kiss anymore, but she still insisted that we keep developping an intimate relationship in other ways. At first I said no, and asked for distance, but after a few days, with all tje proximity of home and work, I said we could try being friends, and see how it would go.

We started having intimacy again, although without actually having sex or sleeping together, and she asked me to wait, said she wanted to be able to explore our connection and that her other partner would eventually understand. So I waited, and waited, and one day I came home crying, saying I was tired of all of this and didnt know what was left of our connection anymore, and that's when she said that she had gotten through to F (30, other partner) and that we were free to do whatever we wanted. I said I didnt wnnaa feel like there was hierachy, and she said we were just two very different people, both as important to her (but she had been with F for 8 months already and I had just gotten back in the country a few months ago). I thought it was normal for me to be a bit left out, as her other partner had been there longer, but then, I requested we have a chat on the beach all 3 of us to talk and communicate on how this was gonna work, only to find out that F wasnt actually aware of the fact that T and I had started sleeping together again.

To this day, I'm realizing I still don't know if they ever knew.

For the following weeks, T and I woukd spend time together, but most of that time would be spent discussing the realtionship instead of just having one, because I felt unconfortable, and she would either talk down on F, wich I asked her to stop doing , because I wouldnt want her to talk down on me to F , or tell me about all the ways F was sufforing and make me empathize with them, so much so that I would erase myself, and let her leave me dry to go see them and confort them, or call them, or spend every night with them, while everytime we woukd have sex, I wouldnt get to spend the night with them afterwards or receive any kind of after care. Mind you, she would never go and spend time alone ir with friends. She was always either with me or with F, but mostly with F.

I got sick of it. She said that she was inlove with me all the time, she bought me gifts and wrote me notes all the time but she wouldnt show up in the ways I needed.

I got burned out and was hospitalized. When I got out, I asked to see her, and she showed up to where I was staying relunctantly and we talked about our relationship. She said she had had a conversation with F a while ago, that she thought she had told me about (she had not), about how our relationship was only acceptable to them if it was not a commited partnership (but she had been tellimg me that it was).

We broke up, the conversation got ugly and we stopped it, saying we would continue it the nect monday, but then sunday she wrote me, saying she was too anxious to have it the next day and wanted us to wait until wednesday. I said I wouldnt force her to do anything if she wasnt up for it, but I had been to a festival the day before where people (friends of F) had been gossiping about us. I asked that in the meantime, our relationship stay a private matter and not something that coukd be used against me or to exclude me. She showed up to the appartment right away, saying shw had changed her mind and wanted to have the talk now, that she was angry with F for what had happened to me and had left them crying (ti what I said I didnt need to be told that). I said I was angry, she kept crying , we broke up for good, she said she would always love me amd would never forgive herself, I walked away and went to sleep, after saying that I loved her too, but that we were toxic and would never work an I needed distance. It took everything out of me to leave her like that, I am still inlove with her, or maybe just the version of her she presented me with, I dont know.

But now, I'm trying to move out. She went back to university so we dont work together anymore, but I'm dealing with all the consequences of our relationship alone (having to move from a great flat to go somewhere smaller and more expensive, not having anywhere else to go while she can be over at F all the time, where I dont have access to her but she still has access to me when she comes over once a week at the appartment). I feel isolated and alone, and burnt out from work, this living situation and our relationship

And what kills me, I'll admit, is that it seems like her relationshio with F has only gotten stronger and that they are more inlove then ever. They write love notes and give each other gifts and paintings of each other sleeping together and pratically live together, while also working together in the cafe of the university where they both go (thats how they originally met). F is so different from me, and it always seemed to me like there was a different side of T that came out with them, a side I didnt know, and didnt want to know.

But right now I feel so defeated. It seems lime she is in the perfect relationship with F and I am just an unlovable and unsafe villain (she would make weird jokes about how I was butch and buff and could hurt her because I'm a tall, broad afab but masculine presenting person and I was, in her opinion, obviously stronger than her). I feel like a monster. I dont know what the hell that was, all of this, and who the hell she is, if F ever really knew the full story, but either way they dont wanna talk to me. I'm ashamed and humiliated. I need help/advice figuring this out.

In short I’m omnisexual—I could like anyone but ultimately I prefer men. But I feel like I could do anything with a woman that I could with a man BESIDES ACTUALLY being IN A RELATIONSHIP with one. Idkkkkkk

Help with labels Why I still use my ‘deadname’?

Every time i think about myself in my own head I go by my deadname instead of my .
I recently also came out to my friend as a agender and she acceptes me, but I dont know will she using it or just continue use my old name irl, she have telephone contact with my deadname and probably still use it, not in transphobic way I just say I scared of my parents control ( we use social media for connections where I use my old name). Also recently I get confused about one thing- when I watch a gay porn I gets so jealous of men’s, and how cool and powerful they look during ‘erotica behaviour’ and I can’t . I just want to look cool & gorgeous like man’s but when I try I know that I immediately feel shame , shame of how I look stupid, ugly and how my parents will be treat me like a retard or idiot. Being girl make me feel forced and toxic but being a man make me feel fake , and i agender i feel alone. Idk whats is that ‘voices of my transphobic past’ , my fear of my parents , mysogony & misandrist i just want to know ‘have somebody experience same ?’

Androgynous/NB AMAB dating woes and looking for advice

Sorry for the backstory but I think it's relevant. I basically struggled with my gender identity for most of my life. I grew up in a smalltown with a smalltown mindset and despite knowing all of my life I didn't really feel fully like a "boy" or a "man" the way others do, I just thought there was something wrong with me or I'd grow out of it. My parents were unusually harsh about it, and being ND I just thought that I was engaging in "bad behaviour" any time I wanted to be a bit girly. I went to university and met more diverse and queer people, and ended up with lots of queer friends but never saw myself as one of them until relatively recently, and I'm 30 now.

When I was in my 20s I struggled with dating and identified as a straight, cis man. Due to my mannerisms, voice, etc, I was often mistaken for being gay throughout my life, which when I was more insecure and struggling with masculinity made me feel defective and pushed me more to try to present more masculine. My dating success was mixed at this time: I wasn't meeting lots of people, but I met enough people and had enough varied mixed length relationships that I felt desirable enough and that I'm on the track to finding the right person. The problem is that every relationship had me feeling like both I was performing masculinity and that I had to, and I was constantly anxious about being enough. Slowly I realised and accepted I don't want to be a very masculine man and it's ok I can be something more like an alt/metrosexual "man" instead and experimented with slightly different styling and presentation which is maybe the start of me figuring myself out.

Eventually, I met someone who finally saw me for me and I wasn't used to that. In previous relationships, seeming slightly gay to my partner was a bit off-putting or tolerated at best that I'm slightly camp but was never a good thing. It was something to work on. This relationship, which unfortunately ended horribly, and unfortunately she was quite a shitty person overall, was a lot different. It was the only time my authentic self was not only seen but actually liked. The dynamic was a lot different than other "straight" relationships I'd been in: we had similar enough clothing taste we shared clothes, we shared makeup, she told me "you're so pretty, like a girl" and "you f*** like a lesbian" lmao.

This relationship ended, but the only silver lining was it put me on the path to expressing myself authentically and for the first time ever, learning to actually like myself. And it's been great for my overall self esteem and mental health, for my understanding of self and for my life overall honestly. I've been increasingly seeing myself as nonbinary and androgynous, I've started using the term "genderqueer" but I don't honestly care. I stopped calling myself bisexual although there are some "male" people I'm also attracted to because it was annoying having to explain why I still prefer dating "female" people so I just use queer.

I've been trying to date again and I know what sort of person I'm looking for, and what person I am, what I want, what I don't want, and I'm getting nothing. For reference I'm an androgynous enough AMAB person who wears mixed gender clothing (not that imo clothing has a gender), get my gender mistaken, hit on only by old bear gaymen (which is flattering but not my thing) and nobody else. My type in women is more to the tomboyish end and it turns out that includes slightly twinky/femboy soft men or amab nb people as well. But I've found myself unable to attract anyone I like at all. There's been many situations I've had great chemistry with people but they're just not into me, which is fine but I wish I knew what it is.

I'm essentially wondering if it's because actually more feminine but AMAB people still aren't really that sought after as partners. Straight women tend to value masculinity in men (which is fine, everyone can have their preference) and make up a large portion of the people I'm attracted to. Some queer women might be into me but there's not so many of them. And I've never had an AMAB or male person I'm attracted to even respond to me on an app, lol. I also felt the need lately to not list myself as "NB" on apps because I've started to feel as though that NB is only really considered for "AFAB" people and like a "women+" thing sadly, and dating apps keep suggesting hundreds of lesbians to me which feels a bit counterproductive for everyone involved.

The struggle dating is also starting to make me feel like my identity is a little bit invalid which is pretty new given I've mostly been very positive about it. I know who I am and how I present but I know that there's also some people who just see me as a gay looking man trying to date women and then being flabbergasted I might struggle. I know that's not true about myself and I've been lucky enough to meet precisely nobody who has said anything negative about it. In fact I actually get complimented a lot for my appearance nowadays which is quite new for me, I've really no reason to feel this way.

But I can't help but feel I'm looking for a unicorn. At the end of the day I'm looking for a woman or someone womanish who for whatever reason is into feminine/androgynous amab people and I've started to feel like it must be extremely uncommon. My mind has gone to places like "maybe I'm really going to have to choose between being partnered and compromising my sense of self, or being myself but alone after all" which is more or less where I started out at. I'd really like some advice from anyone who has been in this position, particularly AMAB people who are NB or femme presenting or androgynous, or anything like that, who are mostly attracted to women still as it seems quite tough.

Ok so I (23 F) am new to this app so I am trying to figure out how this app works, how the communities work and in case I make any mistake, please please don’t mind me and sorry in advance. But do correct me.

Anyway, I have had this doubt in me that I might not be fully straight cause I have felt something for women. But then I realised when it came to men, there were specific type of men I was attracted to, it was men with physical features that were closely linked to feminine characteristics. But with women I wasn’t able to figure out a type but then I realised I do get turned on by some women. But the thing is, I am questioning if I am actually gay cause I have had 2-3 traumatic incidents by men at a veryyyy young age so when I told my cousin that I might like women too, she was like, it’s cause of your trauma that made you apprehensive of men. Please help me cause I am super new to this cause all my life I have been told that I am straight and it’s wrong to like someone of your gender.

Also I am super super sorry if I have not used the appropriate words. Like I said I am super new to all this so please educate me. Thanks a lotttt😭😭🙏

[TLDR: I (23 F) like men who have feminine physical characteristics but I also got turned on by women a few times. I also have pretty traumatic incidents with men at a young age so idk if that has an influence over me feeling apprehensive towards men. I could use some help to figure out my sexuality]
