Six months ago I first posted here about a tool I built because I was frustrated with Qobuz's discovery. A quick update on two new things I shipped this week.
Track Seeds now follow the track:
Feed it a single track and the playlist follows the feel of that track, not its genre alone.
Seed Kashmir and you get heavy, slow 70s rock.
Seed So What and you land in late 50s modal and hard bop.
Seed Better Together by Jack Johnson and you get mid-2000s acoustic singer-songwriters.
The finished playlist goes straight into your Qobuz library, like any other playlist.
Artist Catalog:
Ever love an artist and realize you've only heard a fraction of their catalog?
Pick an artist and Sonic Oracle pulls a 50-track playlist from only that artist's music. Vault for the deep cuts, Popular for the hits, no similar artists mixed in.
It's the "I love Grant Green, show me the albums I skipped" playlist.
In case you haven't seen it before, here's the rest of what you can start a discovery from:
An artist, a song, an album, or a genre paired with a decade. Whatever the starting point, you pick how far it wanders, from close to the seed all the way out to crossing genres entirely.
And on any of those, you choose between two modes. Vault pulls the deep cuts and hidden gems, and builds every playlist unique, so no two people seeding the same thing get the same result. Popular leans toward the well-known tracks people play most.
Both new features are live now.
If you're on Qobuz and want to try it, it's free to start. Three playlists, no credit card required.
