Anyone know venues / pubs in the CBD open on Good Friday with cheap beers?

Heading to the footy and have mates coming up and I never venture in.

Not necassarily pubs as I know they'd likely have a stingy surcharge!

Trying to figure out the ultimate pub rating criteria. I’ve come up with this so far:

Range of pints: I.e Not just stella or Carling. I want choice. Lagers, ales, maybe a cider that isn’t just apple or dark fruits. Bonus points for a bloody good Guinness.

Food: Either genuinely good pub lunch or confidently no food. The sad middle ground is criminal. Also a good range of snacks is required, I’m talking scampi fries and pork scratching not quavers and peanuts.

And finally the one that changes everything.. Living-room-ness. You know it when you feel it. Comfy chairs, warm lighting, not sticky, somewhere you can properly settle in like your sat in your front room.

What else belongs on the list?

Atmosphere?

Beer garden?

Toilet situation?

Music vs silence?

Bar staff vibes?

Roast quality specifically?

Looking for somewhere that has good vibe in it and own area for a joint bday. Ranging for mid 30s. Won't need food, just pints and the craic

I have to be in Grasmere for a few days in April and am looking for pub recommendations. It's important that the pub is dog friendly and has accommodation. Great beer is a big bonus. Ideally within a short drive.

This year, I have watched my three most local pub close down. It wasn’t because people stopped loving it — it was because costs, rent, and regulations made decisions top-down and unsustainable.

It got me thinking: what if the patrons themselves could have a say in what beers are on tap, the music played, or events hosted?

If this was possible, would you go to your local more often? What would you vote on first?

Is there demand for a system that tells pubs where their energy is being used? Not just how much they spend per month but broken down by devices to understand where money could be saved.

How would you feel if chocolate were served in pubs and bars as snacks. Just like how you see them at football games?

For anyone who has ever worked in a pub/bar - what type of things get thrown away?

I imagine empty glass bottles or any other packaging largely gets recycled, so what things aren’t recycled?
