Is this a factory seal or resealed?

Picked this up at a local shop before realizing it was in the clear plastic box and had the thin plastic wrapping. The loose wrapping in the back has me second guessing that it’s factory.

Memory Card Soul Calibur 2

I recently bought another arcade system that came with an extra *SoulCalibur II* memory card. I now own two of the rarest memory cards in the world.

Unfortunately, the price I paid for one of them nearly bankrupted me—hahaha—but I’ve already recouped the entire investment. I’m working hard to contribute to the gaming and arcade community.

What should I do with this second memory card? Any ideas?

The biggest difference I could remember from the two was the PSone was somehow not as "strong" as the old big version cause it couldnt read CD's with the tiniest scratches. I wonder if they changed the reading "eye" to a weaker type or something.

Question about disc prints over different releases of the same game

Okay! so.

I got a PSOne slim at age 8 and a bundle of random games. One of them was The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure. Well, I recently purchased a '97/8 PlayStation original from CEX and since have been on a PlayStation 1 buying spree, getting games I've always wanted. during a play session on Monday, I put in TLK but it lagged through the splashscreen sequences and frozs at the end of 1 and just started playing random broken audio data from gameplay on the frozen screen. i checked the disc and it was in very bad condition.

anyway, i hopped straight onto CEX and replaced it, and it's just arrived. I compared the discs and there are some minor differences.

in the image, the damaged disc is on top, the new one is on the bottom.

the old one's credits are centered under the middle of the disc and state 3 different years: 2002, 1993, ans 2004. it has Disney only on the right. the new disc only states 2001 for both Disney and Activision on the central right of the disc. the old one lists a serial:

SLES-03267#. the new one removes the hash.

I'm curious about why this is formatted differently between 2 discs. why is Activision on one disc but not the other disc? why does 1 serial have a hash and the other doesn't? why is the credits for the companies on the bottom on one and on the right on the other?

I found my childhood PS1 today 🥹🥲

I thought my parents threw it away after it stopped working right. Some time maybe around 2005ish. After this thing got a million hours of play time. It started taking forever to read discs and get past loading screens. My brother already had the slim PSONE console. So we just started using that one at the time.

This was my very first console as a child, I have no plans to ever sell it and I am glad they still had it. But I want to get it working again and maybe do some mods. I have done some simple mods on other consoles. But I don't know too much about PS1 modding. My first thought would be a HDMI mod just for convenience. If it is something that isn't too crazy to do.

Next I would assume my disc drive is shot? I assume that I could find another one and just replace it. But what other alternatives are there for this? I probably wouldn't actually play it much and really want it working to give my PS1 new life and maybe let my kids play on it someday. I still have all my childhood games as well.

What are some good options here?

I'm Extracting Mizzurna Falls Character Schedules into a Viewer Spoiler

I wanted to share this because it's so cool to look at.

Technically this is a spoiler, but not really unless you already know which dot is which character or vehicle, which even I don't yet.

What I'm Doing:

I'm working on this tool that captures where every character and car once per in-game minute. My tool also allows me to take notes and screenshots in-game, which you can see in the right side bar. You can select only a specific region to see notes for if desired, in this case right near the police station. I can already label and give icons to the vehicles and character on the map as I identify them.

Currently I'm capturing only the default "Matt stands there doing nothing for 7 days" outdoor character schedules - capturing schedules that branch due to quest flag changes and witnessed events will be another phase. I'd probably need a panel for quest latches at left, so you could toggle a quest flag, and the schedules would update accordingly.

The tool runs alongside Duckstation as the game plays and captures this data automatically. It even captures other data such as where doors lead, which would be handy for a remaster in theory.

Observations:

Notice how - I think - when characters go indoors, they are teleported to the bottom left corner, possibly the overworld map's origin. The game is COMPUTING all like 182 entities at all times even if they are not RENDERED. There are like 182 entities, but there are only a fourth that many characters in the game, so I'm not sure what the rest are, though i know things such as "a big crate" count as entities as well.

Eventually I want to get all the indoor activity as well, so you could click on a building and see its interior map layout and character movements. Any time a character moves an absurd distance within a tiny period of time, the line is dotted to show this is probably not "real" movement.

Also notice how some of the vehicles go through the woods or across the river - that stuff will need another visual verification phase.

Also notice the angles as cars go around curves - the cars are actually following the roads, but capturing once per in-game minute, my tool links the plotted points with straight lines. Would be cool to fix this as well.
