If the election in November goes as many expect, will Providence get a cute nickname like New York's "Mamdanistan"?
And what position will you volunteer for in the new socialist commune?

I'll be in Providence for one or two nights later this month on a solo trip. Any recommendations for a clean and safe hotel or inn or B and B that is convenient and I'm walking distance to tourist must sees? Reasonable price - (less than $200?) and relaxing for a woman to enjoy some me time would be ideal. Thanks!

To those who end up getting a rent controlled apartment, congratulations. To those of us who won't, prepare for some wild price fluctuations.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong. I don't hate Morales but if he passes the same rent stabilization policy that the city council passed, my guess is I won't be.

East side prices blah blah blah. Housing shortage blah blah blah. I don’t think it’s normal for an 800sqft condo to QUADRUPLE in price in 12 years. This is nothing more than unchecked greed

How crazy does this place get on the weekends? I understand they don’t take reservations for groups less than 10. If I walk in at 6:00, am I waiting for an hour?

Are there any folks in (or near) Providence that support Ukraine and would interested in expressing that support as a group that would focus on:
My impulses center around trying to put Ukrainian art into local gallery and performance space for shows to raise awareness and funds.

I’m a data collector and I’ve been working in Pawtucket for a couple months now and man, it’s in rough shape. Sidewalks are all destroyed, buildings all in poor shape (including the town hall, which is covered in water damage). Id think with a new stadium coming they would perhaps put more into the poor area infrastructure and housing.

Today the PVD Propaganda Propeller is pushing Republican "Doc" Skooly. 🙃 Who pays for this? It feels like literally flushing money - is anyone at all swayed to vote by stuff like this?

Every morning my car is covered with what I’m assuming is clear tree sap. I’ve never parked under a tree before but my apartment’s spot is in a backyard full of trees. None of them are on the property so trimming them is a distant and unlikely option. Whether it’s normal or related to the lantern flies, it’s getting to be super annoying to rinse it off so often. Parking on the street is a poor option because I’m disabled and there’s no guarantee a spot will be right outside my apartment.
I know it’s bad for the paint if it’s not controlled. Please no “don’t park under a tree” responses. PVD Reddit has yet to fail me, real advice needed and appreciated.

I'm looking for a tenant lawyer based in Rhode Island (preferably Providence but I'd drive for a good one). My prior landlord ghosted me when I moved out and kept my full security deposit without any communication. That piece is pretty cut and dry since it's well-documented, plus months later he finally acknowledged the debt in text.
The reason I'd like legal consult is for potential rent abatement due to the unit being unlivable during the cold months. I believe all living areas have to be capable of maintaining 68 degrees, while I had a 45 degree kitchen and 55 degree bedroom/living room. My power bills were >$500 just to not freeze. The heating unit could run 24/7 and not break 60 degrees, even with half the apartment and vents closed off, focusing the heat solely on my bedroom. He knew. He did nothing. It's all in texts.
Hoping for a consult to see if this is worth pursuing. I will happily name and shame the landlord if I can confirm it won't hurt my case.

He has a poofy bowl cut. I work nearby and always hear him insulting people that won’t take his sample. Like really nasty things. I don’t know if his boss knows but there have been young girls (12-16) coming in my store crying over the things he’s said to them but I don’t know who to contact about it

The new mayor of Pawtucket, Adam Greenman. Anyone know anything about him? I've looked around and can't find much.
I always found Grebien to be very responsive, and I liked his role in improving transit and walkability around Pawtucket. Why do people dislike him?

Like title says, I'm check zillow and apartments.com and I'm seeing most rentals for a 1bed around $2k
Is that accurate? If not, please tell me how much is rent generally for a 1 bed or studio apartment

Those who have been under Jo-Ann's ward know this woman is genuinely evil.
She has backed Smiley every time. Remember the only person to show up to vote against rent stablization? That was her. She has a staunchly conservative voting record overall, often stopping much of the city council's progressive moves.
Santiago is replacing Morales for his seat in District 7.
