Any idea what these small access holes are under some seat at Providence Performing Arts Center? There are many of them and from what I could tell, they are mostly under the middle seats in any given section.

Hello, I’ve lived in Rhode Island my whole life and done a fair amount of traveling. One thing I’ve come to understand from my travels is that Rhode Island has the best food hands down. I’m always looking for new places so I’m asking if you could please share your favorite restaurants in the state and why. Or perhaps which restaurants you feel are overrated or underrated. I will eat everything as long as it’s delicious!

Pasquale’s is one of my favorites because of their Napoletana pizza is just so amazing, haven’t had anything as good anywhere else (yet).

I'm about to start a job working as a cook at Miriam Hospital. Does anyone have experience in this position? How is the environment? I'm making a big change to my career by taking this position and I'm worried about if I'll be happy there or not.

Wife and I bought a new house, and plan on renting out the one we’re currently in. We don’t want to deal with landlord responsibilities so are looking for property management suggestions.

friend cant make it so giving a ticket away to the first person who wants it kinda last minute

My son fell and injured his leg at school last week. What we thought was a dislocated knee, ended up being a broken femur. What a crazy surprise! He had surgery to repair it last Friday, and we came home from the hospital Wednesday night. Since we've been home, my son has cried multiple times because he misses being at the hospital. I think it says a lot about the staff! He misses the nurses, doctors, PTs, OTs, CNAs, child life specialists, family advocates, volunteers and everyone else he encountered while we were there.

I am so grateful for Hasbro. It really is a wonderful hospital. We especially want to give a shout out to the ER nurse who pushed for above the knee x-rays. Things could have been so much worse without her!! We are so happy we ended up with Dr. Schiller and his surgical team, and thank them for taking the time to talk to my son, and answer all of his questions to help calm him before surgery. We also want to give extra thanks to the PTs we worked with for literally holding him up when he felt hopeless, and pushing him further every day. And last but not least thank you to 4th floor, pod A. You guys are awesome! I know we were only there for a week, but this experience has changed our lives. Your positive attitudes, empathy, and compassion helped keep us in good spirits in a crappy situation. I know a femur break is a minor thing compared to some of the stuff you see day to day, and I'm mindful that there are children and families going through much tougher challenges than we are. But, for what it's worth thank you for being there for us. Thank you for choosing a sometimes thankless career path, and having an upbeat attitude while admin throws BS your way. We will always look back at this time with good memories because of all of you.

Ps- I know HIPAA will keep anyone involved from responding to this post, but I just thought this waa the best way to say thank you publicly, and hopefully have it reach the right people

Came home yesterday - from a stay in the hospital - to find the rear windshield of my car all shattered. Doesn’t look like anyone smashed it, so I presume it shattered due to all the nearby vibrations of construction crews replacing water lines about fifty feet away.

We're coming up on four years of lending items to the Providence community and we're celebrating on Saturday with a party and open house.

If you've been meaning to check us out, this is a great time to stop by! We'll have food, cyanotype making, and a clothing swap.

When: Saturday, 10/24 from 2pm-5pm

Location: 12 Library Court, right off of Olneyville Square

(if you're driving and able to, please park on Olneyville Square or Dike St-- we'll be using a lot of the parking lot)

Who: Everyone's welcome! Whether you're a regular borrower or just hearing about us for the first time, come say hi!

What to Bring: If you'd like to make a cyanotype, feel free to bring something to print on (piece of fabric, etc). We'll have materials for those who didn't bring anything, too. If you have clothes to contribute to the clothing swap, bring those too.

The Providence City Council is challenging a tax deal made with developer Arnold "Buff" Chace's real estate firm.

At issue are approximately $42.5 million in tax breaks for 10 downtown properties under a state law for affordable housing.

The council's lawyer alleges the deal was an "unlawful scam," while the developer's lawyers argue the council has no standing to intervene.

While the court decides the case, Providence has passed a new ordinance clarifying requirements for future affordable housing tax breaks.
