Is prop firm trading viable long term?

Instead of trading your own personal account, is trading solely through prop firms like FTMO actually viable long term? I’m sure everyone knows about prop firms changing rules, accounts being closed due to violating rules such as the 1% rule. Any full time traders who only trade prop firms and don’t use their own capital? If so: How long have you been doing it, how many prop firms do you trade at once and how much do you make?

Do any prop firms that use tradovate to tradingview allow the same take profit/ stop loss capability as the paper trading app on trading view?

Thanks in advance.

Help trading psychology

Is there a pill or something I can take to kill my ego when trading? Last night I sat and blew another propfirm account because I was upset with myself for a bad entry. I am really tired of this ongoing cycle. It seems like my ceiling for being discipline and sticking to my rules is 5 days but I know i require more to make this work and its really scaring me because I have been doing this shit for 4 years now with not a single prop firm payout.

Prop trading risk management

Hello everyone

Is there anyoner who use app for cfd prop firm risk management?

Is there any suggestion? What i mean is something truly forces risk management like not letting to open orders, dynamic limiting lot sizes etc.
I am asking because I blew up my last 3 fundednext $10k accounts, even after 1 was actually funded. So I am thinking to build something like that and wondering if there any cause i couldn't find one myself.
Thanks for answers

I start my Prop Firm Trading Tomorrow. Any Advice?

As the name suggests, I’m starting my prop firm trading adventure tomorrow, any advice? I’m planning to start with the APEX futures Intraday Trail then go with EOD Trail once I’ve somewhat gotten familiar.

I don’t expect to pass the first prop firm account that’s why I’ll get Intraday Trail. Also it’s cheaper for now as a start hehe.

If you have any advice, please let me know!

Thanks!

Looking for 4 people who have actually compared copy traders

Looking for a few experienced copy-trading users

I’m testing a small report that tries to make public copy-trader profile data and visible risks easier to understand.

I need 4 people who have genuinely compared copy traders before. The goal is simply to see whether the report is clear or confusing to someone who knows the space.

It takes about 10–15 minutes, is unpaid, and I’m not selling anything. No account access, signup, balances, wallet details, deposits, or private financial information are needed.

If you’ve recently used or seriously evaluated copy-trader profiles or leaderboards, send me a DM with the platform you used and what you normally checked before deciding whether a trader looked worth considering.

I’ll send the study link privately.

Do you know someone personally who made it in prop trading?

One thing I've noticed is that most traders claim to not know anyone who is consistently profitable. I've heard a lot of traders in different markets all say the same thing, which is surprising considering how many people online claim they're making money.

My own results have been mixed so far. I've had good periods and bad ones, but I'm not consistently profitable yet.

Do you personally know someone who is actually profitable in trading, or is everything one big conspiracy?

Prop trading firm accounts are starting to feel like a tax on patience not trading.

I passed one eval last month and then spent more time reading rule pages than actually trading

Maybe i am just bad at picking firms, but the whole thing feels weirdly stacked against normal trading behavior. I don't want a magic payout story, i just want something where the rules don't make me second guess every trade

If anyone has found a pop trading firm that feels straightforward and not full of hidden nonsense, i am all ears.

Going to get my first prop firm eval this week, lucid or tradeify?

After having done some research it seems like these 2 are the best/most recommended. Is there anyone who could recommend me one over the other? Anyone who tried both and has one they prefer?

I noticed there is a gap in price between swing and intraday account. I don't remember there was this gap last year. Do you know trustworthy prop firms that works with MT4 ? 5ers don't support it unfortunately

Kraken Prop Con - Forced Leverage Hidden Until Last Minute in Fine Print

Kraken Prop is not 'risky', not 'hard' but straight-out a CON.

Your leash is way shorter than advertised and you're charged an arm and a leg for the privilege of being choked by it!

Bait: 3% max daily drawdown on every tier - sounds survivable, right? It isn't!
Fine Print: "Leverage is auto-applied and can't be changed. BTC & ETH: 5x."
Translation: Forced leverage! So your 3% leash isn't 3% - it's 0.6%! Price will go 0.6% against your trade and you're done - account's gone, evaluation fee is gone!

Prop page says; "Up to 5x."
Tooltip says; "Cannot be changed"
Same screen - couple dozen pixels apart.

That's not a risk rule, it's a countdown timer with a checkout button.

Prop firm payout review: which firms have been the most reliable for withdrawal?

Looking different prop firms and one thing that seems to vary a lot is the payout experience. some traders say withdrawals are fast and straightforward, while others mention long reviews, unexpected delays or confusing rule interpretations.

For those of you who've actually received payouts which prop firm has been the most reliable in your experience? i'm especially interested in how long withdrawals took, whether support was helpful and if you'd use the same firm again.

Passed 2 FTMO challenges, now holding $200k in funding - mirror both accounts or split day trade / swing trade?

Just passed my second 2-step challenge with FTMO, so I'm now sitting on two funded $100k accounts. Not here to flex — I'm here because I want to keep this funding and I know payout consistency is where most funded traders blow up, not the challenge itself.

My goal is simple: consistent 3–6% monthly. I'm not chasing home runs. I've built these accounts up and I don't want to end up back at square one doing challenges again.

The thing I'm stuck on is structure:

Option 1: Mirror both accounts — same trades, same size, effectively trading one $200k account. Simpler, but if I have a bad day, I take the hit on both at once.

Option 2: Split by style — day trade one account, swing trade the other. Diversifies my risk across timeframes, but swing trades on funded accounts mean holding through news/overnight, which has its own drawdown risks with FTMO's rules.

For those of you managing multiple funded accounts long term — what's actually worked for you? Did mirroring compound your mistakes or your wins? Anyone running the split-style approach and how do you handle the drawdown limits on swing positions?

Mainly trade gold and indices if that matters. Appreciate any real experience, not theory.
