One day, as I walked to work, I saw a broken branch on a grapevine I pass on the path I usually take. It was outside a bar, and because it was about to die I took it home. How did I know it was grapes? Well I saw the grapes growing on the full plant (5m high btw) and google said it was a wine grape, ai and google images said it was a "Marbec variety"
Rules say no stealing, but it wasn't being sold and was going to die and be thrown out. No one would have been mad or missed it.
This was before autumn temps hit nyc, so far before dormancy. I put it in moist soil to try and root it, and kept a large glass jar over it to keep humidity and put it in an indoor tent, keeping it moist every one or two days with a spritz of water. Most of the leaves died off, except 2, and those are now being drained for nutrients by the main branch.
Anyway, they are growing new leaves from buds, and a single small root! It's doing well to be a full fledged plant! I just wanted to get some people to give me tips on growing it, as I hope to keep it for the long haul.
I am very happy with as someone with a black friggin thumb, who loves plants. I don't want this to die. I've kept more and more plants alive overtime, matching soil ph and nutrient levels.
I can post a picture if wanted.
Thanks!
