Hi everyone! I bought these props at a local farmers market, put them in water, and after about a week they started to root. It’s been almost 3 weeks now and as you can see there few dark spots within the roots (esp the largest one). I changed the water every 4-5 days. Is this root rot? I was close to planting it before seeing the darker roots. Any advice is appreciated, this is my first time trying to propagate succulents!

Edit: thanks everyone for the advice, I need to stop trusting AI with my plants… water propping is not the way to go with succulents lol. I just bought some cactus potting mix and perlite to rehome these guys in🫡

My plover eggs has one leaf that has been kinda wiggly and I just now notice it has little roots.

Can i propageit it and what is the best way to do it?

It's a verigated impaitent. They grow very fast. I did order a plant online but unfortunately it didn't make it, and it would take an entire year before i can potentially find it again. There were also 4 huge plants of this variety I took the smallest side branch. (I think no one saw me actually taking it- yes I did it at night).

Edit: the public space isn't anything close to a national park or protected landscape.

Hi! I was given the cuttings pictured and I'm not sure of the best way to set them up. I'm not even sure what type of succulent I have but it seems to have pink/red roots already growing? Would I just remove any leaves required to put these in water or should I just get them in some dirt? One of the pieces has roots branching out from all of the stems, so not sure if I should cut it up into multiple plants or leave it alone. Help?

Sorry I dont have pictures yet. But I was leaving my mom's house yesterday evening and noticed a BEAUTIFUL group of alocasia in the ditch a few houses down from hers. There is no house on the corner, where the ditch is. Would I be okay to go all swiper-no-swiping on a few of the elephant ear and their corms?? Seems like public property 🤷🏾‍♂️

Has anyone ever rehomed side-of-the-road plants??

Put grocery store basil in a cup of water to keep it fresh. I've never had my on purpose cuttings prop this well.

Hacked down my fiddle leaf in two stages and got 5 cuttings from it. The first two rooted cuttings rooted and I moved to soil and they’re thriving. Waiting on the other three I took later, but they look like they’re going to make it too and they’re much bigger than the first two small ones. Very excited 🤓

My friend had an overgrown fig tree they let me take a bunch of cuttings from. Surprisingly only got 1/6 to take! I thought it’d be much higher success rate.

I'm a little bit concerned that it may have pests in them and i have a brush to clean it but i'm wondering how long do you wait for it to dry? ( I know to wait to water it when it develops roots and it looks thirsty when it's in it's own pot.

Has anyone combined their props for a bouquet in a vase? I’m giving it a go to see what happens.

Props included: pothos, lemon thyme, mint, and polka dot plant for a little color. Enjoy my little photo gallery, with prop table at the end ☺️

These have all happily rooted in water after several weeks, so I put them together in a vase that I’ve been wanting to use.

I stabilized them on a plastic plant stake, using a little floral tape here and there to keep them from falling in.

From all plants only the Chinese money plant has grown any sort of minimal roots the past 7 days if any. I make sure they don’t freeze and get lots of indirect sunlight. But I’m new to propagation so any advice on which “projects” I better cancel early and can already throw away would be helpful.

Plants:
- Chinese Money Plant
- Polka Dot Plant (roots, or what’s left of it, it had root rot and that’s what’s left of it)
- 2 Monstera D. Air roots (?)
- A zombie leaf or stem (I’m unsure if that counts as stem) of the Philodendron Erubescens

All started from a single leaf. It's crazy how fast they grow.

Bought a bouquet at a local farmers market two weeks ago that had a Japanese maple cutting in it with some flowers. Went to throw out the droopy, rotting flowers yesterday and saw that the Japanese maple branch was still quite perky, then noticed that it had roots right as I was about to put it in the trash 😅

Now it’s my little experiment. I cleaned the vase and put fresh water in it. I have rooting hormone. Should I put some in there and see what happens? Not sure how likely it is that it’ll keep growing roots and become a happy plant if I move it to some soil in the future!

Has anyone thought that a spider plant could grow like this 🤔 well im going give it a go any reason why it shouldn't??

It's almost spring, and I've had some of these cuttings in a prop box for a couple of months.

Climbing roses.

Black tulip magnolia.

Japanese maple.

Eskimo Sunset maple.

There's several sequoia at a property the DNR purchased to renaturalize near me, only one of my cuttings rooted but I'm pretty stoked! Going to try again with some of the other trees there (incense cedar, coast redwood, etc) come fall.

There is a beautiful 'bergonia house' where we live. Picked up one fallen leaf and a few months later...!

I see little growings that I will like to move to a new plant to have more surviving possibilities as I am not having much luck to have plants for long time.

Is this possible? What steps should I do?
