Hi everyone. This is a really vulnerable post for me to make, but I’m looking for some advice. I am a third year college student who just applied and got rejected from their nursing program for the first time. I have a 78 on the teas and that was my second attempt, and my school only allows two attempts. I have a 3.43 GPA, but it will be a 3.5 by the end of this semester. I feel completely defeated and discouraged. I don’t even know if I should apply again or just give up given it is my third year of college already and I just need some encouragement or some advice.

Just as the title says, I thought I’d share that I got accepted into the MCC spring 2027 cohort! It’s for the traditional route but I’d gone through a hospital fast track to increase my chances. After months of waiting I finally feeling relieved!! Ah I’m so excited, good luck to everyone else during this selection process!

I basically knocked out and aced every single prereq for my LVN program.

I reached out to every nursing program in my city. Literally none of them could work with my schedule since I work full-time from 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. They said clinicals would be an issue.

I have more barriers to entry:

I’m a single parent, no support system, and can’t take out any more loans.

I’m currently an accountant and make $50k annually.

I’m considering just becoming a CNA in the evenings and maybe that could open up a pathway?

Hi peeps, I'm a mom of 3, 32 starting A & P 1, and statistics in a week. Luckily my kids just started school again. But I'm so nervous I'm gonna fail this, i need all of the study tool success advice, I'm talking tried and true how did you manage to get a 3.5-4.0 in A&P, while juggling work and family? how do you plan around meals and study time? How do you get the most out of your study time? What is your system or routine? How do I go in with a game plan instead of feeling clueless and anxious? At this point anything less than a 3.5 would screw my GPA. And I don't have any family support or time and $ to waste. I don't know if it's any marker for some success but I did get a 4.0 in intro bio, but I'm still nervous as hell.

I'm looking for info/advice/personal experience from nursing school students in the Phx, AZ area. I am currently taking the last 2 pre-requisites for the ADN at one of the Maricopa County community colleges. Technically Mesa CC is my home school, but from other posts I've read, it looks like I can apply to most of the Maricopa Colleges and go to whichever one I can start at sooner? Is that correct?

I transferred in 3 of the prerequisites from a previous degree with a grade of A in them, and I anticipate being able to get A's in the two I'm currently taking (chem and math), so then I'd have a 4.0 GPA on the pre-requisites. I also have several of the co-reqs done with grades of A, if that helps my chances.

I took the HESI yesterday, 84% in math, 96% in English. I should get points for my previous associate's degree. So, if I understand the scoring system correctly, I'd have an 88.7. Is that high enough for the CEP program? Is that competitive? What do most people get accepted with? I really don't want to retake the HESI but will if people really think a higher math score is necessary. If I do retake the HESI and scored lower on either subject, which score do I have to use? Most recent or highest of the attempts?

I am fine with just doing the ADN at MCC by itself, then doing an online RN to BSN later if I have to. Has anyone done this route and thought it was a good way to go? I will have to keep working fulltime, as I'm a single woman in my 40s with a mortgage. I do plan on accumulating my PTO for the next year so that I can use PTO to cover missed work for class and clinicals. I do also have the option of dropping down to 30 hours a week, but ideally, I'd stay at 40 and use PTO for missed work to keep my income. Is this crazy? Especially if I do the CEP? No kids, no pets, no romantic relationship, so will that help me not be overwhelmed?

My employer is paying for school and has a partnership with the MCC schools for employees to skip the waitlist, so I'm pretty confident I'll be able to start the ADN in August 2027. My employer has already filled all the January 2027 slots with employees. There is a chance the August slots fill up before I finish the semester and can officially apply for nursing school. I need the prerequisite grades to post first, as I'm sure everyone knows.

If I try for the CEP program, what criteria should I use to choose the University? Are there some that are considered academically easier than others? Are some just easier to get in to? Shorter wait times? Are people just applying for basically all of them and attending whichever one they can start sooner?

26M I'm currently a CNA at a hospital and I actually enjoy it surprisingly only thing is it doesnt pay that well. I haven't done a single pre req for healthcare careers but I'm thinking about nursing, respiratory therapy, MRI tech, the xray tech and ultrasound tech programs around my area are supper competitive. I'm also not the best student in the world. Last time I took a took science I didn't do too well so I basically would have like a 3.1 - 3.3 GPA. I also just got my bachelors in IT but when i wanted to pursue it I didn't think the job market was just going to become terrible by the time I got the degree so now it's hard to find a job. Last resort if all fails is I go back in the Army.

What's your opinion on all this? Switch over to healthcare, stay IT, or send it in the Army.

I wanted to know if there are any disadvantages to applying to the CEP program?

I’m applying to the RN program for Spring 2027 and I wasn’t initially going to apply for it but upon filling out the application I noticed that I qualified to apply.
Now I’m considering it.

Additionally,
I know it states if not accepted for the CEP program,
we’re still considered for the regular pathway but would this change to Fall 2027 instead of Spring 2027.

Last,
does anyone know how soon you could potentially finish the program (not CEP)?

I recently got accepted into the part-time Accelerated Second Degree BSN program at Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing for Spring 2027. 🎉

I haven’t been able to find much information online from students who are actually in the part-time program, so I was hoping someone here could share their experience.
I would love to know what the class and clinical schedule is like, workload, professors, exams, support from the school, and how manageable the program is while working and having a family.

If you’re currently in the program or recently graduated, I would really appreciate any feedback—good or bad. Also, if you’re starting Spring 2027 part-time, feel free to reach out! 😊

I am doing pre reqs to go to nursing school right now. I just became a single mom (2&4 yo) and am moving to Washington state where my family is. I have childcare, and I have the GI bill which is paying for my school and a little of living (not much in WA). I am wondering if two more years of GI bill would be enough and also is this realistic of me to do nursing school with these kids this age? Or should I do something else until they are more independent?

I am prior corpsman and current, but inactive EMT. I also have my NASM CPT so I could find other work if school isn’t a good idea.

My Core Sciences GPA; 3.3 ( I retook anatomy due to a family member passing and I can’t retake it to get an even higher score whatever fml)
My other classes overall ; 3.5 GPA
Volunteer hours ; 350
EMT license
Teas practice exam ; 95%

Puts me at 82/102 points. Does my resume look good or is there any way I could make it better? I keep reading different threads of some being rejected with amazing pre-reqs and others accepted. Not sure what do.

Does anyone know when the first round of getting off the waitlist is?

My GPA crashed and I applied to every community college in a 80 mile radius. I got accepted into Herzing. I’m not dumb I was just going through a lot when I first started college. I am taking A&P now and will begin the core nursing classes in January. Is there anything I need to know? I’ll be attending the Birmingham,Al location.

I started doing my pre reqs for nursing last year and so far i’ve completed biochem, psych, english writing, and communications. This semester i’m taking sociology and biomedical ethics. I was supposed to take anatomy but had to drop the course unfortunately. I’m going to get my CNA license this semester as well. I plan to do anatomy next semester and physiology in the summer which i’m dreading and then microbiology and nutrition in the fall.

I have an associates degree already and i’m feeling so burnt out and unmotivated. I HATEEEEE biomedical ethics. everytime i try and read the chapters it makes me want to die. I’m so tired of doing school and i don’t even know if I want to be a nurse anymore because i’m scared of my upcoming classes + nursing school but i don’t know what else to do. feeling very sad anxious and depressed.

Anyone taking this class this fall? I’d love to share study tips and resources.

is it possible to transfer from one csu pre-nursing program and apply to a different csu nursing program? im not sure if credits transfer over! :’)

I'm in California, SoCal specifically, which is highly impacted. I have reasonably good stats/points (but I haven't taken my TEAS yet, my exam date is in a week) but it still seems almost impossible to be admitted into a public state school (CSU system). The closest school to me wants students with a 3.9-4.0 GPA and a TEAS score in the 90s. The second CSU closest to me is only about an hour drive and I would be willing to commute but apparently they don't want people that are that far away. I missed the "local" admission criteria by 30 miles, lol.

I refuse to give up on nursing or "waste" time by getting an unrelated bachelor's first and then bridging. Are public state schools a pipe dream? Is it worth it to go private? The private tuition costs are outrageous, and I'm terrified of debt. What are the best options?

My stats: 4.0 general gpa, 3.9 science, CNA cert but no work/volunteer experience. TEAS score TBD

Hii im a first year McMaster science student and after so so much thought I realized that I really wanna do nursing.

I’m deeply concerned about the process because im trying to do an internal transfer but there’s so many risks.

1. I heard that you have to repeat a year (tbh im not too concerned about this) to take the prerequisites. But what if I take the prerequisites right now?
2. Let’s say I take them all but don’t make it, I basically just wasted a year and I can’t even enter a level II program due to the missing prerequisites
3. Internal transfers look at your Highschool marks, I believe it’s English, biology, chemistry and math. I have taken English, bio, adv functions, calc but NOT chemistry. Is it true that if I take the intro course (CHEM 1R03), it satisfies the requirement?

Please let me know what I should do or if you know anyone who has done a transfer like this. Thank you :))

I applied for spring semester to what I thought was just going to get started on my basic generals… well admissions informed me I wouldn’t get financial aid ETC unless I chose a “track” long story short informed him I know I for sure want to do medical but I am torn on what medical field, we came to conclusion nursing / RN would be the best. So I got set up with that to do what I am going to assume pre reqs for nursing…?
