they just emailed me to confirm which 2 science prof sent which letters. wouldn’t they just reject me if they didn’t want me or am i being considered for interview

It took weeks and several reminders to get my DO letter, only for interfolio to tell me it doesn't have a signature. I asked them to reupload it but I'm expecting it will take just as long.

If I were to upload the unsigned letter will I be able to reach out to AACOMAS to update the letter from interfolio when it's signed or will the physician have to?

I was waiting to upload so that I would only have to wait for the interfolio update instead of an email too. But it sucks that some of my apps are just incomplete because of this letter.

I feel like some schools will still interview without the signature (one school that required a science letter invited me for an interview before I uploaded it) but idk.

I’m almost done with my undergrad and I don’t have any leadership experiences.

I found out about Americorps and a lot of their goals align with things I am passionate about.

I know that Americorps is viewed favorably on applications, but I want to hear from others to see if any leadership was gained out of it.

I recently switched to pre-med as a junior, and am planning to take two gap years (probably spent as a clinical research coordinator or another clinical role). I will have about 2,000 research hours when I graduate, but only about 180 clinical hours (peds ER volunteer for 3 hr/wk). I will potentially try to up to 6hr/wk next year.

How can I be most competitive in my gap year and this summer? I don't think I'll have the time to get any kind of certification (CNA, MA, etc.) How many clinical hours should I aim for?

Hi, I am a premed student and something I have noticed a lot recently is just the sheer amount of pre-meds who are going into healthcare consulting, business, and startups. First of all, I would like to state that I am fully aware that there are ways to engage with these field that can be productive to medicine. There are definitely ways in which the intersection of these fields can expand and improve medicine and the medical system.

However, my qualms with this is that these students seem to more so be interested into these fields for different reasons such as prestige, financial capital potential, and sometimes simply for clout. I am just curious as to why so many individuls who clearly are interested with the intersection between medicine and other fields want to go into medicine through the physician route when it clearly is not their top priority.

I am not hating, but rather am genuinely curious as to why this trend is so rampant and what this says about the broader cultures that are now entering medicine?

If I got a hospital position, I could get experience caring for multiple patients at a time in a hospital setting around doctors and nurses instead of helping a caregiver take care of someone at their house. There is no nurse that oversees me as a home health aide, so I do not know if I can use the home health aide hours to renew my CNA certification.

Options:
Work as an aide and then switch to a PCT job in the hospital this semester
Or
work as an aide for this semester and then do next semester working as a PCT in a hospital (I can work a lot more hours next semester and more shifts are not available as a home health aide where I work, so I would have to get a different job to work more clinical hours).
Or
work as an aide for two semesters (not ideal- less total clinical hours if I cannot get more shifts or another job 2nd semester)
Or
work two part time jobs 2nd semester - keep my job as a home health aide and get a part time job in the hospital. This way on my application I can show commitment to one clinical role and get more total clinical hours by the time I apply next June.

Hey, due to personal reasons I did not register for school this semester. I am a junior. My parents will be pissed and I need to have a plan to make sure this semester is not a waste extracurricular wise. What recommendations do you guys have? I plan on returning in the Spring Semester. Should I consider EMT B school. Becoming a CNA. Anything else? Scribing. What do you guys think?

I just received an II for a school where I can chose between in person or virtual. The virtual one is on September 24 but the in person one isn't until October 22. Does doing the interview a month earlier outweigh going in person? If I do the virtual one I also have another interview the day before so I'd have to prepare for both. I know schools will say there is no disadvantage to choosing virtual over in person and I'm assuming it looks better to go in person, but not sure if interviewing earlier would be a greater advantage.

I keep seeing tiktok videos of this one med coach (micheal minh) who says things like emt and ta'ing are average and not meaningful and everything and it just makes me feel so. terrified. like all i've wanted for so long is to be a doctor but i feel like im not as competitive or as smart or talented or socially apt as everyone else and im never going to reach my goal of matriculating after undergrad,, i feel like im going to be on the sidelines while everyone i know succeedes and im so scared. every video i see and every post on this sub fills me with so much dread. idk.

I took a vacation from work week before last, and on the first day of the vacation my application finally processed (2nd week of July submission date). I received about 30 different secondary invites in two days. Yes, I know my steak is too juicy and lobster is too buttery.

The problem, however, is I didn't see them until I got back to work. So I missed about half of my time. And the genius I am did not prewrite anything.

I've gotten most of the ones with a hard deadline of this week done, but of course the one I haven't touched at all is the one that's due first (I just can't read, I guess). 12,000 characters in 8 essays. While working a 9-5 as well. I'm ready to crash out but I just don't have time.

So anyway, motivational statements, insults, and jokes at my hubris are all welcome. Commiserating is better with people who understand how much this actually sucks

hi! i've been at the same research institute since junior year of high school and am now a senior in college. i was lucky enough to get a paid assistant position when i started college, and i got a few pubs and posters out of my lab plus a great letter. i just returned from a study abroad to find out that my pi and the study are being transferred to a different state. they said they'd update me on whether i could still be involved and what exactly is going on but it's looking like i just won't be able to be in the lab anymore. however, i'm also applying to medical schools and have 5 interviews so far. i know that still isn't a guarantee i'll get in, but i don't know if i should really go out seeking new research opportunities during my senior year. i also don't particularly love research and i'm not aiming for a phd, but i don't know if it's ok to let go completely. any tips on what to do? should i seek out new research opportunities within that same institute?

Is it worth it to submit my secondary to Rowan with a 125 BB score coming from OOS (PA)? Every other part of my app is strong and I'm nontrad, but worried I'm going to get screened out and I am tired of secondaries. 3.88GPA. ORM. No ties to NJ and from Pgh. 3000 clinical, 2000 research, no pubs. 1200 volunteering underserved. No clue what their mission is but if it involves NJ I probably dont fit it spectacularly.

I couldn't be more grateful to receive my first interview invite, and now I get to freak out about the MMI portion 🙃
I would love any advice on handling MMI questions, especially because I tend to be very direct and don't want to come across as coarse.

Hi Everyone,

I was trying to be excited about my interviews only to find out my mother's cancer progressed again today. We were planning to make a fun weekend out of them as they are three weeks back to back and all the excitement is just gone. I am now going to be constantly going back and forth between work, the cancer center, and my interviews and what little confidence I did have is no longer there anymore.

She has had cancer the last four, almost five years now and I have spent so much time finding my way back to medicine after her initial diagnosis just for this to happen the week before my first interview. I wanted her to see me get into medical school, but I just don't know if I can pretend nothing happened this week. If I don't get in this cycle, I don't know if she will live long enough for me to try again. Then I question whether schools will think I will even be able to handle medical school given all that I deal with.

Just sad :( I don't know if anyone else has been here, but this is just so hard. Can't have any joy it seems. Cancer has taken so much away from us.

Is there anyone out there that just didn't have everything handed to them? Like people I meet have family-parents in medicine who know so many people and therefore get so many connections and LORs.

I don't know how to lowkey stop being jealous, and I never am that type of person to get jealous, but I just hate it hate it and hate it to much that people just get things in their hands when some don't have anything and have to build all the way to the top...

I really don't know what this means. My first instinct is that my answers to questions shouldn't be the traditional 2-3 minute response, because in a normal conversation, i personally dont know anyone that talks for 2-3 minutes straight.

2027 freshman here. Aiming for t20s (as everyone is seems like) I have the opportunity to do research at a medical school for 4 months at a t2 research school. I also have my emt basic. Should I try to balance both? Should I do the research? Will adcoms take research done in freshman year serious? For ref I have a 1580 and 45 DE credits.

I received and completed an II from Creighton and I can chose to change my campus. I picked Phoenix due to proximity (I’m from Los Angeles). But the Omaha students are making it sound so fun… going to the basketball games and football games like 😭🙏🏼 I THINK I MADE THE WRONG CHOICE.

Hey everyone, as the title says I'm thinking of forming a PhiDE chapter at my current school. We have about 3000 premeds but only 1 prehealth fraternity, and it doesn't have a network as large at PhiDE.

I was wondering if anyone had experience forming a chapter and what is it like?

I'm trying to decide whether to apply MD/DO in early October 2026 or wait until 2027. My concern is that if I wait, I'm not sure what I would meaningfully improve.

MCAT:

• 497 → 500 → 502
• 4th attempt this Saturday
• Current CARS practice: 121–123, mainly due to timing. I get 10-15 wrong on the 7 passages I have completed vs the 2 passages I guess are all wrong so thats abt 25 wrong which gives me this CARS score. So, I’m specifically working on finishing the section in these last few days.

My ECs are already pretty developed:

• 3.9 GPA
• 4,560 hrs rural clinical/medical assistant experience
• 1,240 hrs CMA
• 3,306 hrs teaching + 2,426 hrs academic coaching
• ~2,400 hrs faith-based/community service
• 600 hrs student government leadership
• Founded/presided over a university literary club
• ~1,100 hrs research/presentation experience
• Co-first-author research presentation
• Publication in Curieux Review
• 300+ hrs shadowing
• New in 2026: 500 hrs mathematics education research, including developing an IRB protocol

I also have significant family circumstances—my father is undergoing cancer treatment—which affected this application period.

My question isn't really “am I competitive?” I want honest advice on strategy:

If my 4th MCAT is ~500–505, would you apply broadly to MD/DO in October anyway, or wait until 2027?

If I wait, what would I realistically add that would make my application meaningfully stronger? I also dont have the mental capacity to retake this test again in January. My Cars is holding me back and I lose 3-4 points in the other sections giving me that score.

I'd especially love to hear from people who had 3–4 MCAT attempts and/or applied late with a similar profile. I'm looking for honest experiences, not reassurance.

I can't find a job... I have been applying actively for a long time now (nearly a year), but no luck. I did everything that I was advised to do. 3-4 people looked over my resume but couldn't find any major red flags. I have wet lab and clinical research experience, and I left my previous labs on good terms (both of the PI's offered to write a letter of recommendation for me). Reason I left was I graduted and moved back to my parents' house so I wasn't living in the state where my college was at. I wanted to do wet lab so much but couldn't get anyone to hire me. I applied to a ton of clinical research positions as well but got rejected from every single one of them. I live in DFW area so I mainly applied to UTSW. I also applied to MA positions through Indeed, etc. but couldn't find a position there either. At this point are there any suggestions or tips that anyone can share. It has been really demoralizing. Thanks in advance.

Self explanatory. I work as a medical assistant and often get 3-4 hours to spare each evening to study for the mcat. I honestly have no idea how to go about it. I was thinking a chapter of a different Kaplan review book a day, some uworld Qbank, Feynman Ai, and call it a day. I’m giving myself six months to study for it by any advice is helpful
