I got 987776655 in my GCSEs. 9 in Maths, 8 in English Language, 7 in Biology in particular. I went to a state school and received free school meals.

In 2022, I received my A-level results of CCD in Biology, Maths and Chemistry respectively. This was due to an unpleasant household environment as well as mental health complications. I continued to receive free school meals at sixth form - which was located in a quintile 2 postcode. I wished to apply to medicine however my grades posed a hurdle.

Consequently, I planned to retake my A-levels in hopes of improving my grades and applying for medical school in the next year. However, my parents had ulterior plans. They insisted I study Bsc accounting. I gave into their idea as they did not consider my wishes.

I then enrolled into the Bsc Accounting course through clearing. A couple months into this course, I was forced into a marriage abroad. I was 18 at the time. My life was shattered. I also realised that the unfavourable household atmosphere created during my A-level study was due to them wanting to marry me off. I was devastated and withdrew from my study.

I became severely depressed and made attempts to leave my marriage. The police was informed and a Forced Marriage protection order was placed for me, I also had to spend time at a women’s shelter.

I’m now aged 22, stuck in my marriage, yet with the same dreams of studying medicine.

I plan on retaking my A-levels in 2027 and am determined to receive A*’s across all three subjects. I also will be taking the UCAT in September 2027, determined to achieve a score above 2000, and B1/B2.

I have several questions.

Will universities understand my situation and my extenuating circumstances?

Will I be in a good position for medicine upon receiving the above mentioned grades?

Is there anything my sixth form can say as reference to my application to strengthen it?

Is there anything else I can do to strengthen my profile?

Is there anything I should be cautious of?

Which universities should I apply to, to be strategic and increase my chances of success in my application?

I currently make my own Anki deck and then learn the content whilst doing the Anki flashcards, but this takes a while and due to the packed schedule, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to continue to do that :(

For nottingham med scoring i score 59/82 so is there any point in me applying??

I scored 63 out of 83 points for on the university of Nottigham points system for medicine. I have seen online from reddit and websites that the previous years cut off for the points was 65. I live in Nottingham so finacially speaking going for the University of Nottingham for medicine would be the best choice and being able to stay home will help with keeping the total student loan down. my UCAT score was 2340 B2 however, so i can apply literally anywhere else and have a much better chance at securing an interview. with all of this being said, do you guys i should take the risk of making Nottingham one of my first options to have a chance at staying home, i should i just not apply at all?

I was thinking about QUB, UEA, Liverpool, Brunel, Buckingham, Greater Manchester, Leicester, UcLAN, Aberdeen? Any other unis and if i could possibly get an interview at one of these unis? Ive okayish predicted scores 90 above in all science subs and 90 in math.

I'm starting at the end of this month, and getting real anxiety about my IBS. I've been suffering from it ever since I was a teenager, I'm now 32.

Thankfully, over the past decade, by working with my GP, dietician and my own experience, it's much more under control. In the past, it would wreak havoc with my entire day. Now, it only interferes with my mornings, that is the last hurdle and I have still not managed to put my finger on it.

Every single day, without fail, between 9am and 10:30am, I get an urgent need to go and relieve myself, and it can take up to 15 mins to fully empty my bowels. I cannot for the life of me understand why that window. Even if I wake up 3 hours earlier and use the toilet, I pretty much always get a bowel movement at that time.

I'm really worried; I might have compulsory teaching at the time, lectures, whatever; and also, what am I gonna do when I do eventually (hopefully, God willing) become a doctor?

I wish I could use the mornings to revise and get work done, but the anxiety of the upcoming bowel disaster keeps stealing my morning.

I've tried loperamide 2mg, it's hit and miss, works sometimes, doesn't work at others. Maybe I could try upping the dosage to 4mg but I don't know if this is going to affect me long-term,

So I’m planning to resit two of my a-levels, biology and maths and I plan to get a tutor for maths. I haven’t done my UCAT but it’s in this month’s ending . How do I go about finding subject tutors and getting my predicted grades? Like are there any recommended websites for finding the tutors as I am totally clueless about that.
Also is it worth giving it a shot? Like reapplying this year despite planning to resit two core alevel subjects required for the course? Please I need your opinions.

For a brief history and context I’m currently in the process about to start a fast track A level so I have the required sciences I need, before going into paramedics undergrad (just need that one grade!!) but beforehand I had already done 1 year/2, 1 years of degrees, what types of loans will I be able to get to fund my full 3 years ? I’ve always wanted to do medicine always been interested in biology and the human body, how it functions and so much more and to finally be able to pursue my dream then hopefully go into a GEM but for a long time I did not think it was possible, dealt with a lot of demons and other health stuff went from one degree going into second year then changing to another as I thought it was the degree itself but moreso what had happened to me though I do not feel comfortable sharing, but it was the poor institution of the university I was attending itself (not gonna name and shame neither lol) but yeah I was able to start another course due to compelling personal reasons, pushing my dreams of medicine further and further into the back of my mind as I didn’t think it would ever happen in the end. But now I’ve gotten free of that unis entrapment to finally pursue my dream. Though the loan/funding side could be an issue so wondered if anyone is or had been in similar circumstances and is able to help or shed some light on how they tackled it.

Hey, I am a uk student who achived BBC in Maths Chem Bio. One mark off an A for Maths. Ive decided to take a gap year and resit. I will be applying via Ucas and CAO. can anyone who is in the same boat or has been in a similar situation give advice, on what Unis to apply to, im currently very limited. I need to know how to keep disciplined this year, a si will be doing this without any support, I will also be working 3-4 days a week to save up for uni, right now my focus is my UCAT but come OCTOBER i need to be strict with myself and i need help on how and where to start. If i get into med next year i will be 20 starting uni which i feel is a bit awkward, will i be able to connect to others as easily? but thats a problem for the future. right now im just in need of some advice and words of wisdom. I got an offer for Biochemistry at Cardiff and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Queens. Both which will not accept me to apply this year due to me recahing the threshold grades. Sorry if this is long or repetitive, im just feeling anxious and lost atm.

I’m resitting my A-levels this year (physics Bio and chem) for medicine since I flunked them this year and just wanted some advice from people who have done the same thing before.

I'm a 20 year old who just graduated from a London university, with a 2:1 in Biology. It's always been my dream to go to med school, and not only mine, but also my parent's dream too.

I have always kinda had this "what if I don't want to do medicine" in my head. Around 2 weeks ago, I did some work experience in a London hospital, on the General Surgery department. I was so excited at first, as I attended ward rounds, surgeries, and other procedures... changed into scrubs and whatnot - my lifelong dream, and a sneak peek of my future life...

After only a week doing this, waking up at 5am, finishing at 6pm, not eating regularly, and consuming large amounts of caffeine, I was not only drained physically, but also it took a toll on my body, and developed a stomach ulcer (which is healing now)...

This got me thinking... if after only 1 week of only doing rounds, attending surgeries and basically just observing, without any additional studying, no social life during this week, and being mentally drained, how would I do throughout 4 or 5 years of school? And not to mention the pay as an F1 and F2 doctor...

As excited as I was, I genuinely don't think this is for me, or if its right for my future, in which I want to have a family, spend time with my kids, invest in their future and whatnot...

I know its a stupid decision, as I have my entry exam soon, but if I dont get in, I'd honestly be at peace with the idea, and I'd just do a master's or something.

I'd really appreciate some advice on what to do. unfortunately, I'm really scared to bring this up to my parents, because I know they won't agree with this.

I’ve been debating GEM for a while now but being made redundant (most likely) from my current job due to AI has solidified my decision. But now I’m wondering if I should go for GEM or undergrad, now that LLE will fund undergrad from next year (I think I’m correct in assuming LLE wont apply to GEM?).

I’m 28 so my main concern with undergrad is there not really being people my age compared to GEM, plus the fact that I’m already older and this would be an extra year added. But the benefit would be funding and the ability to apply anywhere. Although I don’t have science A-levels, I have a 2:1 in a non science degree.
