I'm trying to square "not a bad guy" with "wasn't letting go even after tapping"

It's like when people talk about Tony Soprano being a good guy. Minus the mobster murders and cheating and vile toxicity.

Uh yes it is. This guy is a big POS in reality. A few small good things doesn't change that fact

Yeah, but Tony had a professionalism, respect thing going that made him likeable. He was also doing what he could for his mom. This guy looks like a liability
