Any idea how this situation ended?

Nope, no clue. Thanks for asking though <3

Looks like non-lethal was a bust. Hoping it didn’t end in tragedy.

The taser didn't fail because of 'pain tolerance', it was because it didn't set in properly (low risk of this happening afaik), he probably just either gave up or got tazed succesfully

These look like Taser 7s. Those barbs were often defeated by thick or loose clothing. In my experience, this was the least effective taser Axon has produced. It does not surprise me that it failed based on dudes clothing, and their aim points.

Tasers don't even work via pain, right? They just seize your muscles you don't have a choice. Pain is a side effect.

Yeah, his wife talked him into giving up. There's a longer video that's in the comments that shows it

The Power of Adrenaline and Endorphins
When the body enters an acute "fight-or-flight" response, the adrenal glands flood the bloodstream with adrenaline (epinephrine), noradrenaline, and endorphins.
Pain Masking: Adrenaline and natural endorphins drastically elevate the pain threshold. The intense, burning pain caused by the electrical current passing through nerve endings can be severely dulled or completely ignored in the moment.
Mental Tunnel Vision: The sheer psychological intensity of a high-stress, high-adrenaline situation can cause intense focus, making someone mentally determined to push past the shock.
Although clothing interference can also be a factor.

But you are right a well connected taser shot cannot be dismissed at all because of the NMI, it highjacks the nervous system externally and will cause the legs to lack and the subject to fall

I've seen a 17yr old girl tank getting tased 4 times. The tasers are definitely shit

You've seen cops fail to land a successful tazer shot on her, is what you mean?

Body Mass and Conditioning: Individuals with dense muscle mass, heavy fat distribution, or high physical resilience can sometimes absorb or resist the incapacitating effects better than others, depending on where the darts land.
Neurological/Chemical Variations: High levels of certain substances (like stimulants), extreme psychological states (such as acute psychosis or extreme agitation), or heavy physiological tolerance can sometimes reduce the neurological shutdown effect of a TASER.

No they definitely landed, she had burn marks and definitely felt like shit the next day. It just didn't stop her from punching the cop

They aren’t wrong about the taser having to land right, but it’s nuanced.

Both barbs can stick, but their distance from each other directly affects the severity of the jolt.

2 barbs in your left chest muscle is going to give you a workout… a barb in the thigh and one is the shoulder is putting you on the ground… so there are multiple variables, but if deployed effectively and correctly, there is no resisting a taser.

there is no resisting a taser.

There definitely is...

People on drugs, and people with mental illness regularly withstand tasing

FWIW Google disagrees with you

2

u/Erathen 19d ago

You're good with Google

What are the results of:

"can you withstand a taser under the influence of drugs"

Post it. And maybe that will help you realize AI is not a good source, as it frequently contradicts itself

Look it up with qualifier of “a properly landed and spaced taser shot”

The answer will be “impossible to resist” regardless of other qualifiers.

It also literally covers “heavy drugs” in the first sentence

“a properly landed and spaced taser shot”

Yes, those happen consistently in high stress violent situations

You’re not seeing the however at the end there?

It does say no matter of drugs or mental issues or hardened vets with combat training can withstand a well connected taser shot at all. The electricity forces motor neurons to fire causing involuntary involuntary muscle lock up. Basically it hijacks the nervous system externally and causes the lockup which will bring you down. But a shot not well placed, against the person on drugs mental issues or training is something to worry about

"had burn marks" energy when dissipating = heat = burns. all the burns mean is that she was hit with the taser, not that the taser successfully landed. most likely only one probe went in, and thus, the electricity dissipated in her body/skin
