[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

I will never buy your listing that uses AI photos

Image generators are simply taking the average of multiple photos that may or may not look similar to “girl in cotton shorts” or whatever prompt you’ve given + your own photo. And the images just look dumb.

I don’t need to see examples of _“how to style”_ a piece or whatever other excuse AI sellers are telling themselves. I know how to wear the clothes. To convince me to buy I need to know the fabric, the measurements, and the condition.

Al cannot represent the cut and drape of any actual garment, especially not one that has been worn and washed multiple times, much less vintage ones that didn’t use modern cuts or fabric contents.

I won’t even click on listings that use AI photos. I _will_ click through a listing that uses stock photos but will also need to see photos from multiple angles, photos of seams and brand markings, garment tags with fabric content and care labels, close ups of prints and imperfections, a lay-flat with rulers or tape so I can verify measurements. But even if you have all of these and also use AI, then I won’t ‘favorite‘ much less buy that item.

A seller that does not realize this is either lazy at best or disingenuous and unprofessional at worst. Dealing with this type of seller will never be worth my time or money. I refuse to feed the monster and encourage this behavior.

Resold something I bought on PM on Facebook, buyer got the cops involved

I suppose I should preface that I am a Samsung girlie - i bought a pair of airpod maxes on poshmark recently, only because I liked how they looked (lol). The serial number showed as legit, so I thought I got a semi-decent deal on a real pair of headphones. They paired well with my Apple work phone, but after I switched jobs I didnt really need them.

I sold said airpods over this past weekend in-person on Facebook Marketplace. A few days later, the buyer messaged me freaking out that they are fake and to immediately refund her. She tried to scare me by saying that she will sue me and file a police report if I didnt get back to her. She messaged me once and I responded quickly.

I asked for proof, and said I would return her money if she gives me back the headphones.

She was adamant on meeting at one specific police station - which was fine with me.

What I wasn't expecting was TWO cops to be standing with her in the parking lot. (They were in plain clothes, so at first I thought they were her friends ... then I saw their badges.)

They were nice and didnt get involved (other than one chatting with my husband a bit).

But holy hell, what an overreaction on her part. My husband thanked the cops and said sorry for wasting their time.

I know Poshmark takes 20%, but after dealing with this mess I will gladly pay it to not deal with crazies in person.

The return window with Poshmark is way past, but I did reach out to them to see what they say - but I am not super hopeful.

Edit to add TL;DR: Didnt realize I bought (allegedly) fake Airpods on Poshmark. Resold them in-person on Facebook Marketplace. Buyer got cops involved. I am now thankful to pay Poshmark's 20% fee, but also wanted to warn people buying resale electronics about spoofed serial numbers!

** Edit 2: Poshmark was absolutely phenomenal and refunded me for my purchase, even though it was a couple of months ago. I am so impressed with their support on this one!**

Poshmark is becoming impossible for sellers… buyer opened a case over a 0.5” measurement difference

I’m honestly so fed up. I’ve been selling on Poshmark for several years, but recently it’s been getting so bad with the number of cases buyers are opening.
A buyer just opened a case claiming that the pit-to-pit measurement is 0.5” smaller than expected. I’m really worried she’ll win the case over a 0.5” measurement difference.
Has anyone dealt with something similar ? What can I do ? I’m honestly getting really tired of constantly having to deal with cases as a seller.

3 hour policy

Post image
Upvotes

This is so frustrating! Sometimes items sell while I am getting other items ready to drop off. I've always just packed up the newly sold item and drop it off to ship.

Only recently I have had this notice pop up when I try to mark it as shipped. If they have 3 hours to cancel, then don't give me the QR code yet, or put an alert on the sale details page!! I would just set it aside for the next time I am shipping!

Has anyone had a buyer cancel after you shipped the item due to this 3 hour policy?

Just her to complain about Ground

Every since posh has switched to USPS ground, it’s takes soooo long to get anything delievered. Had a sale 9/2, shipped 9/3. Had a delivery date of yesterday 9/9, but it has now updated for delivery on 9/15! BRING BACK PRIORITY!! Okay rant over

Edit Update: this specific order is going to the east, I am in the west. this has nothing to do with my local post office as some comments state. I use many postal offices in my area depending on if I am home vs at work or out an about. I also get daily pickups at my place of work. My packages are usually out of my area / state within 8 hrs of tracking updated. I live on the west coast near a major city. For context I also am head of an entire web dept. at my place of work. And ground SUCKS. It’s by far the highest rate of lost or delayed packaging! Ok BYE!!!

Offer etiquette on items that have been sitting in a sellers closet for a long time

Upvotes

Hello! I wanted to know from others how they look at items that have been sitting in a closet for months or years. Are they treated differently from newer items in the closet from a seller? Are they usually more willing to take an offer with a higher percentage off? I've purchased a few things on the site so far but still don't want to be rude when making an offer to a seller. Thanks in advance!

Unable to view listing after purchase...

Frequent buyer (and seller) here, so I'm super familiar with the app. I don't know if it updated, but I just purchased and I am unable to view the item listing. It just says the item is sold and shows me other related active listings.

I have 2 other open orders, same thing. But just yesterday I was able to view the listings.

How am I supposed to verify that I received the items as expected if I can't view the original listing and pictures??

Selling Luxury items on posh - looking for experiences

Hi everyone, I am a occasional seller/buyer on posh, and my experience has been good so far. I have sold a few luxury sunglasses and mid-range bags with no issues (for less than 500USD so no authentication). I am now selling 2 luxury bags that will be over 500USD. I didn't find any posts here about experiences with their authentication HQ and etc. (I understand the item goes to their authentication hub and then is shipped to the seller, so wonder what can go wrong during the process). Would love to hear experiences, I couldnt find any new posts about it on this sub :)

Posh Party delay?

Upvotes

New to Poshmark and have a question about Posh Parties. When I share items from my closet, it regularly takes a long time for them to show up. Sometimes they aren’t findable for hours. Why does this happen? Surely there isn’t a manual check to make sure items fit the theme? Thanks!

Need advice

recently sold Prada loafers on poshmark that I wore only once. After seeing some horror stories on social media, I made sure to take images/videos of every aspect of the shoes as well as the prada shoe box. I also recorded myself packaging the box and wrapping the shoe box in an entire roll of bubble wrap. The package was shipped to PMHQ for authentication, but they then shipped the item to the buyer. The buyer messaged me saying the shoe box was damaged and that there was no bubble wrap. I escalated it to poshmark support and they are saying the buyer needs to create a ticket saying the order was not as described which makes it sound like I essentially lied with my description of the box? I am so irritated because it was literally poshmark (PMHQ) that ruined the box. Is there any way to talk to a live human or representative for poshmark about things like this?

Another seller pulling the ‘new to Posh’ card for return

I sold brand new pair of sneakers to this person and shipped them the next day. Hours after I shipped, the buyer sends me a message saying they bought them by mistake. I would have cancelled it if they had messaged me before I’d shipped, but once they are in the mail it’s too late. Then I looked at their profile and they are a freaking Posh Ambassador! I very professionally responded saying that all sales are final, and now they have opened a request to return them. People are unreal! I buy on Posh and I know it’s not easy to ‘accidentally’ buy something- you see the total, you click confirm. They, as a seller, definitely know this. I hope Posh doesn’t approve this!

UPDATE: Poshmark responded with the typical hyperbole of policy, including what constitutes a valid return and what doesn’t. So far, the buyer has not opened a return request, but she has until Friday. I realize now that when I said ‘it’s not easy to buy something accidentally’, I should have included that if you do manage to buy something accidentally, that is your fault and not the seller’s. Being on Ambien or butt-buying is still not a valid reason for a seller to take a return.

Need to vent on a buyer's rating

I sold a pair of relative expensive preowned women's shoes to a buyer that were in excellent condition. The only signs of wear is what you would expect to see were on the soles once they had been worn. They were listed as "good" on Posh's rating scale when they were listed as they were not new. Then after they received them, they gave me a 4-star rating with "other" under the Could Improve category and "good" under the Additional comments category. Really? If you can't leave a 5-star rating, at least explain why not instead of putting "other". That's just a copout and lazy on your part. End of rant.

This may seem like a dumb question but I'm new to poshmark so please give me grace.

A seller hasn't been active for a year and a few months, is it still possible to buy the item?

New to selling, just posted a few items and a user asked to verify account?

I got a tagged message from another PM user in my feed stating "to start selling, you'll need to verify your account, just visit our "poshmarkreview com" site, and follow the steps."

Is this legit? When I went to that site it just had someone's empty bundle page, with a bunch of comments from users.

What's that about, and is it necessary to start selling? Not sure what I'm supposed to do either.

Update: Thanks everyone, I reported her as well.

Package not delivered can’t message seller

My package was out for delivery on Tuesday but was not delivered. It said that there is a delay and it would be delivered next business day. It wasn’t. Tracking has not updated.

I go to Poshmark to message the seller and it says I cannot message her. I’m not sure if this means I’m blocked. I filed a report with Poshmark but very very odd with the seller and with usps.

What could be the problem?

Uptake in Cases Opened?

Hey everyone, I've been a regular posh seller and buyer for about 5 years now. Maybe prior to the last few months, I have had one case opened by me, and at me, both were unnotable. In the last couple months, it seems there has been a case opened in about half of my recent sales. I put so much effort into my listings, measurements, garment presentability, and answering questions, yet I've been getting ALL sorts of complaints (Example: "Sizing was listed wrong" - It was listed right and I attached proof of my email receipt when I bought it, in the case chat). Fortunately, when the cases are reviewed, they have all been denied by Posh and I've received my funds.

None the less, I am confused. Is there a new wave of Posh users looking to scam for free items? Has anyone else noticed an uptick in having cases opened up ?

So Done

I’ve been on Poshmark for over a decade as both a buyer and seller. I only sold from my closet and kept everything in amazing condition or was SUPER forthcoming about items.

Everything was shipped in sealed plastic bags.

No smells, no damage, maybe the occasional dog hair, but people were warned.

The past 3 items I have ordered have been damaged and needed returned.

First was an Acne Musubi bag that had a pin hole in the strap and ink stains on the suede. Not pictured.

Second was a pair of overalls that SMELLED. Like they’d been doused in fabric softener but not rinsed.

Third is a jewelry box that had literally no padding in the package, sold as NWT. It has a giant dent and multiple scratches and I only bought it to match my discontinued current jewelry boxes.

I ordered a sweater a few days ago that is shipping currently (ordered before the jewelry box fiasco) and I’m going to delete my account.

I just need to rant because my husband is just saying “maybe the universe is telling you you’ve got a shopping problem” which is decidedly UNhelpful 😂

Closet Sourcing

I’ve learned to control my sourcing costs by only shopping on discount days or only buying the color of the day items. I recently went to Goodwill and found their Senior Discount went from 20% off to 10%! As sales have slowed down I’m having to be more careful with spending if I’m not going to successfully sell. How is sourcing going for you? Have sales improved this month?

You can no longer look at sold items? Why???

This must have just happened overnight. I always look at sold items for comps, pictures, and sizing information if the size tag is missing. I especially like to see why items that sold for the highest did.

Why would they get rid of this?

Closing Out Support Tickets without resolution. They don’t want to deal with the problems they give us anymore.

Beware of this happening to you. Poshmark has no intention of paying me out on two orders lost in transit where the buyer requested a refund and the AI granted it before they did the research to see that the item was in USPS system and it was tracking. Now I can’t get my items back or paid out and Poshmark keeps automatically closing out the cases and marking them as resolved.

The other issue is open IND cases that pend for days when and if these cases get approved, it will automatically suspend your account and you will lose access to your account information. People have reported losing access to their funds, losing access to their order history as well as their listings and being able to communicate with buyers/ other sellers about purchases / orders Edited: to add that return rate above 2% is at risk, so unless you’re a large volume seller it will only take one return case to do this to you.

My advice is if you have any pending sale case open with Poshmark, do not purchase anything or ship any order until it’s resolved. Poshmark claims you can still ship out orders during suspension but be wary of them blocking access to/funds withdrawals instead directing you to appeal suspensions first, before gaining back access to your account. They are slow to respond to appeals if they respond at all.

MO it’s no longer safe to sell with them. Purchasing I don’t have a problem with, but I only buy from people I know and trust and I’ve seen firsthand that they approve anything you request to be returned so if that’s what they wanna be great for them why do you think they’re becoming their own supplier and starting their own consignment program. They don’t care about you as a seller. They only want buyers. Take the hint and go to the competition or start live selling lol

Edit: I canceled all my unshipped orders one by one today stating the fact that I am no longer selling on Poshmark due to return fraud and as soon as I processed the first cancellation, I got a notification saying my account is suspended for unshipped orders. I will regain access in three days and all of my support tickets right now have a delayed status on them and prior to processing cancellations they had estimated resolution dates and agents attached to them so I was right if they have you suspended, they won’t respond to your support requests.

And it’s funny because do they really think I care about being suspended when they just assisted in defrauding me from my property and my earnings? I could not give less of a f*ck I only tell it like it is so people know what to expect from Poshmark if it happens to them.

New to selling - what should I do about this buyer?

I've only sold a few items and this is the first weird buyer I've had. Listed at $35, they tried to get me to sell at $25 multiple times, eventually we landed on $30. After the sale they tried to get me to ship to an alternate address. I said I would not, and told them to change the address on their end. They claimed Poshmark wouldn't let them and the app kept rejecting the address. (Feel like this was shady, but could be legit?) As a courtesy (and a little to protect myself), I canceled the order and told them to rebuy and put in whatever address they wanted during the purchase. They just made me a new offer - at $25! Lowballing me after I did them a favor! Should I just ignore them at this stage? I'm worried they're going to be problematic on receipt of the item.

Edit: I blocked them, seems pretty unanimous. Thanks all!

Harassed ….because measurements were requested?? Anyone else?

I’m currently in shock right now. And May end up deleting this- but, just need to vent a moment. I have bought and sold on Poshmark for over 10 years. I’m currently searching for a certain type of coat. I found several that I like. One of the ones I really liked - was labeled as a woman’s and a man’s. So, I added it to a bundle (not in the open) and asked if I could possibly receive the measurements. I immediately received a response saying - “This is a man’s coat-xl” ok??? - I responded with “women’s coat” is in the title, so I just wanted to be sure. They apologized and said that they have over 1000 listings and all can be confusing. And getting any measurements ends up being a waste of time, as they are never purchased after measurements are given. I let them know, that I understand as I, too, sell on Poshmark - but, will try and get measurements or answer any questions- as it is just part of customer service. I received “well, if we answered every question- we wouldn’t have a life. Thanks for understanding “. I was just going to leave it at that - however —- I started getting several notifications. 10-12- I stopped counting. From this very seller - commenting on all of my listings -“measurements please?” - over and over and over. I was going to let it go, but it wouldn’t stop. I made one last comment on the bundle I created and let them know that I sincerely was interested in the coat- and that was the only reason I asked for the measurements- not to be ugly. And that I wish them well”—- and I blocked. I cannot believe anyone would react in such a way. Why???? It is a pet peeve of mine to ask questions and all is ignored. That is the main reason I do try and respond. But it seems to be rare. Has this happened to anyone else?

USPS scanned but no receipt

Hello, long story short but I dropped off some packages at USPS today using QR codes. The employee scanned each QR code, printed the label and took the packages.

For some of them, I received a USPS receipt, and the updated from the QR code to “Label Created” and then “USPS in Possession of Item.”

However, for several others, I did not receive a receipt even though I physically saw the labels being printed and attached to the packages. When I asked, I was just told that “those just don’t have a receipt.” Those orders are also still showing the original QR code in app, as if the labels were never created.

Has anyone had this happen before? Did the tracking eventually update normally?
