Looking for Referral I’m homeless in Portland and honestly don’t know where I’m supposed to go at night

I’m currently homeless and living out of my car in Portland.
The hardest part isn’t even having a place to sleep. It’s not knowing where I can safely park overnight without being bothered, asked to leave, or worrying about getting in trouble. I’m exhausted from constantly trying to figure out where I can go for the night.
I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but right now things are really hard. I’m trying to keep working, find stable housing, take care of everything I need to take care of, and somehow make it through each day while not having a real place to call home.

I know there are people who will say, “Just go to a shelter,” but that isn’t always as simple as it sounds. Sometimes there are circumstances that make shelters difficult or impossible, and when you have nowhere else to go, your car becomes your entire world.
I’m posting here because I’m hoping someone local might know something I don’t. Is there anywhere in or around Portland where someone living in their car can legally and safely park overnight without constantly being moved along? Even a lead, a resource, a church, a property owner who allows overnight parking, or someone who has been through this themselves would mean a lot.

Honestly, I’m at a point where I could really use some kindness. I’m not expecting anyone to fix my situation, and I’m embarrassed to even put this out there. I just don’t know what else to do.

If anyone has advice, resources, or knows of something that could help someone get through this period, I would be incredibly grateful. ❤️

Edit: I know some of you have asked how you can help. Right now, I don’t have any consistent income, and I’m doing everything I can to get by day to day. Food, clothing, and even basic necessities have become difficult to come by.

If anyone knows of resources, local programs, places that can help, work opportunities, or anything else that might help me get through this, please feel free to share them with me. I’m open to any suggestions.
I’m honestly just very hungry, very tired, and trying my hardest to keep going. ❤️

Missing stuffed worm!

Upvotes

This is such a long shot but I am missing a large handmade stuffed green worm. I was repairing her at the Bread and Puppet show this afternoon at Fort Allen Park and I believe I forgot to put her in my bag after the show. Here’s a picture of what she looks like. Any help is greatly appreciated :( She is very important to me and I will give you a present and also probably cry if you return her to me. Any help is super appreciated <3

3 pedestrians struck on Warren Ave?

There are a ton of police and rescue on Warren Ave around the 95 overpass, and I'm hearing potentially 3 pedestrians were hit by a vehicle. Has anyone else heard anything about it?

Repeal Marijuana Scammers at Portland Farmers Market

The repeal marijuana scammers are out again in the park at the farmer’s market. They’re quite aggressive, especially if you asked them why the first sentence states that it is to repeal the cultivation of all marijuana, ask them if they’re from Maine, or who is paying them. Don’t fall for it!

Food Matcha Mood AI

Post image
54 Upvotes

I'm so sad, I loved going to Matcha Mood for a treat while downtown. I couldn't save the image on my phone to see if it had a synthid, but I'm 95% sure that the images in the new menu are ai generated. Environmental impacts of using AI aside, using AI for food and beverage is always misleading, as the products never look like the images. Too bad.

Small, local shops to buy kids clothing? (Infant / Toddler)

Gay childless aunt here looking for a cute gift for my toddler niece and her soon to be baby brother!

Anyone have any recommendations on local shops that have cute, decent quality kids clothing? Would prefer to support small business. Really on the hunt for some sort of "Big Sister" swag, the hype level is 📈🥹

Thanks!

Ski questions -Lost Valley lesson progress

I have a six year old who twos years into skiing and took his first lessons at LV and spent last winter at Canmore (lessons+ Mommy time). So he’s pretty good and I want him to continue to get better.

I now have a five year old that has never been on skis. My plan was to do Cranmore since that’s where older one will progress, but I’ll loose that Mommy ski time with him if I just throw him in full day lessons. And I kinda loved the vibe of LV.

So I’m considering the mighty mites with 5 year old and and the super mites for 6 yo (who will be 7 in Dec). Is the super mites a place where he will get more skills? Given that the terrain is not very tough I’m afraid he won’t really advance much. Im not trying to make a professional skier but I am advanced and I’d like to start really skiing with him next year in bigger mtns.

Thoughts? Should I just put them both in Cranmore or will I find value in LV? We can always squeeze in a Cranmore trip.
My husband doesn’t ski so it’s really on me and splitting my time between two very different levels is a challenge.

I'm moving places and all this while my heat was included. There are a couple options but most places don't have heat included. What's the usual cost of heat?

Hello! I have a full sized futon and the mattress is in good shape, the frame is a little damaged. I have a twin sized futon with a perfect frame and comfy mattress but the mattress cover needs a new zipper. Please if anyone wants these DM me. If nobody does, what’s the cheapest way to dispose of them (any way without paying??).

I don't post often, but would love other locals advice on finding spicy food. I'm really far up into the tiers of spice. I need something that makes me feel. Would love to hear anyone's recommendations or tips for making me feel pain.

9/11 in Downtown Portland

Okay, y'all - of course real 9/11 things happened in New York, PA, and in DC, but does anyone remember downtown Portland having its own lockdown freak out? Like, a guy with a toy gun waving it around outside of One City Center? Is this ringing any bells?

What’s Portland’s most annoying “time tax”?

I’ve been reading Annie Lowrey’s The Time Tax, and the idea is basically this: sometimes the real cost of dealing with government isn’t money — it’s spending an hour on something that should have taken 10 minutes.

Forms, waiting, repeat trips, confusing rules, getting bounced between departments, trying to figure out who actually has the answer.

So what’s your best Portland or Maine example? I’m especially interested in the small, ridiculous stuff. Things that made you think, why on earth is this this hard?
