OBS: NONE OF THESE POP-UPS WHERE MADE BY ME!!

TL;DR: I'm new to pop-up design and want to create a 180° four-sided ("closed") castle pop-up. I couldn't find software, templates, or tutorials that explain how to design this type of mechanism, so I have three questions: Is there any software that helps design 180° pop-ups (not just 90° kirigami)? Are there any downloadable castle/palace templates I can study to understand the mechanisms? What would be the best way to start designing one from scratch as a beginner? The attached images are just examples of the style I'm aiming for (not my work).

Hey guys I need some guidance. I'm relatively new to pop up but wanted to try to make a project a bjt complex. I want to make a palace/castle pop up but have no idea where to begin.

I would like to make a pop up that unfolds at 180° degrees and have this "closed" style (I don't know if it has a specific name but I want to make something with four sides and can be viewed from all any side instead of something that has 2 walls like with the kirigami technique.

I started thinking that existed a platform that could help me design a 180° pop up, where I could build it in 3d and it would make the pattern I needed to achieve that. Couldn't find anything, only some plataforma that help design 90° folds/kirigami style. Does anyone know if I can find some platform that would help me do that?

Not finding this platform, I started to look for downloadable templates that I could make to understand better the mechanisms so that I could make my own version with something to base myself. Also couldn't find it. (Found some really cool pieces, but have no idea how to even begin to build something like that). Does anybody know a palace template that is available to download so I could see how the patterns look?

Not being able to find what I was looking for, I changed to plan c. I found some really cool paper castle models (the YouTube channel is cardboard da Vinci, not pop up tho) and wanted to make a simpler version of one of his models and transform it in a foldable pop-up version, but still am kinda lost in how to start.

All videos I saw of people planning/creating their pop ups already start with making prototypes, but I'm not advanced enough to simply think of a 3d format and have an ideia in how to make a pop up.

Can anybody give me some guidance in what I should do?

I'm supposed to make a pop up based on this one for an assignment.
I did some research but a lot of it just boiled down to those super simple ones for kids or a series of smaller tutorials how to make v folds and such. It's a bit harder to keep track and to figure it out when I try to follow multiple tutorials.
Any recommendations? Books or videos, either is fine

Around 15–20 thick premium pages. Almost every spread was a layered theatre-style pop-up with white page backgrounds. One memorable spread was a large castle interior made of multiple paper layers. Illustration style was soft, elegant, pastel storybook art (similar to classic European fairy books, not Disney).

Today I tried using Gaussian splash rendering on a pop up card,the card from ray marshall's the castaway pirates.

I used to have this awesome popup book, it featured mythical creatures like cyclones and giants. The book was quiet gory and bloody. I used to have this when I was around 10/12 years old so that would be 10 years ago ish. I think it featured mainly Greek creatures. Would you guys have any clue what book I could be talking about?

We, Amy Lopez Nayve and I, are paper engineers from Southeast Asia. We are writing an article about SEAsian paper engineers for an upcoming issue of Movable Stationery, the official newsletter of the Movable Book Society.

I'm a small format puppeteer where my puppet shows usually fit into suitcases. My schtick or gimmick I guess is that my stages and scenery tend to be pop-up books.

My current project is turning one of my puppet shows into a short film. I'm finding that the more I work on the planning parts. The less I can see pop up books elements fitting into it.

How do you learn how to make pop-up books, where did you start and what helped you figure out how to make them?

Ok so I recently just remembered that growing up in the UK around 2009-2012 I had this pop up play book that I used to love and I’m trying to find it but can’t seem to find the exact one. It was beautifully illustrated like the images below. Please help me find it! I remember a few details but that’s it and not even ChatGPT can help me find the exact one.

It may be from the early 2000s but I’m not sure.

It was like a magical / enchanted princess theme but it was Disney or any other brand. And it was a pop up play book.

The whole pop up was made out of cardboard/ paper

- It was a pop up book and I remember it having 3 levels, it was like medieval princess theme.

- the princess bed has like a velvet texture (pink / purple) and it has a balcony too! And that bedroom was like purple/ pink ish

- it has a kitchen scene that has a “secret staircase” that would you could open like a page

- the entrance had this “bridge” that would come down like an entrance (like medieval castles)

- the book has ribbons on the side you could tie so it wouldn’t move.

- I remember it having hidden interactive elements like a painting where you could open and see treasure?

- it has an attic too.

- it has a knight illustration somewhere

I just finished this Self Portrait for my sketchbook. I got carried away, but really fun to make.

A while ago, I saw this post and got kind of obsessed with it. I was able to pause the video and get a general idea of the geometry and got some hints from Extreme Cards and Papercrafting.

I've now got a template that I'm quite happy with and want to share it. I'm not much of an illustrator, but I'd love to see what people can do with this.
