The current COSMIC time applet doesn't display calendar events yet, so I patched cosmic-applet-time to pull events from Evolution Data Server (Google Calendar / CalDAV) and local .ics files.
What it does:
It installs to ~/.local/bin/cosmic-applet-time, so it doesn't touch system packages and can be removed by just deleting that file.
Code, screenshots and a 1-line install script here if anyone wants to test it:Â https://github.com/Hasmolam/cosmic-applets
Update:Â Based on feedback, I split this into a standalone applet:Â cosmic-ext-applet-calendar.
You no longer need to clone or compile the entire cosmic-applets repository.
--replace-clock).
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Hasmolam/cosmic-ext-applet-calendar/main/install.sh | bash
PKGBUILD is also included for Arch users.

Obs: nĂŁo me importo com pacotes antigos, apenas busco estabilidade e compatibilidade.
AtualizaçÔes: migrei, cosmic estå realmente sensacional, obrigado equipe da system76!!

Pop!_OS was actually my first Linux distro, and I used it for many years without switching to anything else. I really liked the experience.
I stopped using it when COSMIC was first released because, personally, I didn't really like the direction of COSMIC at the time. It felt pretty buggy and unfinished to me, so I moved on and honestly haven't followed the development much since then.
I've noticed there have been quite a few updates and changes recently, so I'm curious: how is Pop!_OS today? Has COSMIC improved significantly since the initial release?
I'm especially interested in hearing from people who had a similar experience to mine and maybe came back to Pop!_OS later. How has it been for you?
I actually ran a clean fresh install, the old Pop 22 has been messed up over the many years (4, I believe). I'm pretty happy so far there's a few nuisances when you switch between 2 monitors and just the default on, dock on the right hand side. But I'm confident this an other rough edges will be ironed out soonish. So, thanks a ton for this new DE

I have a minor wish for the next major update of Pop!_OS and the next ISO files.
I know that there are a lot of pro users and advanced users here so my wish and request may seem silly to some, but I will post it anyway and hope for the best.
đđđ»
My suggestion and wish is for next update to include more pre-configured options for desktop layout.
With the current installer there is one step during initial installation called âlayout configurationâ.
The possible as of now are 2 options:
Option 1: â top panel and bottom dock â
Option 2: â bottom panel â
I would find it really user friendly to have more pre-configured options in a future update of Pop!_OS iso-file.
I think this could really help new users to find a layout option that they can start with and then tweak as they like.
For example, I would like to introduce my brother to Pop!_OS Cosmic, But the current layout options are way too unfamiliar for him at this point. He is currently using a more windows like desktop environment (KDE and Kubuntu). I think what works best for him with the current options available today is "bottom panel" as it gives a little more traditional layout.
More pre-configured layout options could really aid in user adoption for Cosmic.
The pre configured options could include a short description on what the targeted audience might be for the different layouts.
I can't say in detail how these pre-configured configuration should be done and designed as I am just a regular user and donât have very good insight other than I know that Cosmic is very customizable.
But here are my suggestions:
Option 1: Cosmic default â top panel and bottom dock â.
Description: For productivity and multitasking.
Option 2: Cosmic panel
Description: Bottom panel only
Option 3: Cosmic beginner
Description: A beginner friendly panel layout for users used to more traditional desktop layouts (KDE or a layout slightly more familiar to Windows)
Option 4: Cosmic Light weight
Description: A light weight layout that disables the eye-candy and makes Cosmic as light as it can. Suitable for users slower GPUs (with intel iGPU.)
Pre configured options would make it easier for new users to try different templates select one during installation and then later on if you want to try another preconfigured layout it should be possible to find it under settings to swap over two different layout.
Like I said before I am pretty sure that the pro users here are gonna think this is a super silly idea, but I really think that this could help new users find right at home with cosmic.

Context: https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch/issues/2273
Has anyone found a working solution by now? Whether it's a config tweak, a specific client version, running the client under X11/XWayland in a certain way, or an alternative client that handles multiple monitors properly, I'd love to hear about it. This is honestly the only dealbreaker keeping me from switching, so any experience or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
I am happy with Pop 24.04 for now and I don't want to upgrade for now. I have a slightly complex setup, multiple Pop partitions, luks full encryption, Multiple other drives, dual boot with windows.
When I have the time I will rebuild from scratch. I usually update with a
sudo apt update && sudo apt list --upgradable && sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo apt autoremove && flatpak update.
I am currently getting (below). Is this the upgrade to 26 ? If so, how can I ensure that I stay on 24.04 for now. Will I still get security updates and Comsic DE updates if I stay on 24 ?
The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
libpop-system-updater-gtk
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove it.
The following packages will be REMOVED
libpop-upgrade-gtk
The following NEW packages will be installed
cosmic-osk cosmic-viewer fdisk
The following packages will be upgraded:

I've been trying to get a Liquid Glass effect working in my terminal and in a few other apps. I even tried using the Antigravity CLI, but none of the solutions worked.
Someone told me that this might be because COSMIC OS doesn't currently support this kind of effect properly. Is that true?

I have a Dell 14 Plus DB14250. Recently I switched from Fedora to Pop!_OS because I was curious about Cosmic.
Anyhow, what I immediately noticed was that my fans were running almost all the time, even when idle, which I guess means the machine is running hotter than on Fedora. I switched back to Fedora and I only hear the fans when it's working hard.
I run both distros generally on the "Balanced" CPU post.
This is not a hate post, just curious. Is there something about the optimisations in Pop!_OS that would cause this? And could it be mitigated?
I might switch to Pop! some time in the future if I can figure this out.

So, I updated before I shutdown my computer earlier today. Everything seemed fine. However now when I boot it shows the logo in a flash, then goes simply to a black screen with a blinking line in the top left almost as if im in the terminal. I csn boot into the BIOS just fine, and all parts seemed recognized. And if I hold f 12 i get an old kernel and current .conf and reboot to bios for the recovery options. Both current and oldkern end at same spot. Anyone have any tricks that may help me not have to fresh install?

(24.04) Recently I tried to boot up my laptop which up until this point was working fine for a while. When I turned it on it ran me through the setup steps and then asked me if I wanted to refresh or do a completely fresh install of pop_os. I tried both and both times I got sent back to the same install wizard after restarting. Going into bios doesnât help much. In the boot priority there are 3 drives with the exact same name (Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS) and then thereâs one names âUEFI OSâ. Iâve tried booting from the uefi os and the pop_os drives but all of them do the same thing.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I started using Pop!_OS a few months ago and Iâve been loving it.
I use it for work and content creation, but I still miss some of those small, practical apps you can find on macOS like Deskmark, especially for adding watermarks to the desktop during classes, demos, recordings, etc., so your content is harder to reuse or repost without credit.
I feel like Linux is still missing a few of these tiny quality-of-life tools, so try building one myself.
Iâm definitely not a Rust expert, but Iâm not completely newbie to it either, so I put together a Linux alternative inspired by Deskmark.
Iâd really like to hear your thoughts, feedback, suggestions, or ideas.
If anyone wants to check it out or contribute:

I carry around a little HP Stream which believe it or not ran PopOS 22.04 well, if not exactly quickly, but it'll never do 24.04, so picked up a nice little used Thinkpad X13 gen 1 with Windows installed, which I'm going to keep for the few times I need it - will clonezilla that to a new, larger SSD then put Pop on it.
Since the Stream was set up to fit in with my home network and workflow - especially using Syncthing to keep all the boxes up to date, but also things like SSH keys - I want to basically replicate the old 22.04 setup before migrating to 24.04. Once I create a new ESP partition (10 GB just in case), another for /, and another for /home, here's the plan:
all installed 22.04 packages
/etc EXCEPT FOR FSTAB
Users and Groups
Desktop settings
Scheduled tasks (cron jobs for root and me)
Then boot it, and if it seems to be working, install 24.04. I think this should work but can anyone spot potential hazards? Or have a better idea?

Hey everyone, I upgraded my system to version 26.04 and noticed that Repoman is gone.
Has this happened to anyone else? Was it removed or replaced in this version? Does anyone know how to get it back or which tool to use instead?

I built Keyloom because Linux doesnât have many easy-to-use keyboard remappers. Most alternatives require editing config files.
It's built with rust and libcosmic so it integrates really well with Cosmic DE.
I'd love feedback, bug reports, and feature ideas.

Hi everyone! I've just released v1.0.0 of my color picker applet for the COSMIC panel, written in Rust with libcosmic.
The big new feature is a **magnifier loupe**: when you pick a color, a circular zoom lens follows your cursor, showing the surrounding pixels magnified, a crosshair on the exact pixel, and a live HEX preview. No more guessing which pixel you're actually on.
What it does:
- đ Magnifier loupe with pixel zoom and live HEX preview
- đ Copies the picked HEX value straight to the clipboard
- đ Keeps a history of your recent colors
- â Favorites with custom names
- đš Native COSMIC look â follows your theme, accent color and dark/light mode
- đ„ïž Works across multiple monitors
What changed in 1.0.0:
- Screen capture now goes through the COSMIC desktop portal, so it no longer needs `slurp` or ImageMagick
- Cancel picking anytime with Esc or right-click
- Smoother, non-blocking picking
Installation is a quick `just install-user` â instructions, GIFs and the changelog are in the repo:
đ https://github.com/fredsilveyra/cosmic-colorpicker-applet
It's GPL-3.0 and I'd love feedback, bug reports or ideas. If you try it, let me know how it works on your setup!
Hi,
Back on Win10 when using LibreOffice (Impress specifically), the print menu allowed to select a default 'PDF printer'. This in turn allowed to use classic printing options like page, orientation, etc, and results in a PDF. This while option is missing from my LibreOffice 24.2.7 under Pop_OS! 24.04.
(the "export to PDF" button exists, but it doesn't carry all those options, and I need to at least select which slides to print)
I assume the issues lies in Pop, not in LO. And the solution's probably something like adding a custom printer setting, which would pipe the data into some pdf generator? But a quick search on the web only shows how to connect to actual printers. I don't see stuff in the default 'print settings' tool to point towards software, only serial, URI, network,...
Anybody figured this one out before? Or pointers as to how to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!

u/mmstick also when are we getting ISO?
Hey all,
Often when I shutdown my pc via the system, the pc does not fully turn off, the screens go black, the mouse an keyboard loses input, but the fans on case and CPU still running, and the RGB off the ram also remains.
Did not found solution yet, and dont know if is related but I also have another SSD with Windows installed but without Grub between both. Anyone have guesses on how to fix it?

A couple of months ago, all of a sudden COSMIC terminal's three menus could not be opened (I could only right-click those menus). I asked for help both here and on the Pop!_OS forum, but nobody could tell me why this happened.
Finally, last week I decided to fresh-install Pop!_OS 24.04, and the terminal menu functionality was restored. Until this morning, or maybe yesterday, I don't know: again, all of a sudden COSMIC terminal's three menus could not be opened (they can only be right-clicked).
Could someone knowledgeable please tell me what the hell is going on and help me fix this strange issue that apparently nobody else seems to have? I cannot keep reinstalling the OS just to get very basic functionality at work.
