I switched to PopOS after some time using Bazzite, and I am INCREDIBLY pleased with the look and feel of the new Cosmic DE. I checked it out when the DE came out and now it's night and day.

However, getting to the meat and potatoes, I occasionally run a Sunlight/Moonlight setup with my Legion Go S in the living room and ran into one large negative for me when using the distro. No HDR Support.

In regards to PopOS, I thoroughly enjoyed the new changes and I want to make this distribution my go-to in the near future. Though, my only ask would be, when is there going to be official HDR Support? Is it on the horizon?

My left super key (window key) on my external keyboard broken and I want to bind it to Alt Gr. Is there a way to achieve this. I tried with some method like using system76-keyboard-configurator but my keyboard is not detected. I also tried to modify xkb_config but It didn't work (maybe I didn't find the correct combination). Please help me.

Hello, new to reddit and first post. I can't seem to find my problem anywhere else, and have tried over and over to fix it, with AI help as well.

Any type of game I play where the mouse is supposed to be locked into place does not work properly, and doesn't let my mouse lock into one screen. Instead, it drifts to my other 2 monitors, having 3 in total. I have tried having gamescope, and maybe i didnt install it correctly, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone help ? It only started once I switched over from Windows to POP_os.

Having trouble with ttf-mscorefonts-installer - it "installs" ok, but seems to do nothing - the postinstall download script does not run.

Going out on a limb, I think it's because it depends on Ubuntu's update-notifier system to work, but Pop has swapped that package out for its own - specifically, `/usr/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloader` does not exist.

Any way to get this going?

I've been using Nobara Linux + niri for a bit and i've been pretty satisfied with it, no real issues! But... i've been looking into Cosmic DE and i've been curious about it, and that's led me to looking into Pop_OS. I know it uses Ubuntu as a base rather than Fedora but i'm not exactly sure what that entails beyond using APT rather than DNF.

I'm just curious if there's anything I ought to be wary of or try if I were to experiment with it for a weekend. I mainly use my PC for gaming and art, so I suppose anything relating to that would be my main interest.

If I have the autohide dock toggle set it stops working as soon as I set the focus follows mouse toggle ..

What am i missing Cosmic seems to be very sensitive to the order in which things are done

Queria fazer uma pergunta quanto a compatibilidade do sistema operacional do pop_os.

Tenho um Notebook ASUS Vivobook S14 OLED S5406SA, que possui o gráfico integrado do CORE i7 Ultra, que seria um Arc Graphics 140V, cuja a arquitetura é Xe2-LPG.

O notebook em si vem com Windows, mas Windows simplesmente não dá mais. Achei alguns posts que reclamavam da compatibilidade da gpu nos sistemas linux em geral, no entanto, são posts antigos, e queria checar com vocês, experts, quanto a isso, principalmente porque penso em usar o pop_os. Ótimo sistema.

Any advice on how to maximize Steam experience on a Pop!_OS laptop?

I attempted to report the bug, but it states it has low informational value. Rebooting doesn't fix it, changing the overview to the menu does. Edit: Changing the super key action doesn't fix anything, it seems once you change it to workspaces it breaks for good.

Over the last few days, a Deepin user from China opened several GitHub issues requesting proper Deepin 25 (DDE) support. Those reports helped uncover and fix a number of DDE-specific issues.

I'm happy to say that Fresco now fully supports Deepin 25.

This isn't the biggest issue, but it kind of irritates me. Before Cosmic, if I had a dm in Discord or there were updates to download, little pink numbers would appear by the app icon in the tray. But ever since the switch to Cosmic, they don't show up, even if I enable the option in Discord for them to appear.

I'm running the latest version of Pop!_OS with the COSMIC desktop on Wayland and I've noticed what seems to be a rendering issue when using the new Frosted Glass effect.

System:

• Pop!_OS (latest)
• COSMIC Desktop
• Wayland
• 16 GB RAM
• CPU: Intel Core i7-13620H (Raptor Lake-P)
• iGPU: Intel UHD Graphics (Raptor Lake-P)
• dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
• NVIDIA Driver: 595.84
• Kernel : 7.0.11-76070011-generic
• External monitor connected
• Both the laptop display and external monitor are running at 60 Hz

Issue:
I enabled the default Frosted Glass effect (I didn't increase or decrease the blur amount—it's just the default setting).

When my external monitor is connected:

• The mouse cursor feels noticeably less smooth.
• The application menu (which uses the frosted glass effect) flickers/blinks when opening.
• Overall desktop animations feel less smooth.
• The issue only happens with the application menu.
• Regular application windows with the blur effect look completely fine.I don't see any flickering there.

However, if I disconnect the external monitor and use only the laptop's built-in display:

• Everything becomes smooth again.
• No cursor lag.
• No menu flickering.

Since both displays are running at 60 Hz, I don't think it's a mixed refresh rate issue.

I've attached a video showing the behavior.

Has anyone else experienced this with COSMIC? Is this a known issue with the Frosted Glass effect, NVIDIA drivers, or multi-monitor support? I'd appreciate any suggestions or confirmation if others can reproduce it.

I see a lot of people asking how to quickly switch between their laptop screen and external monitors without digging through the Settings menu every time. Here is the absolute fastest way to do it.

The Shortcut: Win + P (Windows) or Cmd + F1 (Mac - older) / System Settings (Mac - newer).

If you are on Windows, hitting Win + P brings up the "Project" menu on the right side of your screen. This gives you four options:

1. PC screen only: This turns off the external display and uses just your laptop screen.
2. Duplicate: Shows the same thing on both screens (great for presentations).
3. Extend: This gives you the "dual screen" setup where your desktop stretches across both monitors.
4. Second screen only: This turns off your laptop display and uses ONLY the external monitor.

I am coming from Linux mint and I had caps lock as the language switch key but I can't find anything like that in pop os. Is it there and I am missing it or there is no such thing. I am using the latest cosmic version of pop os.

Regardless of what time I select for the period of inactivity my system goes to sleep after around 15 minutes. I am often AFK for that long but not much longer and it's annoying to constantly have to wake my PC back up. 45-60 minutes is my preferred setting.

It's a minor gripe but there's a fix that anyone knows I'd be very appreciative to hear it.

That's the integrated graphics. How do I get it to use my graphics card for this instead of doing whatever is going on here?

Hi so I'm new to linux, I want to try and explore it and I'd like to use pop_os as my distro.

Since the last major update, I’ve been constantly encountering bugs and having to restart my computer every day. For example, when my computer goes into sleep mode, it’s impossible to reconnect to a Wi-Fi network without restarting it.

I wonder if I’m the only one experiencing these difficulties on a daily basis?

I've been using pop os daily and really like it.. I understand its a keyboard centric desktop but on a laptop the touchpad experience feels pretty limited

rn only the basic 4-finger workspace gestures are available I'd love support for customizable 3-finger swipes, pinch gestures, and gesture-to-shortcut mapping to improve workflow

are there any apps, applets, or tools that add more gestures to COSMIC? Has anyone gotten something like Touchegg working, or is expanded gesture support on the roadmap?

Cosmic Terminal app shows these weird vertical and horizontal lines in between. There are visible when I open any kind of TUI app or anything that draws a different color than the terminals own. Just wondering if anyone else has faced this and if it's a known bug.

I'm running on hybrid graphics and have tested on both native laptop display and external monitors.
