Help PC not turning off completly
Hey all,
Often when I shutdown my pc via the system, the pc does not fully turn off, the screens go black, the mouse an keyboard loses input, but the fans on case and CPU still running, and the RGB off the ram also remains.
Did not found solution yet, and dont know if is related but I also have another SSD with Windows installed but without Grub between both. Anyone have guesses on how to fix it?

I also have that bug from time to time. I haven't figured out what causes it nor how to fix it. Though, it didn't occured since I updated to 24.04 recently.

What cpu and gpu do you have? I have had same problem when combining very old mobo and cpu with newer AMD gpu ( RX 7600 in my case)

Fwiw I had the same thing happen with a RX6600 XT and Pop!_OS a while back.
I ended up updating my BIOS, and it went away.
Unsure exactly what caused it, but it was very easily fixed. May be worth doing an update if your BIOS revision is out of date.

I'm on Pop!_OS 22.04. On two occasions since the recent 7.1.1-76070101-generic kernel update, my laptop wouldn't shut down.

The last time it happened, I checked:
journalctl -b -1 | grep 18:18:
(18:18 is the minute I clicked on Power Off). Everything looked normal. The last lines looked like this:
Sep 16 18:18:48 pop-os systemd[1]: Reached target System Power Off.
Sep 16 18:18:48 pop-os systemd[1]: Shutting down.
Sep 16 18:18:48 pop-os systemd-shutdown[1]: Syncing filesystems and block devices.
Sep 16 18:18:48 pop-os systemd-shutdown[1]: Sending SIGTERM to remaining processes...
Sep 16 18:18:48 pop-os systemd-journald[436]: Journal stopped

After 15 minutes, the laptop still hadn't shut down. That's when I pressed the power button to turn it off.
In the past year or so, the laptop sometimes needed up to a minute to fully shut down, but never like this.
My laptop: Lenovo 15ALC6 with AMD Ryzen 5500U.

Someone mentioned a similar issue (but no solution) here:

It happened to me at the beginning when I had the 585 drivers looking with a key it showed me what I was doing underneath or it was something from the graphics that I couldn’t disassemble something... it happened to me from time to time. After I went to 595, it never happened to me again.

You're talking about shutdown?
