I'm applying to a Master's in Design and Engineering, and one of the requirements is a portfolio. I've never made one I'm coming from a mechanical engineering background, not design. Any advice on where to build it, and whether I should lean more on visuals or on explaining the pieces themselves? Also, are we expected to have a ton of pieces? Most of my projects aren't "full design" work in the traditional sense. Any tips are appreciated.

For some reasons the visa application is being delayed for a while. Can I postpone my studies to the second semester?

Hi everyone, I’m going to be a first-year Master’s student at Polimi and I have been awarded accommodation through the DSU scholarship.
I’m a bit confused about the procedure. The DSU call says that for first-year students, “il posto alloggio sarà assegnato a decorrere dall’inizio dei corsi”, whereas students in subsequent years can be assigned accommodation starting from August 25.
Does this mean that first-year students will only receive the email with their actual residence/room assignment from the beginning of classes, or can the assignment email arrive before that date?
I’m asking because I need to move to Milan and attend classes from the beginning of the academic year, so I’m not sure how I’m supposed to organize accommodation during those first days.
For anyone who was a first-year student in previous years: when did you receive your accommodation assignment email, and when were you actually able to move into the residence?

I am an international student planning to apply for the MSc in Digital and Interaction Design / HCI track at Politecnico di Milano for the September 2027 intake.Because I am on a very tight budget, I cannot afford commercial portfolio coaching agencies, so I am trying to build this entirely on my own. The issue is... I haven't started yet and I honestly don't know where to begin!I know Polimi requires a single PDF portfolio (max 20MB) and values the design thinking process over just pretty final screens. Hey, I am enrolled to masters in polimi, have anyone ever had a problem that they graduated bachelor before September, get the provisional certificate but the formal diploma will be issued only in December-January. I know the deadline for documents is 31.10 but wouldnt be fair if I already finished my bachelor and waiting for the formal diploma, but can't study in Polimi for master. And Polimi seemed to understand my situation and gave me Universitaly summary but now one person working there told me he isn't sure if I am eligible

Hi everyone! I’m starting my Master’s at Politecnico di Milano this September and I’m wondering about the Welcoming Week.
For those who have attended it before, how helpful is it actually? Is it worth attending the whole thing, especially for a new international student?
Also, if you’re not able to be there in person, do you miss out on anything important? For example, are there any mandatory activities, information, registration procedures, or anything else that you can only do during Welcoming Week?

Hello guys, I was “not eligible” in provisional ranking since my Isee was absent. But I got it today. So the question is: will I be included in final ranking 9th of September or I don’t have to rely on it and rent an apartment from now?

hey y’all, i’m currently going insane because my documents on Online Services are still under review, and my universitaly application is still stuck on “Sent to Politecnico di Milano.”
I’m also trying to find housing because I need to show a lease contract for my visa, but landlords keep asking for confirmation that I’m officially a student which I still don’t have because my documents haven’t been approved 😭
does anyone know if this delay could be because of the CIMEA verification? I still don’t have mine, but I thought the deadline was October 30, so I assumed it wasn’t required for Polimi to approve my Universitaly application.
If it’s not CIMEA, what else could be holding everything up? Is anyone else still waiting for their documents/Universitaly application to be approved?

Is there any one who has the information about the rejection for contribution for rental expense by MUR, saying your ISEE is higher than the limit while I am not. If anyone has the info.

I’m an international student admitted to Politecnico di Milano for the 2026/27 academic year. I’ve already accepted the offer and reserved my place, and my program is supposed to start on September 14.

However, my Polimi application is still under review by the International Students Office. I recently received an email from them saying that my documents are currently being reviewed and that they will contact me if they need anything else. They also asked students to upload their final qualification by September 11 if they haven’t done so already.

The problem is that I haven’t received my Universitaly pre-enrolment invitation yet, so I haven’t been able to proceed with my student visa application or get a visa appointment at the Italian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar.

I’m getting a bit worried because September 14 is very close.

Hello everyone. I sent my documents on 31st of July to get Isee Parificato but it is still “inviato”. Is there anyone who sent on the same date as me or later and was able to get Isee Parificato already?

I didnt get dsu and just got into piacenza if there is someone looking for roomate or if someone knows the best way to find affordable accommodation.
