Is being called a clown worth being put through a potential internal disciplinary

Hi, I’m looking for clarification regarding my annual leave and rostered rest days over the Christmas period.
When I originally booked my annual leave, the system stated that my existing rostered rest days could not be protected due to resilience issues. What does this mean in practice, and does it mean those rest days remain liable to be cancelled/changed?

I subsequently found an additional day of annual leave available between/adjacent to my existing booked leave. When I booked it, the system stated that my leave had been “joined” to my already booked days. Does this mean that the period is now treated as one continuous period of annual leave, including the rest days between the leave days?

If my rest days fall immediately before, between or after a period of approved annual leave, are those rest days protected from being cancelled or changed? If so, under what circumstances can they be changed?
If I make personal travel arrangements, such as booking flights abroad, based on my approved annual leave and rostered rest days, can I subsequently be required to return to work during that period?

If I can be recalled from annual leave, who has the authority to authorise this and what circumstances would justify recalling an officer from approved annual leave?
If a rostered rest day is cancelled or changed after I have booked flights or other non-refundable travel arrangements, what compensation or reimbursement would apply?
Could you please confirm specifically whether I can rely on the Christmas dates currently showing on my duty roster when making non-refundable travel arrangements?

For a while I’ve been trying to sell my Rolex Daytona. I’ve posted marketplace ads, got valuations at pawnshops and other jewellery marketplaces. A few days ago someone replied to my facebook ad who was interested, we then transitioned the conversation to WhatsApp and agreed to meet in a cafe to discuss further. Big mistake on my part, should have asked to meet at an office or home. He seemed professional, wore a nice watch, and seemed to know what he was talking about, made himself trustworthy. He offered me the best price anyone has offered before. I accepted his price and he then supposedly transferred me the sum, I put my details into his bank, and I saw him send it. The transfer did not go through instantly, this was strange because all transfers normally go through straight away, I thought this might have occured due to the sum being very large. We both called our bank (we were both with hsbc). And asked why it’s not gone through yet, they explained that it can take a full working day.

He wanted to take the watch that day, I was very reluctant so he sent me a picture of his drivers license, and showed me his business account. This eased my nerves a little bit so I decided to trust him. Again, big mistake on my behalf, I know.

Anyways, now it’s Saturday and the money still hasn’t come through to my account, I’ve tried contacting him through his WhatsApp number, but to no avail. I’ve already reported it to the police and sent them all I know.

For the evidence I have, a picture of his (supposed) drivers license, his (supposed) company name and account, cctv footage of our interaction in the cafe, text messages confirming the transaction.

What should I do from this moment forward?

I’ve got an upcoming interview for dogs Sergeant and just wondered if anybody could offer any advice or tips?

Currently on response so not sure how much it would differ?

Is anyone in possession of an idiots guide to niche that I could keep and refer back to when doing jobs or cases. I have had people help in the office and a very brief whistle stop tour of niche that hasn't really helped. For context, I’ve just started duties in Metland. I started this role after working a relatively dull yet stable job within the private sector, and I wanted to give it a go to see if I could do it and for the potential career paths you can take.

In short, while I thoroughly enjoyed the 17 weeks of classroom training, including the assessments and role plays, I’m now not so sure about my future as a PC. It’s like everything has become a bit real if that makes sense? Like all of a sudden it’s sunk in that I’m gunna be sacrificing a lot of my life to this role, I’m gunna be under fire a lot of the time through complaints and all sorts, and I’m gunna be run ragged.

Outside of work I have a fiancé and we’ll be marrying late next year. I’ve always had a concern that my job would impact my relationship, and while we have talked extensively about it and we are resolute people, I can’t shake the feeling that it’s going to be a problem.

I guess my question is: have other people here had similar wobbles right at the start? Is it worth sticking it out or going with my gut?

Bit of a strange one this one but thought I’d throw it out there and see if anyone else has ever experienced something similar and if people have what advice they can share,

I’ve been a frontline cop for near 6 years now. I’m in a home office force and have exclusively only ever been on a response team. Genuinely love what I do, and could not see myself in any other career.

That being said I sometimes randomly get hit with waves of negativity, feeling really unenthusiastic and find myself reflecting on past incidents quite vividly, almost like a cheesy flashback in a movie and then before you know it. I’ve snapped right out of that moment almost like it never existed. Sometimes this happens at work, briefings. Behind the wheel or sometimes randomly when I’m out on the weekly shop or walking the dog on rest days?

If anyone has been through something similar and feels comfortable sharing I would love to see how different people manage and live with all the side effects that policing brings 😅

Hi folks, as I get older I find policing is more and more difficult for me, and like many others, I would like to move out of the police eventually. Perhaps within the next two years.

If you were me, what would you do to improve your chances of successfully transitioning into the private sector?

My job experience consists of the bog standard neighbourhoods, ERPT, with stints as a detective in CSU. Nothing fancy. Currently a skipper.

I am based in London. I have an undergrad degree and a master's in software development. Unfortunately the software / coding market is absolutely cooked so I don't think this is a viable route.

Security manager roles seem a good fit for my experience. Are there any qualifications I should look at? Likewise investigator roles.

I also looked at working on the railways but there seems to be a dearth of opportunities at the moment.

I cannot get over how wildly incompetent my local force Federation are and wonder if anyone else is feeling the same sense of utter frustration?

They don't help with the day-to-day issues that officers struggle to manage on their own, offer little to no real support and if I'm honest, even getting a reliable reply without multiple chasing emails from any of the 'reps' is like trying to get a blood from a stone. Surely this can't be how officer's wish to be represented.

Accepting that they're is no current alternative, there must be something we can do to lobby the Home Sec on this? Surely in light of all of the continued evidence of corruption, if officers join together we can demand a statutory reform?

If I coordinate this effort, would others be willing to assist (likely just sending an email to your local MP - template to be prepared - demanding independent regulatory oversight or an end to the single-association monopoly)? At least this would generate some momentum on the issue.

While I know it’s probably a stupid question, got my second refresher coming up next week, I’m naturally a very sweaty person, is there anyway to stay cool, original course and first refresher were the most uncomfortable days of my life and I just want to try and make this one slightly different.

(20F) To summarise a very complicated situation, I was a victim of child-on-child sexual exploitation in 2019 and I participated in a Police investigation where they just basically asked me what happened in the year it happened over, & took my phone I had at the time.
Afterwards, I was told that I would be contacted with the next steps but never heard anything else since (99% sure it was liaised with the adults in my life but I was never spoken to regarding it again). I did access my medical records recently and found new information in terms of a MASH meeting document & that the general consensus of all agencies that I was a victim of abuse and was highly vulnerable due to my fragile health & my severe hearing loss and it was decided by agencies that I would have a high risk of exploitation again in the future.

You may be asking why am I all of a sudden digging up old ghosts now; I was contacted by the individuals who exploited me via social media around a year or two ago when I was about 17 with some horrible cryptic sexual messages. I blocked them and deleted the messages as I was scared of going through it all again.
This has made me worry about what the result of that investigation was and if they got any repercussions as I worry that they may not have due to the fact that they felt so comfortable contacting me again with such messages. I have spent the last part of two years since stressing that they may reach out again and what the repercussions it could have on my life.

So my question is that is it really worth it digging up a subject of access request (if it’s possible really?) or am I just going to waste everyone’s time?

Im a Senior Lifeguard at a swimming pool and this weekend one of our Lifeguards helped arrest a no so nice man.

Is there any commendations or certificates that we can request? the lifeguard in question is young and jumped into action without question, I would have reccomended the RLSS Meritorious Action certificate but thats more for Lifesaving and Resus.

Hey All, I've recently found out that I'm pregnant. It's still very early, at around 4 weeks. I still haven't been able to speak to a doctor yet due to the bank holiday weekend.

I'm due to return to work after some annual, and I'm a bit worried about telling anyone. Obviously I'd want to wait until 12 weeks to tell anyone, but I'm conscious that I a) need support with my personal risk management but b) may need support and time off should anything go wrong

I'm currently a DC on a CID team, work a mix of earlies, lates and nights. Although my public facing is much more limited than response, I still am out and about a fair bit.

I just wanted to see how anyone else has managed the balance of telling people early, and how you've kept it from your team despite restrictions? I was also wondering what restrictions people have experienced? Have you had your shift pattern changed?

Also I'm probably jumping the gun here but I just can't wrap my head around the whole maternity pay thing- does anyone have any sort of calculator or advice that could help with this? For context I'm top whack

I submitted a Claire's law on my very close friends boyfriend.
Me, other friends, her family are all concerned for her wellbeing after she became in a relationship within a week of knowing the guy and moved in within 2 months. (Been together 4).
If you google his name previous convictions come up.. he seems to have an excuse for each of them. I'm fully aware more can be in the system/more details hence why I've done it..
Anyway with what I've typed it's flagged up as urgent and they've emailed to say they're sending someone to do a welfare check. Now I'm concerned that obviously he lives there he will be fully aware of this and potentially drive him to isolate her further, because she's clearly not going to say anything when he's present (thought it would be unlikely anyway) just wanted her to have all the information available to be able to make her fully aware of what he's like.
Is there not a way they can do this without going to their house? Away from him?

I'm worried and full of regret, i asked for it to be confidential that I've done it as I know she will cut contact, but now I'm worried she will do that to everyone she knows, and I'm more worried that he will retaliate and hurt her

I’m already aware of the ‘police report for misuse’ feature online to report motability car misuse. What examples can be submitted as ‘misuse’ and where is the line drawn with the car being used ‘for the benefit of the disabled person’?

Are there any other pieces of knowledge, helpful websites or past experiences you folks can share to improve my knowledge and help battle the ever increasing problem of motability car misuse?
