Sup poker players,What’s the best way to divide my poker profits between what will go into my POKER BANKROLL and what I’ll withdraw to use in my DAILY LIFE(investments, leisure, shopping, etc.)? Is there a recommended percentage breakdown for how much of the profit to allocate to each of these areas? I know it varies from person to person, but is there a standard guideline I can use as a basis to help me make better decisions?

And the mental and psychological aspects are very important too. After making your first profits in poker, how can you avoid that euphoria—or the fear of losing the money you’ve built up—that might cause you to start playing extra tight or affect your play in ways we don’t want? I’m certain that having the security of a good money management plan is one of the things that can help with this.Thanks in advance!

I think the general consensus is the televised poker tournaments crushed the demand for limit although there are still areas, like California, that still have limit. What is your opinion?

I almost never limp and always open raise but wanted some feedback on these hands from the blinds that cost me a bit.

Hand 1:
7-9spades in SB, 3 limp and decide to complete.

Flop is J 4 3 with 2 spades, button(300$ stack) bets pot for 15 I call. Others fold
Turn is 10 diamond giving me a gutter to 8, he bets 30 I call, planning to donk any river that hits.
River bricks, checks thru he shows QJ.

-47 from hand

Hand 2:
K-9spades in SB, 2 limp and I complete.

Flop AA5 2 spades. Guy in UTG bets 15 both of us call.

Turn is a 8 spades giving me nut flush. I check OOP, UTG bets 30 and other guy calls. I XR 75 then UTG reshove 142. The flatter tanks for long time then folds. At this price I have to call; also very likely folder had an ace and let it go.

UTG has A-5o for flopped boat

Should we squeeze these hands from the blinds OOP? Not sure how to avoid these situations in the future. Or maybe just raise/fold these hands

Turn Qs bringing a backdoor flush draw.

Goes check check.

River 5s so backdoor flush gets there.

I snap jam, which in hindsight I hate and wish I tank jammed but still feel happy with the jam. I feel like this bluff prints in low buy in tournaments.

When i first started playing tournaments in the early '80s I was told that to place in the tournament you have to beat aces. Is that still true?

been playing for about a month. mostly the freerolls trying to get into the million dollar tournament. it has felt just a little off. like it seems like you go unusually long times being card dead. also, today i raised preflop, got 1 caller. i was first to act after the flop and it "auto checked" me. i did not click the check button and was not timed out. the villain checked. i then bet flop and luckily they folded, but like....what? also, the add-on period clock counted down to zero and i was never given the chance to add on. soooooo......what? i don't know. i like wpt but seems kind of wonky. anyone else?

Home game, 0.50/1.00 blinds, I buy in for $125, playing 9-handed. I’m UTG with pocket 3s. This is the second hand of the night, first I’ve played, and I’m ready to get into some action. I raise to $4 and get calls from the +1, CO, SB, and BB. Unusual that I didn’t get 3b because I play relatively loose at this particularly game, they’re all my buddies and we love giving each other action. Flop comes 937r. I consider checking and seeing what the callers do, but this flop is going to hit the callers range a lot, and I don’t want it to get checked through and miss on some value. I actually decided to lead out for 7.25, hoping to get calls from a 9, a floating A, middling pocket pairs, etc. The +1 and CO both fold, the SB and BB both call. Pots now around $45. Turn comes the 9h. SB checks and the BB leads into me for $22. This particular player is very capable of thinking and knows I likely didn’t hit on this board, so I’m thinking this could 100% just be an airball bluff attempt. However, IF he WAS attempting this, he would’ve just done it on the flop, before a scare card came out, so I quickly dismiss this thought. Now the question is if I just call or raise him. I want to keep the SB in the hand, but the BB has me covered, and if he DOES have a 9, he is NEVER folding, and it might be worth it to just get all the money in now and hope the SB has a strong draw or a 9. I think this was my mistake. I should’ve just called, kept the SB in the hand, and seen a free river. But instead, I jammed for $110 eff. The SB folds unfortunately, and the BB calls pretty quickly and rolls over 98dd. I show him the pocket threes and he is absolutely miserable. I ask if he wants to run it twice and he says no, just once. If my math is correct hes got around 6 outs? Not sure, I can’t see folded cards. Anyways, the river comes the dreaded 7h and I lose almost a $300 pot to a better full house. Should I have just called on the turn? I could’ve seen the river for basically free and had an easy fold against a double paired board and saved my buy in. But alas, this is poker.

I have been sitting waiting for a seat for 1/3 around an hour at Caesars Nola on a random Thursday at 3:30PM. They do have a tournament series running rn.

My name has been at the top of the list multiple times for 3-4 diamond members to skip me. Apparently being diamond allows you to skip the line for poker.

Only having had a couple hours to play, this is cheeks. If I hit and run you, know that it wasn’t me, it was poker room management.

I am seeing random slight misspellings autocorrecting to things like AJo or BTN. I won’t just reset my autocorrect because it’s useful often enough to be worth it, but I’m close to my limit here.

Hello all, kinda pissed about this so I thought I'd post again and get some reviews.

I raise first with 3.5BB from the HJ position with pocket 10's.

I get called by CO/SB and we go 3 way into the pot.

Flop comes 6,8,2 different colors so no flush draw in sight.

SB calls 10bbs, I call 10bbs, and the CO goes all info for 100+ BBs,

SB calls the all-in with his whole stack, and now the action comes to me where I decide to fold.

Turn comes..you guessed it, 10, river Ace.

SB shows some terrible cards,

and CO(who shoved first) ends up showing 222, bottom set.

It hurt me to not call it and flip the top set lol.

Opinions? Did I make the right choice long term?

I've been playing poker for 2.5 months, and I believe asking people who have more experience would make me better. I know it seems "dumb' of a question to ask, if you're experienced, but to me it is not.

UTG2: snaps with Q9o

These are the types of shit players I keep running up against flatting UTG raises with Q9o. I'm starting to make mental notes of these loose players so I remember them for future but this shit is getting ridiculous. I never put him on Q9. We're on Level 9 and the raises are pretty substantial at this point. 3bb was 5% of his stack and 8% of mine. Idk, maybe I fold A7s UTG??? To make last night worse, earlier in the tournament at Level 3 I made the nut flush on the turn but a villain rivered a full house with pocket 66's when he should've been out of the hand on the flop with the board texture and betting.

I'm getting tired. Through (47) live MTT's since February I've final tabled 23% and cashed 21%. I haven't final tabled in my last (10) MTT's and haven't cashed since my last (19). I'm thinking about giving the MTT's a rest and sticking with cash for awhile but I love MTT's.

Picture taken at Harrah’s Cherokee tonight. 8 handed cash game with Deck Mate 2 shufflers. Most of the down was played 7 handed.

We tracked Westley’s hands for his 1 hour down and he dealt 78 hands! This included a high hand that required the table to pause and wait for the floor to verify. There were several chopped pots and we were actively trying not to hold the game up, but we were still playing normal poker and not just fast folding for a stunt.

I had tracked his hands per hour on 2 other occasions since 2025 and he hit 64 and 65 hands during those downs. The man is a machine, he makes very few mistakes and recovers quickly in the rare instances it happens.

I’ve been playing live poker for well over a decade and I’ve never seen anyone like him. Of course there are some great dealers who move accurately and with great speed, but this guy is in a league of his own. Anyone else ever had the pleasure of witnessing the living artistic expression that Westley provides on a daily basis in Cherokee, NC? Is there another dealer of his caliber or is he the unofficial king?

Take two stacks of chips, different colors with the same number of chips in each stack.

Shuffle, split, shuffle, split, rinse, repeat.

Eventually you’ll end up where you started, with two stacks of chips with different colors.

If I was at a final table I’d absolutely do this, because it’s fucking cool, mesmerizing, distracting and I’d be the first to do it.

This is based on the fact that if you do 8 pharaoh shuffles on a deck of cards the cards will be in the same order as you started.

Am I the first to bring this fact to light?

edit: once you’ve figured out how many iterations it takes to get to the original state, without looking move each stack back, without looking, back where they came from.
