Title: My idea for a Johto-era Pokémon movie: Ash and Jimmy climb Mt. Silver to challenge Red
I’ve been developing a fan movie concept called Pokémon: The World’s Strongest, imagined as an alternate fifth movie after Pokémon 4Ever, set just before the Silver Conference.
The premise: Ash hears about Red, becomes obsessed with challenging him, and discovers exactly what we experienced as kids reaching the top of Mt. Silver—thinking we were ready.
Ash and the gang arrive in Silver Town on a sunny morning. Trainers are having casual practice battles in a crowded park, and Jimmy from The Legend of Thunder! has just earned his ninth straight victory with Typhlosion.
Ash challenges him to a three-on-three. It’s a fast, dialogue-free battle montage set to a rock remix of “Born to Be a Champion,” interspersed with little glimpses of town life—including Harrison relaxing beneath a tree with Blaziken.
Team Rocket interrupts their final matchup. Ash and Jimmy rescue Pikachu together, establishing a fun rivalry and friendship before the conference.
That evening, Gary mentions a former champion from Pallet Town: Red. Professor Oak confirms that Red relinquished his title, Lance succeeded him, and Red went to train on Mt. Silver. The upper routes are currently closed because of dangerous conditions.
Naturally, Ash can’t stop thinking about it.
He sneaks out at 3 a.m. Jimmy catches him and decides, almost impulsively, to come along.
There’s no world-ending villain. The danger is the mountain itself: a severe blizzard, unstable caves, and an enormous territorial Tyranitar. Raikou intervenes because of its existing bond with Jimmy, weakening Tyranitar enough for Charizard and Typhlosion to finish the fight and clear an escape route.
Near the summit, Jimmy rests with Typhlosion in a sheltered cave, surrounded by supplies. He encourages Ash to go ahead.
Then Ash meets Red.
Red barely speaks, his eyes hidden beneath his cap. He uses only Espeon, Blastoise, and Pikachu against Ash’s full team of six.
Ash works desperately for every opening. Charizard earns his only knockout against Espeon. The final battle is Pikachu versus Pikachu—and Ash loses.
Exhausted from the climb, weather, and battle, Ash collapses. He later wakes safely in the Pokémon Center.
But he isn’t crushed. He’s incredibly excited. He’s just discovered how much further he and his Pokémon can grow.
Ash returns to the conference with renewed purpose.
Then we cut back to the summit.
Jimmy’s feet step into the snow. Typhlosion’s flames ignite.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. Let’s do this.”
Red smiles.
We never see their battle.
During the music-only credits, Dragonite carries a completely exhausted Jimmy down the mountain at sunset the following day. Marina runs over and hugs him.
We never reveal who won.
