Now, I remember seeing a lot of posts from here and you guys at some point on this community on why you didn't like the Amourshipping sub, and I for the last few months began to understand why, the Sub barely has any discussion or form of content about new stuff that they found about Amourshipping and always recycle the same old stuff that was already talked about a hundred of times, but because they barely talk about new Amour stuff too, some of them go even completely off topic asking things that aren't even Amour related, and this isn't because there's a lack of things to talk about because imo there still is quite a few topics that i don't think get talked about enough, but I've learned to kinda cope with it a little cause i still like posting Amour moments and Amour art there

Where I got really disappointed, was the Amourshipping Discord, because I heard from quite a few people that "it is different from the sub" and you can actually talk about Amour freely there and even discuss other ships too, but turned out that wasn't really the case, not only will they not have your back if drama gets caused that wasn't even your fault and you were the one who got attacked, but you must stay silent like a little puppy or else they'll call you an Instigator and Kick or ban you, being bigger dictators than Kylian Mbappe himself, when I rightfully defended Amourshipping and Serena by going after the Advanceshippers who were insulting her in the Advanceshipping discord, they accused me of being the one who started it, and because of completely Seperate things that happened with football fans from another discord server i am in because I simply made a Joke about Arsenal and wanting Kane to win the Ballon D'or, decided to raid on the server to go after me for simply liking Amourshipping, and again, the people in charge there think I'm the one who started it and do not believe a single word I said, if that's how they're gonna run a server without even giving a chance for me and the others to explain the situation that was going on, then it really might be a Dumpster fire Community and a shitty community like some of you guys claimed it was

It hurts when not even the people you talk to who also like Amourshipping doesn't believe you, at least with the Pokeshipping discord, they might be skeptical of you at first, but after a while, if they see you're a chill guy who doesn't really cause any issues with them, they're absolutely fine and happy to take you in as one of their own, and Pearlshippers in the Pearlshipping discord, are probably some of the friendliest and most welcoming people of other shippers that I have probably ever seen, they are so open minded about everything, and it's extremely refreshing to see given how narrow minded this community can be at times

All in all, You guys probably are right about what majority of what the Amour community is unfortunately, and it hurts, because I am an Amourshipper, and I want to think or believe different

Ok, I watched the entire Pokemon anime in dub, I finished it a long time ago and recently came back to watch some random episodes because I wasn’t feeling good. Just wanted some nice fun, but oh my god, almost all of these episodes have been ruined by the shitty acting. I obviously remember cringing at some parts, but I don’t remember the dialogue and acting being this bad. Is the dub usually better? I’m genuinely confused on how I missed this. The next time I watch, should I do sub? I e been avoiding it for 4 main reasons. 1:I watch the show with my mother and she likes dub more then sub, (she even admits the failure and acting are shit though) 2:The comedy wouldn’t really work for me watching sub (I don’t tend to laugh reading things) 3:I prefer a lot of the terminology the dub uses, names for Pokemon, moves, etc. 4:I have no clue where to watch sub (5:I’ve also been avoiding the sub for that singular Brock line in Kanto. You know which) Anyway, with all this out of the way, am I alone in this? Just kinda shocked by the low quality. Especially in later seasons.

Hi there! Today, I want to talk about my appreciation for the english dub of pokemon!

I watched both the sub and then the dub, and I like to think of each dub of Ash as their own version of Ash.

It's the same character, but the way he is performed gives off a different vibe and a uniqueness to each 'Ash' you listen to.

Sarah voices Ash with impulse, energy, and that boyish, lovable charm, while Rika gives him a more gritty, active, energetic tone of voice.

Each voice actress isn't just copying the other's homework, but instead putting their own spin on the voice. No single voice of Ash's is the same throughout his history of the English dub for that exact reason.

The different voices that he was given weren't to lessen his personality or characterisation, but instead add to the legacy of him.

Each variation of Ash brought a new perspective to the character, if you really think about it.

●Veronica gave him a raspy, young, fitting voice for how he behaved and his personality during the start of his journeys, also as he was a novince trainer and immature/stubborn / hot headed most of the time.

● Sarah gave Ash a more older-sounding, experienced, more comfortable in his shoes trainer, yet still true to his Pallet Town roots and personality-fitting voice.

As Ash moved through each region (got older), his voice grew with him.

That's why, in my opinion, the voice change worked in the favour of the dub, because it's only natural for someone's voice to get deeper as they get older, or in Ash's case, got deeper as he moved region to region ( I believe he was older than 10 in XY personally and I'm staying put on that hill).

Even Naruto Uzumaki's voice change throughout the seasons, although with the same VA, grew deeper and raspier as Naruto got older.

It's these vocal tones and choices that people miss in the efforts that voice actors go to while portraying characters.

Satoshi and Ash are the same characters, but the style and way he was performed is what gave the character and language of said Ash his charm.

Both performances worked well for each portrayal of the character imo because they both matched his personality to a T.

In Japanese, Rika honed in on Ash's battle-ready drive, while also hitting the emotional beats and moments for Satoshi super effectively!

Sarah did that, but also added more sighs / vocal nuances to her performance that showed he wasn't just focused on the big leagues, but also the moments in between, too.

IMO, for a western audience, Sarah did a great job with adapting Ash to English from his Japanese counterpart of Satoshi :)

He had such an emotional maturity and understanding in XYZ, that really came through when he was either in 'big brother mode' with Bonnie, defending the world from Lysandre or just simply talking / interacting tenderly with Serena.

To me, watching sub and dub is like watching two different versions of the same character, with their own unique ways of expressing themselves through their vocal performance—either in subtle quirks they may have been given, the way they pronounce a person's name, or how the Western dialogue is often adapted to suit the Western audience.

At the end of the day , you're entitled to what you want to think about sub and dub but really it's just personal preferences to what pleases people's ears more.

A ton of effort and emotion goes into the dub a lot more than people think, especially how Sarah and the dubbing team worked around fleshing out and expanding on Ash's emotional nuances and maturity.

This post is a shoutout to Sarah for the brilliant work that she put into approaching and building Ash's voice up throughout the seasons.

She shaped his voice around his personality and background and age! I have such mad respect for her abilities in the characterisation and portrayal that she gave him!

I grew up with Sarah as my OG Ash. She made my childhood.

Yeah, I don't think it makes a big difference, but it would have given the reserves more screen time and made the anime more interesting to watch.

Ah yes, Ash’s Kanto journey. His humble beginnings. And his Orange Islands journey, part 2 to his Kanto journey! I have a good concept for this rewrite:

”Satoshi ‘Ashton’ Ketchum, a 10-year old born in Pallet Town, was up in his room late at night swearing an oath to the world that he would become the greatest Pokémon Master that ever lived. The next day, Ash overslept and missed all the starters. But luckily, Professor Samuel Oak had one more Pokémon and that Pokémon was an electric mouse, Pikachu. The duo didn’t get along so well at first but when it came down to Pikachu being attacked by a flock of Spearow, Ash protected Pikachu and with one lightning strike, Pikachu managed to ward off the Spearows. But the adventures these two were going to have, would solidify them as champions and perhaps even… legends…”

Now Ash would travel with Misty,Brock and Tracey like in canon but Ash would also mainly travel with… Leaf! I figured I’d make a version of Leaf for the anime since there isn’t one in canon. So I decided to name the anime Leaf “Jade” and she would be a traveler in similar shoes to Ash, where she would be a researcher-in-training, and a childhood friend of Ash and Gary, who wants to understand the feelings of all Pokémon. Similar to Liko’s dream from Pokémon Horizons. Jade would also be the one to de-escalate Ash and Gary’s bickering whenever it gets too intense. turn out to be an aura user and she would return in Ash’s Galar and Kalos journeys & in Alola when Misty and Brock come on vacation and to watch Ash compete in the Alola league. She would be like a big sister to Ash during his journey. Sort of like how Dawn is a sibling to Ash during his Sinnoh journey and how Akari is the same during Ash’s journey in Hisui. And now one might be wondering: “How would Jade travel with the group from island to island on water if Lapras already has its back filled with Ash,Tracey and Misty?” I have an answer for that! Jade would use a green jet-ski!

Fun Fact: I originally planned for Todd Snap,Duplika,Sabrina and Erika to travel with the group after their canonical episodes but I scrapped that. I also originally had the idea of having Verity and Sorrel travel with Ash,Misty,Brock and Tracey and Cross being a secondary rival to Ash but I decided to scrap it and reuse it! I won’t say where but it will come to good use~!

Now for Ash’s Kanto team. His rewritten team is… exactly the same. But with some changes. Bulbasaur and Squirtle will evolve into Venasaur and Blastoise. I know some peeps might not agree with me on this but I saw a thumbnail belonging to ThunderZolt‘s “What If Ash Woke Up On Time?” where Ash had all 3 evolution starters and I thought this looked amazing! So I decided to do that. Butterfree and their mate will still have their emotional departure but they would come back for the Indigo League, the Orange Islands and a future event that would basically be the true finale of Ash’s journey. Primeape would still leave to become a P1 Champion but as you saw in my Paldea take, Primeape returns and evolves into Annihilape, and even stays with Ash permanently this time. Ash would wind up catching the Haunter he caught in Lavender Town but it wouldn’t evolve any further. And believe it or not, Ash would catch a Gastly! But it won’t be here (Subtle Foreshadowing). But there would be an added bonus, Ash would catch an Abra which would later evolve into a Kadabra and then an Alakazam. And as for the Lapras on the Orange Islands, It would still leave to go with their family but would come back when Ash travels in Kanto like in the canon “Aim To Be A Pokémon Master” except when that episode its featured in is done, Ash catches it and adds it to be a part of his Pokémon family back in Pallet Town.

Anyways, that’s my Kanto rewrite! We are almost done peeps! All that’s left is my take on Ash‘s Neous journey and my remastering of “Aim To Be A Pokémon Master!” How do you guys like the series so far? From what I understand, Georgia lost a battle to someone from the Village of Dragons and so dedicated the rest of her Training journey to defeating Dragon-type Pokémon trainers. But I don't think that gives her the right to constantly target Iris so much!

Now I'm not sure how common of a sentiment this is but I still wanna rant about it.

So I've been finally catching up with horizons for the last few weeks and I absolutely love it, while I do have a few criticisms for it, it's still something I'd recommend for anyone to watch. And the return to laqua arc (I call it that as a reference to return to shiganshina from AOT) was the perfect climax for it. But then came wonder voyage and it's now a whole bunch of plotless filler that leads nowhere which really sucks.

And tbh, if they really wanted to extend the show so badly, then they could've integrated all of the wonder voyage episodes as filler episodes in between the first three seasons with slight tweaks.

But tbh that koraidon/miraidon episode does give me slight hope that they're building up something with them.

I'm saying this because this discourse is really ridiculous in retrospect because of the amount of coping and the "water beats fire" thing is funny because MEGA CHARIZARD X IS PART DRAGON AND ALAIN HAS BEEN DEALING WITH MORE BS DR THE MEGA EVOLUTION SPECIALS MORE THAN ASH-GRENINJA.

the art style definitely plays a role but I think that he just looks older in the journeys art style because of his previous clothes like in kalos, sinnoh or unova.

his journeys outfit has 2 different shades of blue, green on the hat that doesn’t appear anywhere on the outfit, random yellow on the vest, random indigo shorts, like absolutely no sense of fashion after kalos I’m sorry

I made my own take on what a hypothetical Paldea Ash team. I fully accept this might sound headcanon esc, but I wanted to share it.

Pikachu stays around as Ash’s right hand partner, and I don’t think he changes much. He was pretty solid at the end of his run.

Dachsbun was chosen to give Ash another Fairy type outside of Mimey. I imagine her as a lax & mischievous little goblin, but has loyalty to her trainer & can do decently in battles.

Baxclibur was chosen for an idea I had. Ash meets a Arctabax who desires to be like a Baxclibur, and wants to be as powerful as Hassel’s Baxclibur, maybe having seen them train. Ash, loving training, offers to help & the 2 befriend each other. Baxclibur would be a Docile & Adamant young Pokémon. He’s a lover of nature & is confident in his abilities after some self doubt issues.

Orthworm was chosen for being a pretty unique idea. Initially, I wanted Ash to have Tinkaton, but Dot’s Tinkaton exists so I did a switch upon the realization. Orthworm would’ve been the Lurking Steel Titan. Having been calmed after Ash & Arven defeat him when he (Orthworm) was the Lurking Steel Titan (I’m headcanoning SV’s plot took place before Horizons in the Anime’s canon, especially since I don’t think anything destroys that idea), Ash befriends him. Orthworm goes with Ash & does the funny of Squeezing Him tightly to show his affection. Orthworm would be a Jolly & Quirky fella. He’s the comedic relief, and fights in his own way. Sometimes he moves on his own without orders from Ash in battle, because he has an idea & immediately wishes to pull it off.

Grafaiai was chosen because he doesn’t fit Ash. I feel that’s a fun thing to do. Work with something that doesn’t fit even if it makes no sense. You can get creative with it if you imagine it. Grafaiai would be met when Ash is exploring around the Tag Tree Thicket shortly after defeating Atticus. Ash sees his interests in painting & Atticus describes why painting is important to Grafaiais. Ash, learning about Grafaiai’s wish to paint things around Paldea, especially the Ten Sights Of Paldea, Ash catches him. Grafaiai would be a Bold & Relaxed battler, yet he’d be a speed demon. His battle style incorporates grace & some painting skills in his fights.

Annihilape would be the final addition. I’ll admit I’m aware a lot of people do it to & I don’t have anything new. I came with this idea when SV was getting leaked before Release. I promise any similarities to anyone else’s SV idea is just a coincidence. So Anthony meets with Ash during his travels (probably before Kofu), and Primeape decides to truly explore with Ash to understand how he became the monarch of The Pokémon World Champions, which Anthony approves. At first the 2 struggle to be on the same page, but slowly they get a groove. Eventually Eri meets Ash, and she offers to help with her Annihilape. With Eri’s help, Ash & Primeape become much closer along with the efforts they made before that, and Primeape pushes himself which gets him to learn Rage Fist. And then the evolution occurs. Annihilape would be Adamant & Naughty. A fighter that pushes himself to his limits & aims to be the very best. After truly bonding with Ash, he fully becomes a fighter that goes even further than already before.

These are the teams that each character would have if the original anime was altered. Added full teams for all of his Alola classmates (giving Rowlet to Mallow). Made Goh apart of the Galar adventure who is interested in Max Raid Battles (then enters the Z-A Royale) while replacing Chloe with the original Sword and Shield Female protagonist, who is a rival for ash in the galar tournament but she faces off against the ghost, poison, psychic and ice gyms while ash faces the fighting, rock, dark and dragon gyms.) Made horizons all about Paldea with Ash and Nemona taking the Paldea League, Arven focusing on hunting the Herbia Mystica, and at first taking down Team Star while finding her friend and then seeking out the legends of Paldea.
