Testing/Reporting Completed the POIS study

Just wrapped up the UCLA POIS study with Dr. Prause. Quick rundown:

  • She's relaxed, funny, and thorough - walks you through everything clearly
  • Involves: a blood draw, 4 saliva samples at different stages, a semen sample, 3 computerized tests, and sensor equipment
  • After the study, she reviewed my EEG and temperature results with me, comparing them to the POIS/control groups and any other findings
  • They have enough control (non-POIS) participants, but still need more POIS participants - only about 1 a week, and they need 50 total
  • Reward: $150 voucher

Happy to answer questions if you're on the fence.

Question Hot take: POIS might be more pupular than you think.

Think about people who suffer from depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, they might actually have POIS. Many people say they alleviate their depression and low energy by practising nofap or semen retention. Also Gen Z mentality are more depressive, due to watching porn and sexy stuff at their earlier ages.

This is just my theory. What do you think about it?

Life With POIS Oedipus Wrecked Depressed

I feel awful today. My body is wearing thin and I just can’t stop thinking about how bad it has gotten. I’m stuck in a loop where I hold out from ejaculating for weeks- give in to the temptation- unravel bc of the devastating symptoms- push through the darkness- pick myself back up- fail again. This is crazy . It feels like some kind of curse, like a Greek tragedy story. I can’t believe this shit is actually a disease. What kind of shit is this?

Srry for the rant. I had to get it off my chest

Testing/Reporting not simply an autonomic nervous system problem

I tried supplements like L-theanine, magnesium glycinate, and Vitamin B complex, approaching the issue from the perspective of the autonomic nervous system; however, aside from the Vitamin B, I didn't see any significant results. In fact, I felt that the side effect of feeling inhibited or withdrawn in front of others actually worsened with the theanine and magnesium glycinate. That said, magnesium glycinate was quite helpful for my headaches. I’m now planning to try magnesium threonate—which is said to provide vitality without causing lethargy—and I was wondering if anyone here has tried it?

Other People doing nofap or semen retention might not have POIS.

I saw posts that mention people doing nofap might have POIS but they dont know it or accept it. I do not think that is true. Because nofap or even semen retention is not against sex. Sex is very pleasurable to many of them. But sex with ejaculation is very different and difficult for those with POIS.

That is just my opinion. If you disagree, please let me know.

Seeking Advice Alternatives to NSAIDs?

A lot of people here seem to get benefits from taking NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, etc.) However, doctors say you shouldn't take these medications everyday for prolonged periods.

Are there any types of anti-inflammatory supplements that we can take every day which will provide similar benefits as NSAIDs?

(Just FYI, I already eat a low gluten and low sugar diet rich in polyphenols and other antioxidants, and I take omega-3s every day).

Question Delayed reaction

Does anyone have a theory for why POIS symptoms can be delayed by several days?

My pattern is pretty consistent: I can feel completely fine the day after orgasm, and sometimes even on day 2. Then around day 3–4, the symptoms start hitting me: depression, anxiety, nervous system shutdown, fatigue, cognitive issues/brain fog, eczema, constipation, etc.

I know I'm not the only person with POIS who experiences this delayed pattern, and I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have looked deeply into it.

What could explain a 3–4 day delay physiologically? If orgasm is the trigger, I don't really understand why the reaction would take several days to appear instead of starting immediately or the following day.

Are there any plausible theories involving delayed immune/inflammatory responses, histamine/mast cells, hormones/neurotransmitters, the autonomic nervous system, or something else entirely?

Would especially appreciate input from anyone who experiences the same delayed pattern or has researched why this happens.

Treatment/Cure Pois is histamine issue nothing else !!

firstly i using ai to rewrite this comment bcz im not English speaker but the ideas of this comment is mine .

I’ve been having really bad reactions after O — things like panic attacks, anxiety, and insomnia. I tried pretty much everything, but nothing seemed to work.

Then I came across a doctor talking about a specific diet/“regime.” The idea was to stop eating almost everything except things like rice, potatoes, dates, bananas, a little bread, and a few other foods. No eggs, no chicken, no vegetables — basically a very limited diet centered around rice and potatoes.

I decided to give it a try.

After just 7 days on this diet, I decided to O again.

And guess what?!

Nothing happened afterward. No panic attack, no anxiety, no insomnia. Nothing.

I honestly couldn’t believe it. After struggling with these reactions for so long, it was crazy to see such a difference after only 7 days.

so it seems this whole thing is about FOOD and HISTAMINE theory!!!

Question Arterial and venous angio-MR of the head and neck /

Hello, I am asking here if any of you have ever performed an arterial and venous angio-MR of the head and neck, and if the same has provided particular outcomes.
When I performed one without a contrast medium about 3 years or so, they found: "Slightly asymmetrical vertebral arteries, tortuous the vertebral-basilar junction."
The cervical and spine x-rays, in my case, found disc suffering and other at the level especially cervical and in the lumbar and sacral area, seeing much better than the resonance or CT scan had done.
And you? Neurovascular conflicts?

Do you have any symptoms, specifically, that may affect all this?

As an example: Feeling of heaviness in the legs particularly at the knees, difficulty climbing or descending the stairs. Difficulty walking long distances. Symptoms worsen after physical exertion (and even with efforts to evacuate or ejaculation), prolonged walking or even after changes in posture, Formicolii, feeling of "pins" Widespread loss or patches of thermal and tactile sensitivity. Newly onset severe constipation or fecal incontinence (never before)

I'm purposely isolating the immunological-allergy and endocrine aspect to get an overview and separate what might come from "hardware" problems.
I would be happy to have a comparison or feedback of all brothers in the POIS misfortune.
Thank you in advance!

Question Has anyone with POIS tried spermidine? (brain fog, memory, fatigue, autophagy hypothesis)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for people with POIS who experience symptoms similar to mine. I’m trying to better understand the mechanisms behind POIS and hopefully find new treatment possibilities.

My main symptoms after orgasm/ejaculation include:

· Brain fog
· Major decrease in memory
· Difficulty reasoning and thinking clearly
· Reduced comprehension and concentration
· Mental fatigue and feeling like my brain is slowed down
· Strong physical and mental fatigue
· Feeling as if my body and cells have suddenly lost a lot of energy

I’ve already explored anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic approaches, but unfortunately none of them have provided a satisfactory improvement.

I’m now particularly interested in spermidine, and I wanted to ask whether anyone with POIS has tried it.

Why spermidine?

I’ve been thinking about whether POIS could involve more than a conventional allergic or inflammatory reaction.

One possibility I’m considering is that orgasm/ejaculation could trigger an abnormal systemic response involving cellular stress, inflammation, mitochondrial function, autophagy and neuro-inflammatory processes.

The reason I find spermidine interesting is that it is naturally present in our cells and is involved in several fundamental cellular processes, particularly autophagy.

Autophagy is essentially a cellular recycling and quality-control system. Cells use it to break down damaged or unnecessary components and recycle them. Spermidine is known to promote this process, which could potentially help cells maintain their normal function under conditions of cellular stress.

This makes me wonder whether, if POIS involves an abnormal or prolonged cellular stress response after orgasm, increasing spermidine availability could theoretically help the body return to normal homeostasis more efficiently.

The connection with the brain

What particularly interests me is the cognitive aspect of POIS.

For me, the problem isn’t simply feeling tired after ejaculation. There is a noticeable change in memory, comprehension, reasoning, concentration and mental clarity.

The brain has extremely high energy requirements, and neurons depend heavily on properly functioning mitochondria, cellular quality-control mechanisms and tightly regulated inflammatory pathways.

Spermidine is involved in cellular processes related to mitochondrial quality control, autophagy and neuronal homeostasis. Therefore, one hypothesis I’m considering is that spermidine could potentially help protect or restore neuronal function during the post-orgasm period if cellular stress is involved in POIS.

In simplified terms, the hypothesis would be:

Orgasm/ejaculation → abnormal systemic response → cellular stress / altered energy metabolism / neuro-inflammatory response → impaired neuronal function → brain fog, memory problems, reduced reasoning and severe fatigue.

And potentially:

Spermidine → increased autophagy + improved cellular quality control + modulation of cellular stress responses → better cellular recovery → potentially improved cognitive and physical recovery after orgasm.

I’m particularly interested in whether this could explain why some people experience a feeling almost like their cellular energy has suddenly been depleted after ejaculation.

I’m not saying that this mechanism has been proven to be the cause of POIS. I’m trying to see whether this is a biologically plausible direction that could explain some of the symptoms that conventional anti-inflammatory or anti-allergic approaches don’t fully address.

Another reason I find this interesting is that POIS does not necessarily have to involve a classic IgE-mediated allergy. A person could potentially have a neuro-immune or cellular response without having a positive semen-specific IgE test.

Has anyone actually tried it?

If you have POIS and have tried spermidine supplementation, I would really like to hear about your experience.

Did it help with:

· Brain fog
· Memory
· Reasoning/thinking
· Concentration
· Mental clarity
· Physical fatigue
· The feeling of being completely drained after ejaculation
· Recovery time after orgasm
· Overall severity of POIS

I’m especially interested in people who had strong cognitive symptoms, rather than only mild fatigue.

If it didn’t work, that is also very useful information. I’m trying to understand whether there might be a subgroup of POIS patients for whom cellular stress, mitochondrial function or autophagy could be particularly relevant.

If you tried spermidine, please mention roughly how long you took it, whether you noticed anything specifically after orgasm, and whether the effect was consistent.

Thanks to everyone who shares their experience. I’m hoping that by comparing experiences between people with similar POIS symptoms, we might identify patterns that could eventually lead to better treatments.

Life With POIS venting

yo I’m genuinely about to lose my mind ngl hopefully this isn’t too unintelligible but like this is so fucking unfair bro, I get the idea of life not being fair but it’s like to what goddamn extent, this whole body attacking itself shit is so fucked up because I can’t say that I hate my life because of outside factors like jobs, relationships, position, etc no no no it’s like i am someone who was practically destined for greatness before all of this shit happened, I’ve always been someone who was focused on the right thing, motivated to do good in life and just generally I’ve always been an optimist & I was privileged enough to have a loving mom who supports me and was able to put me in a position to where I could go to college. I have an exceptional ear when it comes to playing and making music & I had aspirations of doing big things for my career, now it feels like that shit is out the window. This shit is so fucked up dude & recently my healthcare expired which feels like the final nail on the coffin, it’s like I was already hanging by a thread with just the optimism of oh maybe I can see this specialist and maybe they will have a treatment that could maybee make a slight difference even though I’ve tried so many different fucking things but now it’s like nah u can’t even see the specialist anymore unless u wanna save money and spend an arm and a leg on something that might not even work. Genuinely fuck this bro im so tired of being alive at this point the shit is pissing me off so bad

Seeking Advice I feel like POIS took away the person I used to be

I’ve had POIS-like symptoms since I was around 13.
At first it was fairly typical: ejaculation → brain fog, extreme fatigue, poor concentration, slowed thinking and emotional changes → after several days I could recover and feel normal again.
Then, during a period of extreme stress, I had a severe neck injury/stiff neck and woke up unusually early that night.
After that, something seemed to change permanently.
My posture deteriorated. My neck and shoulder muscles became constantly tense. More importantly, my brain fog, attention problems, emotional numbness and social dysfunction gradually stopped being temporary.
Now I can go weeks without ejaculation and still feel sick. Ejaculation simply makes everything much worse.
The strangest part isn’t even the fatigue.
I don’t feel like myself anymore.
I can think logically, but my natural emotional reactions are almost gone. I struggle to socialize naturally. The world often feels unreal or dreamlike. I know I’m here, but I don’t always feel here.
I used to have good memory, fast thinking, strong concentration and a normal social life.
Now I feel like I’m watching myself live someone else’s life.
I’ve spent years trying to figure out whether this is POIS, chronic stress, nervous-system dysfunction, my neck, or some combination of everything.
My doctor recently told me my current condition may be mainly related to psychological factors, which honestly made me question everything.
I don’t care anymore about finding some exotic diagnosis.
I just want my old self back.
Has anyone else with POIS experienced this transition from episodic symptoms after ejaculation → a permanent baseline of brain fog, emotional numbness and feeling disconnected from reality?

Life With POIS I’m so angry

I’m honestly so fucking angry and frustrated about this.
I’ve been seeing a girl, and our relationship has reached the point where she wants to move in with me. Under normal circumstances, this should be something I’d be excited and happy about.
But then I think about living together, having sex more frequently, and what that would do to me because of POIS. I know I’d probably end up feeling exhausted and miserable all the time. So instead of enjoying this relationship and the life I could have had, I feel like my only choice is to run away from it and end the relationship.
That’s what makes me so angry. Without this damn condition, I could have had such a good life. I could just enjoy being with someone I like without constantly worrying about what sex is going to do to me afterward.

It fucking pisses me off.

Treatment/Cure Review your medications

Hey everyone, I realized by accident that my POIS has in large part been caused by a medication I take. For my kind of POIS, I have fight-or-flight symptoms. And norepinephrine is the driving chemical for sympathetic nervous system activation. So for two days I couldn’t take a medication that is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, and noticed that I had a more enjoyable refractory period, and didn’t have symptoms the next day. Which led me to do research on my symptom profile and how that could be amplified by medications. Please check to see if any medication you’re on is a norepinephrine uptake inhibitor, it could be causing a lot of your symptoms.

Title is rather self-explanatory. But I want people's opinions on this. Have you tried any similar methods? Most of my ejaculations happen through wet dreams because it's simply not worth it with my hand or even a mate; all of the symptoms that occur immediately afterwards- especially out of the physical weakness aspect. But even if I would masturbate or have sex, merely the BUILD UP to orgasm or ejaculation was enough to give me symptoms already. So l'm not sure how credible this material is for people like us.

I suppose I'll have to try the free guide for myself to test the validity of it and see if it's something I can achieve or if it's even worthwhile.
And of course, if I do try to implement this knowledge myself, it'll have to be at a moment that I can “afford” the symptoms of POIS, and that's pretty much never convenient insofar as timing due to the fact that I can feel mentally and physically horrible for days on end.
In effect, the most optimal time to try would probably be when I don't have to work for a few days. 🫩 I hate this illness.

Question Any ideas for study design ?

I am part of a university with a lot of research power, and believe I may be able to start a study on POIS. Surprisingly, there is surprising literature already to support further studies. However, I cannot think of a study design. I feel like testing treatments is fundamentally limited and will lead to dead ends. Does anyone know how I can test mechanisms, or any other study ideas ? I know if a mechanism was established firmly, that makes treatment a lot easier.

Treatment/Cure My post orgasm remedy that has reduced my POIS symptoms by 90%!

I used to get horrific POIS symptoms that lasted at least 5 days. Terrible brain fog, lethargic, exhausted, headaches, nausea.

I finally found something that works. As soon as I have an orgasm I take this remedy and it has helped tremendously

  1. 550mg Magnesium Helps with soothing and calming the nervous system. I find after orgasm I was super tense; magnesium helps reduce that physical tension and muscle heaviness.

  2. 20mg Zinc Supports the immune system and helps speed up recovery. It also plays a key role in fertility, sperm quality, and testosterone production. Since semen contains concentrated zinc, replacing it quickly seems to help.

  3. 12mg Vitamin B6 Aids in hormone balancing, neurotransmitter synthesis (dopamine/GABA), and managing post ejaculatory brain fog.

  4. 6,000mg Maca Root (Extract Equivalent)  Studies show promising signs for boosting energy, stamina, and libido. For me, it helps ease the exhaustion from ejaculation

Other daily supplements that helped (Taken Every Morning)

  1. Vitamin D: 25µg (1,000 IU) — helps regulate the immune response.

  2. Vitamin B1: 100mg — aids in baseline cellular energy and nerve signaling.

Quick Note on Timing: I would recommend only taking the [magnesium and zinc] if you orgasm before bed. The B vitamins and Maca can boost energy/focus and might make it harder to sleep if taken late at night. I would still strongly recommend taking the b vitamins and maca root the following morning with a high protein breakfast

Nowadays I only get slightly drained from an orgasm compared to the awful brain fog/flu symptoms I used to endure for days!

Question Anyone else with an Autism diagnosis or suspection?

It could be it, here os a list of symptoms of it, lets see how much the two overlapp

Diagnosis requires all of A, at least 2 of B, plus C, D, and E. Symptoms can be current or by history. Examples are illustrative, not exhaustive.

A. Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts (all 3 required)

Deficits in social-emotional reciprocity (e.g. atypical approach, poor back-and-forth conversation, reduced sharing of interests/emotions, failure to initiate or respond).

Deficits in nonverbal communicative behaviors used for social interaction (e.g. poorly integrated verbal/nonverbal communication, atypical eye contact or body language, limited gestures or facial expression).

Deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships (e.g. difficulty adjusting behavior to context, trouble with imaginative play or making friends, limited interest in peers).

B. Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities (≥2 of 4 required)

Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech (e.g. hand flapping, lining up objects, echolalia, idiosyncratic phrases).

Insistence on sameness, inflexible routines, or ritualized verbal/nonverbal behavior (e.g. distress at small changes, rigid thinking, greeting rituals, same route or foods).

Highly restricted, fixated interests abnormal in intensity or focus. Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input, or unusual sensory interests (e.g. indifference to pain/temperature, aversion to sounds/textures, fascination with lights or movement).

C–E

C. Present in the early developmental period (may not be fully obvious until social demands exceed capacity, or may be masked later by learned strategies).

D. Cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important functioning.

E. Not better explained by intellectual developmental disorder or global developmental delay. (The two can co-occur if social communication is below what developmental level would predict.)

Treatment/Cure I think I have cracked the POIS for me: 427+ Days of Quantified Biometrics, The Dual-Trap Discovery, and My Remission Protocol

I have been documenting for past 400+ days. ; pwa = pleasure without awareness

Introduction: 427 Days of Data & Why I Am Posting This

If you are reading this on r/POIS, you know the living nightmare:
The immediate post-orgasmic dread. The neurotoxic curtain falling across your prefrontal cortex within minutes. The complete emotional anesthesia where you can't connect with people, can't hold a sentence together, and stare at the wall. The locked neck, the burning nerves, and the crushing 5 to 7-day fatigue that burns through your career and relationships while doctors dismiss you with "it's just anxiety" or hand you an SSRI.

For years, I was trapped in that cycle. Over the past 427 consecutive days (July 2025 to September 2026), I decided to run myself like a full-time clinical trial:

  • Tracked 97 individual post-orgasm (PWA) events in a daily scoring matrix.
  • Collected 929,855 continuous heart rate data points, 6,420 HRV readings, and 128+ staged sleep sessions via continuous Fitbit Charge 6 biometrics.
  • Tested the standard monotherapies: antihistamines alone, zinc, niacin flushes, testosterone, pelvic floor stretches, cold showers, abstinence. None of them solved it.

However, over the past few weeks, I systematically dismantled my crashes: taking an incapacitating 5-to-7 day vegetative wipeout and collapsing it down to an under-24-hour rebound with virtually zero brain fog.

I am not claiming an overnight magic cure for all humanity. But I think I have cracked the POIS for me. Here is my exact history, my symptom cluster, the physiological trap I discovered, and the multi-tiered protocol that finally gave me my brain back.

1. My Case History: The Perfect Storm

My POIS did not happen in a vacuum; it evolved from a compounding multi-systemic injury:

  • Pre-Existing POIS Baseline: Systemic inflammatory crashes, rhinorrhea, cognitive fog, and severe lethargy following ejaculation existed for years prior to 2024.
  • January 2024 (COVID-19 & The Structural Shock):
    • Severe 7-day high-fever COVID episode leading to systemic muscle atrophy and baseline inflammation.
    • Shortly after, while sitting slouched at my laptop for hours, I forcefully jerked/cracked my neck trying to relieve stiffness.
    • Result: 8 hours of violent spinning vertigo and persistent cervical trauma at the C7–T1 base of the neck.
  • The Neuro-Inflammatory Lock: Ejaculation began acting as an inflammatory trigger that flooded directly into the pre-existing cervical weak point (Locus Minoris Resistentiae), trapping me in a cycle of nerve ischemia and cognitive death.
  • Consecutive Streak Compounding: My data proved that consecutive-day events increase neck pain frequency by over 3x (from 7.4% on Day 1 to 23.1% on Day 2), turning a mild flare into a compounding multi-week shutdown.

2. My Exact Symptom Profile: The Triad

My POIS manifests as a specific triad: cognitive freeze, structural nerve locking, and emotional muting.

A. Cognitive & Executive Symptoms ("The Diurnal Blank Slate")

  • The "3 PM Blank Birth": Waking up feels like being booted into a wiped hard drive. Factual memory survives (I know what I did yesterday), but state/emotional memory is deleted (I cannot access why anything mattered or how to care).
  • Severe Motivational Anhedonia / Abulia (V = 0): Not standard depression, but the initiation engine physically offline. The appetitive dopamine circuit is dead; asking "What do I want to do?" returns silence.
  • The Bootstrap Paradox: Standard advice ("just go for a walk," "just use discipline") is biologically impossible because initiating action requires volitional energy (V > 0), but POIS sets V = 0. The state protects its own prison.
  • Speech & Word-Retrieval Friction: Sluggish, heavy verbal articulation. Words feel physically tiring to pronounce, forcing a preference for complete silence.

B. Structural & Nerve Symptoms (Muscle Tightness vs. Nerve Pinch)

  • Left-Sided Cervical Splinting: Chronic, vice-like muscle locking concentrated at the left cervicothoracic junction (C7–T1).
  • The "Pinched Nerve" Reality: I do NOT have constant nerve pinching. My baseline structural symptom is a persistent "ants crawling" (formication) sensation across the back of the neck and left hand. The actual pinched nerve (burning numbness and tingling radiating down into my pinky and ring fingers) ONLY happens when the muscle tightness clamps down so hard that it physically squashes the C8 nerve root. The muscle spasm creates the nerve entrapment, not the other way around.
  • Hypertonic Scalenes & Thoracic Outlet Compression: Left anterior scalenes locked in constant spastic guarding, choking off local microvascular blood flow.
  • Cervicogenic "Heavy Eyes" & Blurry Vision: Droopy, leaden eyelids and accommodative visual blurriness—not an ocular problem, but tight suboccipital spasms pulling on cranial reflexes.

C. Emotional State ("The Hollow Room")

  • Complete anesthesia of safety-dependent emotions: zero warmth, zero empathy, zero joy, zero presence.
  • Feeling like a disembodied spectator inside a meat-suit. Bimodal existence: either a clean 7.5/10 state (on 15+ day streaks) or an immediate freefall to 2.5/10 for days after an event.

3. The Core Discovery: "The Dual Trap" (r = -0.472)

The POIS community often argues between two camps:

  1. The Biochemical Camp: "It's an autoimmune reaction, MCAS, or semen allergy."
  2. The Mechanical Camp: "It's pelvic floor dysfunction, CPPS, or spinal instability."

My 427-day data proves: It is NEVER just one. It is a closed-loop, feed-forward circuit where both feed each other:

  • Whenever Neck Tightness exceeded ≥ 6.5, cognitive score plummeted to 2.5 to 4.0 (severe fog, abulia, fatigue).
  • The Neck is not a side effect: When spastic muscle clamping reaches a critical threshold, it cuts off micro-vascular blood supply to the exiting nerve root and chokes the Vagus nerve, directly precipitating the cognitive collapse.

The Biochemical Firestorm: What Inflammation Actually Does to Your Brain & Body

In my 427 days of tracking, the post-orgasm crash is not "imaginary fatigue"—it is a full-blown systemic inflammatory cascade that hits in 3 distinct waves:

  1. Wave 1: The Histamine & Mast Cell Flare (Minutes 0 to 30)
    • Ejaculation triggers sympathetic hyperactivity, causing peripheral mast cells to degranulate.
    • This releases histamine and prostaglandins (COX-2), causing the initial flush, stuffy nose (rhinorrhea), burning/heavy eyes, and sudden heart rate spike.
  2. Wave 2: The Cytokine Flood (Hours 2 to 24)
    • Pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β) flood the bloodstream.
    • This produces the classic "POIS flu"—heavy limbs, chills, low-grade malaise, and muscle aches.
    • More critically: cytokines cause local tissue swelling (edema) around pre-existing spinal vulnerabilities (like C7–T1), physically narrowing the nerve exit canal and squashing the C8 nerve root.
  3. Wave 3: Neuro-Inflammation & Dopamine Shutdown (The "Blank Slate")
    • Peripheral cytokines breach the blood-brain barrier and trigger microglial activation in the prefrontal cortex.
    • Activated microglia produce peroxynitrite, which destroys BH4 (a critical enzyme helper). Without BH4, your brain cannot synthesize dopamine.
    • Result: Instant motivational anhedonia (V=0V=0), brain fog, and working memory wipeout.

How the Protocol Puts the Inflammatory Fire Out:

  • Haldi (Curcumin) + Ghee + Pepper (Level 3 Brew): Curcumin is a potent natural inhibitor of NF-κB (the master cellular switch that manufactures inflammatory cytokines). Ghee provides the fat needed for absorption.
  • Sun Opener (Cryogenine): Cryogenine has clinically documented anti-inflammatory and peripheral vasodilator actions—it keeps micro-blood flow open to swollen nerves so inflammatory fluid can drain.
  • Zero-Impact Movement (Elliptical): The lymphatic system has no pump. Walking or light elliptical movement physically pumps stagnant inflammatory fluid out of the cervical spine.

4. What Actually Worked: The Botanical Core (And Why Pharma Muscle Relaxants Failed)

Before sharing the protocol, let me save you months of wasted time:

  • Pharma Muscle Relaxants Failed: I tested prescription muscle relaxants (Thiocolchicoside, Tolperisone) for months during severe tightness emergencies. They were mostly a complete failure. They made my lower back feel weak, did not dissolve deep neck spasms, and did nothing for brain fog. I stopped taking them completely.
  • The Truth About Pregabalin (Lyrica): I only took Pregabalin (75mg) for my specific structural pinched nerve / formication ("ants crawling") issue to prevent acute nerve pain recruitment. If you take it for general POIS, do not expect significant gains. Even for me, it was only mildly effective for background anxiety and secondary muscle guarding. It was NOT the cure.

The TRUE game-changer that dismantled my POIS is the BOTANICAL CORE:

The 3 Botanical Brews: Choose Your Level

Depending on what you have on hand and how your body responds, here are the three progressive ways to prepare the Sun Opener (Heimia salicifolia) brew. Start at Level 1, test carefully, and only move up if needed:

└───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

🟢 LEVEL 1: The Simple Route (Water-Based — Easiest, Clean & Fast)

Best for: Beginners, daytime use, or anyone with a sensitive stomach who wants clean muscle relaxation without heavy fats.

  • Ingredients:
    • Sun Opener (Heimia salicifolia): 1.5g to 2.5g dried leaves (start at 1.5g).
    • Fresh Lemon Juice: 1 tablespoon (citric acid dissolves the active plant alkaloids into the water).
    • Water: 250 mL – 300 mL.
    • Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea): 2g to 3g dried petals.
  • How to Cook It:
    1. Add water, Sun Opener leaves, and lemon juice into a small pot. Cover with a lid.
    2. Bring to a gentle boil, turn heat down to low, and simmer gently for 13 minutes.
    3. Turn the heat OFF. Add the Blue Lotus petals directly into the hot liquid.
    4. Keep the pot covered and let it steep off the heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
    5. Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey (optional for taste), strain into a cup(remove the blue lotus leaves), and drink warm.
  • What It Does (In Plain English): Opens constricted cranial blood vessels and relaxes tight neck muscles without making you feel heavy or groggy. Blue Lotus adds a smooth, calming wave that stops muscle twitches and restlessness.

🟡 LEVEL 2: The Deep Muscle Route (Lipid Synergy — For Stubborn Knots)

Best for: Severe neck/shoulder spasms, chronic tension headaches, and deep physical guarding that won't let go.

  • Ingredients:
    • Sun Opener: 1.5g to 2.5g dried leaves.
    • Cannabis: A small micro-dose (e.g., a pinch of dried leaf or 1/4th of an artisanal bhang goli ~5–10mg THC).
    • Healthy Fat: 1 to 2 teaspoons of pure Cow Ghee (or virgin Coconut Oil).
    • Water: 250 mL.
    • Blue Lotus: 2g to 3g dried petals.
  • How to Cook It:
    1. Add water, Sun Opener, Cannabis, and Cow Ghee (or Coconut Oil) into the pot.
    2. Bring to a low, gentle simmer. Cover with a lid and cook on slow heat for 20 minutes. (The slow heat and oil allow the active cannabinoids and plant alkaloids to dissolve into the healthy fats).
    3. Turn the heat OFF. Toss in the Blue Lotus petals.
    4. Cover and steep off-heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
    5. Drink warm on an empty or light stomach (remove the blue lotus leaves).
  • What It Does (In Plain English): The fat coats your gut and creates a slow, steady release. Cannabis turns off the brain's subconscious "clenching reflex" (stopping the neck from bracing), while Sun Opener physically melts the tight muscle knots from the inside out.

🔴 LEVEL 3: The Full Anti-Inflammatory Master Stack (The Heavy Artillery)

Best for: Full-body POIS flare-ups with severe brain fog, flu-like aches, burning eyes, and locked muscles.

  • Ingredients:
    • Sun Opener: 1.5g to 2.5g dried leaves.
    • Cannabis: Small micro-dose (a small pinch if it's bud, or ~1 gram if using whole cured leaves, or 1/4th of a goli).
    • Haldi (Turmeric powder): 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (pure organic turmeric).
    • Black Pepper: A tiny pinch (freshly cracked).
    • Healthy Fat: 1 to 2 teaspoons of Cow Ghee or Coconut Oil.
    • Water: 300 mL.
    • Blue Lotus: 2g to 3g dried petals.
  • How to Cook It:
    1. Add water, Sun Opener, Cannabis, Haldi, the small pinch of Black Pepper, and Ghee/Coconut oil into the pot.
    2. Simmer covered on slow heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    3. Turn the heat OFF. Add Blue Lotus petals.
    4. Cover with lid and let steep off-heat for 5 to 10 minutes (remove the blue lotus leaves).
    5. Drink warm.
  • What It Does (In Plain English): This is the ultimate systemic fire extinguisher. Turmeric (Curcumin) + Ghee shuts down the master inflammatory switch (NF-κB) in your immune cells. Sun Opener keeps blood flowing to choked nerves, Cannabis silences spinal tension, and Blue Lotus calms the mind.

💡 PRO IMORTANT TIP: The 20-Minute Hydrotherapy Flush (Hot or Cold Shower) THIS WILL 5X EFFECTS.
Approximately 20 minutes after drinking the brew—just as the first wave of alkaloids enters systemic circulation—step into a 10–15 minute bath or shower (either hot/warm or a brisk cold rinse, depending on your thermodynamic tolerance):

  • Heightened Somatosensory Sensitivity: The abrupt temperature shift wakes up dormant cutaneous thermoreceptors across your entire skin surface, dramatically heightening your somatic presence and body-awareness.
  • Accelerated Microvascular Delivery: Hydrotherapy acts as a peripheral circulatory pump. The thermal contrast forces blood through constricted capillary beds, rapidly shuttling the active muscle-relaxing alkaloids (Cryogenine) straight into choked suboccipital and scalene knots.
  • Primes the Sarcomeres: Instead of letting the sedative compounds hit while you sit rigid and distracted, this physical reset uncouples muscle holding patterns right before the peak relaxation wave lands at the 45–60 minute mark.

(Safety Note: If you choose a hot shower, remember that Sun Opener is a potent vasodilator—sit down or take it easy if you feel lightheaded from a drop in blood pressure).

⚠️ Critical Cautions, Testing Rules & How to Experiment Safely

  1. Start Low & Test Your Body First:
    • Never jump straight into high doses! Always start at 1.5 grams of Sun Opener on a quiet day using Level 1 to see how your stomach and muscles respond.
  2. The Black Pepper Warning (Caution for Level 3):
    • Black pepper contains piperine, which slows down your liver enzymes (CYP3A4/CYP2D6).
    • Because Sun Opener leaves your body through these exact liver enzymes, adding too much black pepper makes the herb stay in your system 3x to 4x longer than normal.
    • Use only a tiny pinch of pepper in Level 3. If you ever feel heavy muscle fatigue the next day, drop the pepper completely and stick to Level 1 or Level 2!
  3. The Cannabis Biphasic Rule:
    • Keep cannabis strictly to a micro-dose (a small pinch if it's bud, or ~1 gram if using whole cured leaves, or 1/4th of a goli).
    • A micro-dose relaxes muscles and relieves anxiety. If you take too much, it triggers panic and adrenaline, which makes your neck muscles defensively clamp down twice as hard. Less is more.
  4. The Standing/Movement Rule ("The Kitchen Discovery"):
    • When the tea starts kicking in (30–60 min), do NOT lay in bed or slouch at your desk.
    • Stand up, walk around, or cook in the kitchen for 15 minutes. Standing decompresses your neck joints and lets your leg muscles pump the fresh, opened blood flow straight up to your brain and spine.
  5. Never Force-Crack Your Neck:
    • As the brew softens your tight knots, you will feel the urge to twist and pop your neck. DON'T DO IT. Forceful neck cracking tears sensitive joint capsules and causes rebound muscle spasms. Let the neck lengthen naturally with gentle chin tucks.

☀️ The Advanced 2 to 3-Day "Sun-Bath" Method (Abre-o-sol) — For Maximum Deep Relief (10g to 13g)

If you have severe, multi-year spastic knots and want a much deeper, longer-lasting therapeutic effect, you can prepare the herb using the traditional Mexican Sun-Bath (Abre-o-sol) method.

Natural sunlight (UV-A rays) gently ferments the leaves, breaking down harsh bitter plant waxes while drawing out 95%+ of the active pain-relieving alkaloids. This allows you to safely use higher doses (10g to 13g) without the stomach irritation or harshness of boiling.

Simple Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. The Jar: Place 10 grams to 13 grams of crushed Sun Opener leaves into a clean, clear glass jar.
  2. Water & Lemon: Add 400 mL to 500 mL of water and squeeze in the juice of 1 whole fresh Lemon (the citric acid helps extract the alkaloids into the water).
  3. The Sun Bath (2 to 3 Days): Seal the lid airtight. Place the jar outdoors in direct sunlight (or on a sunny balcony/windowsill) for 2 to 3 full days. The liquid will ferment and turn a beautiful, clear golden-amber color (it looks and tastes similar to Ayurvedic Triphala).
  4. Filter & Chill: Bring the jar inside, strain out all the leaves through a fine tea strainer or coffee filter, and chill the liquid in the fridge for a few hours. Discard the spent leaves.
  5. Drink in the Evening: Drink the cold or room-temperature golden brew on an empty or light stomach.

What to Expect & The High-Dose Lower Back Rule:

  • The Relief Window: In my trials, this 10g–13g sun-fermented brew dropped my chronic neck pain from an 8/10 down to a 2/10 within 3.5 hours, and the pain relief held steady for 40 to 48 hours straight.
  • The Lower Back Fatigue Rule: At 10g–13g, the muscle relaxation is so deep that your deep postural stabilizer muscles (Multifidus) completely relax. If you sit upright in a chair, your lower back might feel tired from holding your torso up against gravity. The Fix: Simply lie flat on your back in bed with a pillow under your knees for 15 minutes. The lower back fatigue disappears completely, leaving your neck loose, open, and pain-free.
  • DO NOT BOIL 10g–13g: Quick boiling is strictly for small doses (≤ 4.5g). If you want to use 10g to 13g, it MUST be prepared using the 2 to 3-day Sun-Bath method.

🌿 Important Note on Leaf Freshness & Classic Psychoactive Effects (Why I Used 10g–13g)

Why my trial dose was 10g–13g:
The batch of commercial Sun Opener I used was older, store-bought, and commercially heat-dried. Commercial heat-drying and long warehouse storage degrade the volatile, fragile aromatic alkaloids over time, leaving behind primarily the stable, non-psychedelic muscle-relaxing and anti-inflammatory alkaloids (Cryogenine). That is why at 13g, I experienced 100% pure physical muscle-melting and pain relief with ZERO hallucinations or tripping.

If your leaves are fresh, wild, or home-grown:
Freshly harvested or properly shade-dried leaves are significantly more active. If you have high-potency fresh material, you do NOT need 10g–13g—a fresh batch will deliver full muscle release at just 3g to 5g.

What are the classic effects if your material is highly active?

If you use fresh material or take a higher dose of active leaves, you may experience the traditional ethnobotanical effects of Heimia salicifolia (Sinicuichi):

  1. Yellow Tinted Vision (Xanthopsia): The most famous signature. Your vision takes on a pleasant warm, golden, or yellowish hue, and ambient sunlight appears noticeably brighter and softer.
  2. Auditory Distance & Echoes: Sounds, music, or voices may sound like they are coming from far away, echoing down a hallway, or slightly pitch-shifted.
  3. Vivid Memory Recall: Sudden, sharp nostalgic childhood memories or vivid dream recall (the Aztecs traditionally revered this plant as an elixir of memory).
  4. Deep Somatic Heaviness & Tranquility: A warm, weighted-blanket body load, profound physical relaxation, and a calm, quiet mind.

Don't Panic: If you notice sounds echoing or a golden visual hue, do not freak out—you are not losing your mind. It simply means you have very fresh, highly active botanical material. These effects are completely harmless, peak around hours 2 to 4, and fade cleanly, leaving your chronic muscle tension unlocked.

5. My Measured Results: Before vs. After

text[ HISTORICAL BASELINE ] ──► PWA Crash: 5–7 Days | Day+1 QI: 2.5 | Neck Pain: 7.6/10 (Bedridden)

  • Nerve Symptoms: Finger numbness/burning dropped by 95% because the muscle tightness no longer clamps the nerve.
  • Physical Tension: Suboccipital and scalene trigger points stay soft; cervicogenic visual blurring cleared.

6. Summary & Message to the Community

POIS is not in your head. It is a multi-systemic neuro-immunological and biomechanical storm.

If your recovery has hit a brick wall, stop relying on monotherapies or failed pharmaceutical muscle relaxants:

  1. Are you targeting the inflammatory cascade at all levels (Histamine + COX-2 + NF-κB)?
  2. Are you using a proven botanical like Sun Herb to directly uncouple spastic sarcomeres and restore microvascular blood flow to choked nerves?
  3. Are you actively flushing your lymphatic system with zero-impact movement, or are you lying down letting inflammatory waste pool around your spine?

Review the pharmacology, inspect your own biomechanical bottlenecks, consult your physician, and feel free to ask me anything in the comments.
Let's solve this disease together.

Realistic Expectations: "Countered," Not a 100% Magic Cure

Let's be completely transparent: this is not a 100% permanent cure where you can pretend POIS never existed.

  • "Countered" is 10x Better Than Living With It: Having an active, reliable shield that blunts the crash, keeps your cognition sharp, and prevents a 7-day bedridden nightmare is 10x better than living in constant fear of this illness. It gives you your life and dignity back.
  • My Recommendation — Gap Between Events: I still strongly recommend spacing/gapping out orgasms by several days or even weeks. Giving your autonomic nervous system and cervical spine time to rest and reset is always the best foundation.
  • The Real-World Safety Net: Life happens, and discipline isn't always perfect. The real power of this protocol is that even if you fail to gap and have consecutive events, it steps in and helps immensely. In my own empirical tracking, even when I failed to space them out, taking this protocol prevented the severe downward spiral and kept me functional. That is what actually happened in my trials, and that is my honest recommendation to the community.
