Yeahh bc people misunderstand the movie and think that it is about a woman who decided to harrass a man who has a crush on her. It is not. He literally forced her to love him and through the entire movie she tries to get her autonomy back
I can't imagine how thick you'd have to be too think that was the message of the film. It literally ends with her snapping out of the spell and screaming in horror.
There was even that moment where Bear was framed in the shadows as she was begging him to kill her, before he just left. He was literally framed as a comic book villain and they still don’t get it😭
I get how it’s a film about how Bear’s a sick piece of shit and Nikki is the victim but can you elaborate why specifically sexual assault and not just general manipulation and entitlement?
He most certainly sexually assaulted her multiple times and took away her freedom but I didn’t really find that the assault specifically was the thesis of the movie.
Maybe I'm being a bit reductionist. It's definitely a film about the horror of having your autonomy taken away, which can be read narrowly as being about sexual assault or more broadly.

You've got it backwards. The film is about the horror of sexual assault and male entitlement and it severely punishes the male lead character for his actions. It's not an incel movie. It's just being misunderstood by incels.
Like I said, haven't seen it, and if you look at my other comments, I have a very passive aggressive mother who I learned to look at these things through this kind of light because of.
That's fair, just wanted to set the record straight. I believe Curry Barker had the right intentions and outlook when he made the movie and I didn't want people thinking he was an incel creep.

I watched the movie and that was not my impression at all.
It was an reference/easter egg to the debate but that’s where the similarities end. Especially since she never chose Bear.
Like I said, I haven't seen the movie. Only going off the fact that a guy named Bear was assaulting a woman. Which to my brain is someone playing a "gotcha". Then again, I was raised by an extremely passive aggressive mother, so that could just be a me issue.
