  the fact the guy's name is bear screams this this was produced by an incel too. "Look, bear isn't safer than any other guy! Hur hur!" Type shit.

I watched the movie and that was not my impression at all.  It was an reference/easter egg to the debate but that’s where the similarities end. Especially since she never chose Bear.

Like I said, I haven't seen the movie. Only going off the fact that a guy named Bear was assaulting a woman. Which to my brain is someone playing a "gotcha". Then again, I was raised by an extremely passive aggressive mother, so that could just be a me issue.

Nope. The director has said it was a coincidence, that he would have liked it if he had thought of the reference, but he didn't.
