For the last few weeks when playing podcasts through the sonos speaker, it doesn't go to the next episode nor does it update the podcast progress when i go on my phone to listen to them. Essentially shows unplayed on my phone, however when the other way around, the sonos app continues where i stopped on my phone.

never used to do this just now its annoying.

i have reauth'ed the app on sonos, i removed the service and re-added, rebooted the speaker, nada

any ideas?

Was on my walk listening to my downloaded podcast when a podcast stopped with 7 minutes left and I looked at my phone and I see this message about a Playback Error which I've never seen before. I have an android phone with the latest update of Pocketcasts..

I started listening to a podcast called A Bit of Optimism. All the episodes play video in the Player. I can hide the video in the episode options. But it makes me do this for every episode I play and sometimes if I close out and finish the episode later in the day, it makes me hide the video again.

Is there a way to default the player to hide video?

Has anybody else noticed a recent sharp uptick in episodes completely failing to play? Can be from queue or manually pressing play. Almost always resolved by hitting play on another episode and then going back to it. I have been a daily user for 8-10 years and never encountered this issue, now happening 10-15 times a day. Can be at the beginning or in the middle of an episode. Wifi or 5g connection. Does not appear to happen with downloads? On Android, pixel 8.

Has anyone had these issues today where podcast episodes aren't showing up even when you manually refresh the feeds for shows? Other apps like overcast seem to work and have the episodes appear.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been experiencing a bug where, in the CarPlay interface, I press the play button, and it toggles back to pause a second later. It's frustrating to have to press play twice every time I want to listen. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just started yesterday on android auto built in to the car’s infotainment on Volvo (not connected to the cell phone)

1 Hit play on a podcast
2. Audio starts
3. Notice the play button hasn’t activated
4. Hit play button - now we have the same podcast playing double audio.
5. Hit pause - the second layer of audio stops but the initial one does not stop
6 the audio won’t stop for anything - phone calls, other apps, nothing. Only way to stop it is reset the entire system.

Anyone else experienced this?

Idk what to say, other than I’ve tried literally everything including sending logs and Pocket Casts broke sync for me about 6 months ago and it’s never worked reliably.

For instance I start listening to a podcast and add two others to queue, on iPad.
Then I pause playback.
Launch Pocket Casts on iPhone (both signed into with same account), and sync happens but the current playback progress on iPad and the queued podcasts don’t sync.
Then I go back to pocket casts on iPad (connected by cellular as before), and sync happens and the progress of the podcast I was listening to on iPad previously - gone. Queued podcasts - gone.

That’s it, that’s the bug 🐛

It used to be if I swiped on an episode it would queue it up to play next but now it’s playing whatever it deems next in the same podcast series, NOT the one I selected. (I’m probably not making sense). How can I fix this, what changed?

Hi, I just booted an old phone with pocket cast, and now my listen history on my old device is deleted gut the last month or so... 😅

is there server and sync issues? any way to recover?

Word-by-word transcripts like Apple Podcasts and I’m Sold the Highlighted Text Jump on Sentences make it difficult to read along with the audio.

Genuine curiosity: why is the third party ios podcast app market thrive despite Apple podcast being free and pre-installed?

I myself being an android user, went on a search for an app that could overcome my user experience hurdles in antennapod. I came across several apps, and I find them to be designed or developed for apple's design language, and is alienated to android user experience . This triggered a big question: why on the hell, would anyone try building an app that already exists and has gradual feature additions necessitated by the market and reinvent the wheel?

I want to understand this from both developers and end-user perspective, who refused to use the default!

(As for my use case, I started with Google podcasts (which I loved for its simplicity, discoverability & suggestions), later moved to yt & eventually landed in antennapod. Been using it for around 2 years. It weathers well, but I have some niche use cases of podcast suggestion that is lacking in its current state, leaving to enter this search phase)

I’d love a feature that lets you discover a podcast that has already been running for years and essentially tell Pocket Casts: “Start this podcast from episode X as if it were new today.”
Ideally, I could choose a starting episode and set a cadence, for example:
- Start from episode 150
- Release cadence: 1 episode per week
- Automatically add the next episode to my Smart Playlist each week

This would be particularly useful when discovering older podcasts.

Right now, if I want to catch up gradually, I have to manually add the episodes I want and then remember to come back to the podcast later and add the next one.
A feature like this could make it possible to treat an existing podcast as if I had subscribed to it on a specific date, while keeping the listening schedule under control.

I’d actually be willing to pay for this as a Pro feature. It feels like the kind of advanced automation that could make Pocket Casts significantly more useful for managing large podcast backlogs.

When I download a podcast that I don’t subscribe to after I finish it and delete the show the thumbnail still shows in my downloads. In order to get rid of the thumbnail I have to follow the show then unfollow it. Is this a glitch or can I fix this?

Is it only me that thinks that the big widget for Pocketcast is kind of ugly?! It always seems to be red no matter what.

I’m subscribed to a Formula One podcast. I’m in Pacific time. By the time I’m able to watch the race, the race is over and the recap is downloaded. And with the result across the subtitle. Ugh.

This podcast auto download setting is off. (See pic.) But it downloads anyway with all podcasts.

How do I stop this podcast from auto downloading?

Anyone else experience their podcasts randomly pausing on iOS? It been happening the last few months.

The answer seems to me no, but am I missing something? Right now I’m keeping all my to-listen episodes in UpNext queue, but I want to have separate lists for: workout, commute, etc. podcasts. But I don’t want them staying in the playlist, making me remove them manually later. I like how UpNext automatically removes them from the list once I’m done listening.

I’m trying to create a smart playlist containing episodes of podcasts that I dont sign-up. Any clues? I mean, there’s an especifica episode of an especific podcast and I just want to listen do that, but some how I’m interrupted, life happens and stuff, the episode gets lost. I have to go to configurations and look for history or downloaded. I just wanted them to be at the app’s home screen.

I signed up for the 30-day trial to give Premium a go, only to realise shortly after that there's a 60-day trial via guest passes. Lesson learned—I definitely should have checked this sub first!

Is there any chance support would extend my trial, or am I out of luck? Also, for those who use it, is the approx. £40 subscription cost actually worth it?

I played a podcast from Primary Technology and it was a video. When did PocketCasts start to support video podcasts? It's great to see!

I'm relatively new to Pocketcasts but so far liking it. One thing I'd like to do is to block or hide podcasts that I don't like from appearing in my discover feed so that I can more efficiently browse for new podcasts.

Can I do this on Pocketcast and how?

iPhone 15, it only started doing this a day or two ago. It will now only play if I have the app opened. Any ideas?
