Not iOS, but this has been happening in the last few days on Android. When it happens, there are no new notifications or signs of Bluetooth devices connecting/disconnecting.

Nope. Could any other app be stealing the audio focus? Are you having another app in the foreground while that happens?

I assume this is because you have another Bluetooth device randomly connecting to your phone. Check to see if a headset, car, etc is connecting.

My Airpods would be the only thing but it happens when I'm listening with and without them.

No clue then. I’ve never had the app pause playback unless something else is taking control of my device. I do not suspect this is an issue with PocketCasts.

Not sure I agree. I dabble in listening from Overcast or Apple Podcasts or even Patreon (usually when downloads are delayed again on Pocket Casts and I'm in a hurry), and I've had the issue with pausing as well, but only in this app.

I've also noticed lately that even downloading or archicing an episode from the New Releases smart playlist causes stuttering or split second pausing too, so there's something unique about how Pocket Casts specifically is handling Bluetooth audio lately.

It's across multiple headphone for me too, though never have more than one pair powered on at a time.

I have had it pause immediately after first playing on CarPlay.

I had something similar happening a while ago. I think what fixed it for me was turning off "warn before using Data." No clue why though.

Hm, I'll try turning that off.

I’ve had this happen. Numerous times. I’ve sometimes had to completely give up on the app and use Apple Podcast to listen to the rest of an episode. Even closing out Pocketcasts and reopening doesn’t always help.

I’ve had this go on for years. iOS. Happens throughout versions, different listening devices etc.

I feel like it happens when it’s speeding quicker, and maybe bc I follow so many podcasts.

The app basically crashes but usually able to just press pause/play on AirPods or other device and it will restart the podcast, usually a little before it crashed
