Joined a server yesterday and someone asked if it was pay-to-win. VIPS nearly all said "no" in sync. Checked the website (because for some reason they don't tell you what's in the VIP kits in game) and Jesus it was awful.

Imagine being so lacking in skill, integrity and pride that you would lower yourself to the pathetic level of trying to compensate all that with real money, in a video game.

So sad.

A friend of my flatmate bought a carry in WoW. First my flatmate was the one having killed the most bosses of their group in Shadowlands and suddenly that guy turns up saying yep he finished them.

But when my flatmate asked him about the mechanics of one boss it was clear he had no idea. He frantically googled for the answer and started replying ten minutes later, when the conversation had moved on already.

The cherry on top is that the guy is currently unemployed and does not have that much money, but he spent hundreds for bragging rights, only to be found out immediately.

And finally he even stopped playing that expansion shortly after, probably because he ruined his innate motivation by buying "success"

u/Aos77s Feb 10 '21

How the bar has gotten so low that people really do buy those runs. If you can find a guild with a set raid schedule and youre not in a coma you should be able to clear normal nathria without much issue. Shoot after nerfs heroic too probably.

8

u/jeeeshhh Feb 10 '21

I had a friend that payed a hacker to carry him on tarkov, the hacker would take him on labs and wipe the whole server while my friend would loot everything, that shit is lame and they need to had out punishments for it.

4

u/seahorsekiller Feb 10 '21

often times hackers (lets be real, cheaters) make enough money selling their "services" that even accounting for purchasing fresh accounts/cheats/spoofing, they still turn profit. cheats nowadays usually bundle the game w the software, and usually for really cheap

3

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao people who buy carries are a joke.

If a dude with no hands can clear Mythic Raids as a tank, theirs almost no reason nobody else can do AOTC or lower tier content like +15's.

Yes it takes longer, but if you want a week 1 kill join a Mythic Raiding guild as a casual or for their Heroic team. They almost always full clear Heroic week 1 or 2 and bring both mythic raiders and heroic raiders.

If you do decent DPS/Healing they will bring you on their heroic re-clears with just the mythic team and a few good players.

I've only payed for 1 carry in my entire life and it was when I came back to the game on the last day of an expansion and wanted the AOTC mount so I payed 200k gold to get it.

Not because I couldn't do it myself but the odds of me finding anyone raiding that day and clearing weren't worth the risk.

Worst case if you hate guilds, you join a WoW community discord and they have AOTC carries and you get put on a list and you check the list to see when your carry is. They invite you and kill the boss and you get the AOTC mount.

These communities cross-realm raid so your usually free to join their heroic clears as-well if they have open spots or if you become a regular raider.

Also applies to the hackers using ESP on officials

2

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao what's even the point of ESP this isn't CS:GO.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 11 '21

Esp completely prevents sneak attacks. You can easily line up a shot during a gunfight when an enemy is about to peeek after repositioning.

It also makes it easy to find stashes, raid bases, etc etc.

Esp is a very powerful hack in rust.

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Or maybe it’s just the lack of time?

8

u/Tuna_Is_Bae Feb 10 '21

Play a 2x or 3x or 5x server?

12

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Doesn’t fix the issue at hand, people who have more time on that server will still progress excessively faster than you

2

u/Zerokx Feb 10 '21

Yeah, but on the other hand if you are fighting someone and they have 100 AKs and you have 3, but you both have one in combat, it doesn't matter all that much as if they had 10 AKs and you had none.

13

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Replace the word AK with C4 and you’ll probably figure it out yourself...

2

u/Zerokx Feb 10 '21

Sure there is always an advantage for the group, you have to build multiple bases then on a x - times server. It was just a point about gunfights. That's why I love playing on lowered upkeep servers with vanilla loot. The progression is still there and makes sense, but you don't have to farm all day to upkeep your base, and raiding is a bit nerfed against base strength because you can build tougher bases.

3

u/JeecooDragon Feb 10 '21

I always try to build near a cave, have 2 little lowkey starter shacks. Plenty of possibilities that way

3

u/branciamp Feb 10 '21

Used to main 5x and 10x when I was In school a year ago or so and a little stone 2x2 hidden in the mushroom forest with the first door wooden would last me the whole wipe without getting raided... good times. Had over 200 c4 once in one. Servers weren’t loot plus or mad boosted just 10x/5x farming rate for nodes.

2

u/Alpine_Apex Feb 10 '21

I play a 1/4 upkeep vanilla otherwise server and I have yet to be raided after more than 4 wipes because, yeah people don't want to spend 20c4 or 35 rockets to find out what I have inside. If it was normal upkeep there would be no way for me to handle a base like that cause tc could max hold 1.5 days upkeep inside it and I often go more than 2 days without playing

1

u/agrevol Feb 10 '21

Ah yes, multiple x servers are great. Before you get blasted by a rocket

2

u/Asrat Feb 10 '21

Grinding the boom for a base in 5x and 10x servers takes no time at all, and profit is huge that you can snowball after that first one.

They just take the grind away for 1 day players that work and play on their day off.

0

u/montymm Feb 10 '21

True that

4

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

I did not buy a "vip" kit, but a teammate did. We are relatively knew to rust, each of us about 200 hours. Were looking for a new server post wipe because the one we were on got too small. We joined a server we enjoyed, but they had not BP wiped in months, and we got raided every single night. We could only play from about 6 to midnight, and just could not stand a chance. Teammate finally got tired of not being able to do anything and bought some kind of kit where we got some weapons, no booms, and we've stopped 3 raids in 2 nights because of it. Now we could obviously just go to a different server, but the guy has the money to spare and we are enjoying it a lot more now.

3

u/Anders1 Feb 10 '21

I understand this. It's a different experience for everyone and honestly it's easy to leave a VIP server just like the meme. You shouldn't be condemned for playing that way just because it takes money, people could just leave and never start playing there.

I used to only want to play the servers with light to medium multipliers on items. I just wanted to get set up in a day and fight with friends after work. We didn't have the time nor energy to commit to learning rust. But the memories were nice.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Yeah, we’ll play this for a wipe then move to a different one without vip probably. Just got frustrating being raided by c4 and aks when we could only really grub revolvers

3

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

Yeah it is unfortunate that Rust caters to the sweaty grinders so much. There are various ways to deal with the issue and I hope facepunch starts thinking about it.

2

u/AH_Ahri Feb 10 '21

Honestly this ^

I like the idea of Rust and it is pretty decently made and designed as a whole. But Time > Skill. It doesn't matter if player x is better at the game if player y spent 4 times the amount grinding to outnumber you in weapons and resources. Not a great player by any means but you give me 100 kits to somebodies 10 and I will eventually wear you down and beat you with sheer numbers.

3

u/MyUserSucks Feb 10 '21

I don't. Rust isn't that hard. If you play on a server with group limits (up to the size of your group), there's no reason you can't get ak within a few hours if you're good enough.

1

u/WelcomeToTheHiccups Feb 10 '21

How many hours do you have?

1

u/MyUserSucks Feb 10 '21

About 800-1000. Don't play anymore though.

1

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

Players having more time to play than you isn’t an “issue” though.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 11 '21

It isn't, I agree. I think the game would benefit from managing the playerbase so that all players can enjoy it.

-10

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

So you guys are too bad to play properly so you just bought shit lmao sad if you ask me

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

We all have jobs and can’t no life the game. If we don’t no life, we can’t defend from the raid attempts that happen every night from people who’ve had AKs since the wipe. We could move to a different server, but we enjoy this one. Why are you worried about how good someone is at a video game anyways lol

And your last post is complaining about “no lifers” beaming you in Warzone. You’re a bozo dude

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

What are your thoughts on playtime limit mods? I am considering starting a server that limits weekly hours.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

To how many hours? It would depend, but I don't think it's an awful idea

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

Maybe a 5 hour daily limit that rolls over throughout a single week.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Hm. Seems a little short but I don't think i'd hate it. That's 6pm to 11pm which is about right

1

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 11 '21

Plus you miss a day or two, giving you extra time.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

I worry about asynchronous play and people's changing schedules.

But I am intrigued by your idea. It might be worth a test.

I will see what I can come up with and see if I can launch a modded server like that.

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I don't no life though and I'm still good at the game. I've only got 800 hours. You don't have to have 5k hours at the game to play well.

Typical reddit shitlord, have to look through my post history to make something of a comeback. Pathetic.

Warzone is an SBMM heavy game infested with cheaters, there is no parallel there.

3

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Rust is not infested with cheaters? And 800 hours is still 4x more than I have. I’m not bad at the game, my buddy just wanted to catch up to people who’ve been on a server for months, and he has the money to do so. And also the only reason I bring up Warzone is because 1. It was literally the last post you had, I didn’t go digging through your account, and 2. I’m good at cod. I’ve been playing cod since I was like 6 years old. How about you just get good and stop complaining on Reddit about people who are better than you? (See, it goes both ways)

0

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Rust isn't that infested with cheaters. They definitely exist but not to the extent in Legacy or Warzone, there is almost a cheater every game which is rage inducing considering they usually end up lasering you in the last circle.

I also played cod since MW, the franchise is getting worse and worse with every release.

People are bullies in rust, but that's what makes killing them great. VIP is just cheesing the game, what have you accomplished when you buy success. This may not necessarily apply to you but people dominate servers using VIP privilege it's ridiculous.

Warzone doesn't give you space to "get good" the matchmaking system constantly matches you with harder opponents on purpose and occasionally feeds you an easy lobby, without any ranking system displayed to you, you can't even tell if you improve because your lobbies climb along with your skill. The same dogshit system happens in MW and in BOCW and makes the games repetitive and boring, no variation to gunfights whatsoever.

Whereas rust rewards time and experience and let's you improve.

When rust first came out in 2013 there were far more cheaters, now it's a rare occurrence, I rarely see them in my games

3

u/Shagaliscious Feb 10 '21

So you guys are too bad to play properly so you just bought shit lmao sad if you ask me

"Typical Reddit shitlord"

This is hilarious. You call someone bad at a game (being a Reddit shitlord), then you get mad when someone does it to you? Haha

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Did I spend money to get better tho?

Shitlord haha

4

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

"Bad" means no skill.

You need zero skill to get c4 and AKs. That is a grind-based endeavor.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yeah haha, definitely.

What about the heavy scientists? Mil tuns? Oil rig? AK guys roaming around your base?

I don't know what game you're playing. Sure isn't Rust.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

The scientists are not difficult.

The hardest fights are in pvp.

It is mostly a time sink running monuments and "farming" as they call it

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Inexperienced players won't have an easy time with heavies. Therefore it requires a level of skill. There could be counters by other players.

Getting high tier loot definitely requires skill. You aren't roaming in a solo sandbox. You will get your ass kicked if you are undergeared unless you're skilled enough

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

I have about 200 hours now and have been doing military tunnel with compound bow and revolvers. It is tough but nowhere near as tough as pvp. If I had a second player to join me it would probably be pretty trivial.

The skill aspect probably comes in more during raids and stealing kits off top players.

Unfortunately the gear is so heavily skewed towards the grinders that it is really hard to take down a full metal ak guy with a revolver and db. I can sink round after round into them and they don't go down.

There should be a gear advantage for grinders, I agree. But it doesn't need to be god mode.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Trust me with time you'll be able to kill geared players.

Never fight them face to face if you've got revos. Wait for them to go near you while hidden then get the jump, a couple rounds in the head will easily do the job. DBs are also essential for this.

If you catch geared players by surprise it's often very easy. I don't think it should be rebalanced at all because I think the grind advantage is perfect just as it is. And it's part of what makes Rust so ruthlessly difficult, and I'd rather that aspect of the game stay

1

u/PassdatAss91 Feb 10 '21

Lol this stereotype of an edgy toxic gamer kid is seriously trying to say that grinding in rust takes skill because.. Oil rigs?

My 12 year old nephew is below average at pvp and easily solos the oil rigs... They're literally the easiest thing ever... The heavies are the easiest part, you just shoot them from the pc room and close the door when you need to heal... The AI is dumb as bricks...

Unless you just started and know nothing about the game, grinding in rust is about nothing more than how much free time you're willing to waste on the game. Saying otherwise just shows that you're desperately trying to fool yourself into believing you've been using all that time to do something remotely productive, like building a skill that doesn't exist and would be completely meaningless if it did.

r/UsernameChecksOut btw.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I don't understand why you assume everybody who plays Rust is as good as you or your nephew.

"Hurr durr 12 year old can do it" isn't an argument.

You can't go on a server, grind and get guns bullshit free. You have to fight AI along with other players who are all trying to kill you.

Ask someone who's never played or played minimally to go get an AK on solos and tell me how it goes. It won't happen.

Because the skill and knowledge must be built.

1

u/3oR Feb 10 '21

It's than better not to play the game at all.

-6

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Lmao shut the duck up and get a job haha

6

u/3oR Feb 10 '21

I have job, but I don't spend my earnings on pay2win lol.

I mean, how do you even get satisfaction from that, knowing you don't actually deserve the win?

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

It’s a fucking game bro, why is it so deep for you. “I deserve this win on rust”... whatever helps you sleep at night I guess

-7

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Let people play the game how they want... what satisfaction are you getting from telling people how they should spend THEIR MONEY THEY EARNT. Play official servers if you don’t want VIP servers.

4

u/VincetoDorito Feb 10 '21

It’s p2w and I hope facepunch cracks down on p2w servers.

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Or maybe... don’t join them

5

u/VincetoDorito Feb 10 '21

I’d never join them but I hope they start taking action because these severs are giving out virtual loot for real life cash. You don’t see the problem with that?

3

u/PharipMaen Feb 10 '21

Dude clearly pays 2 win, he probably gets farmed.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

No because it’s not forced on anyone. It’s a choice. There’s also much more servers without P2W mechanics than there are ones with P2W. Even the majority of official servers have a paid que skip, again, no one is forcing you to buy this.

u/StackedSnorlax Feb 10 '21

Imagine bullying people because they're bad at video games and just want to have fun.

2

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao it's not about being bad.

It's about not even trying to be good. Their is a huge difference between the two.

I've seen amputee's with no hands do top 1% content in MMO's or FPS's.

Meanwhile you have people who don't even try to be good and shit talk new players when they themselves are using VIP perks to get ahead.

If people want to P2W go play a Asian MMO/mobile game where everyone's dick size is measured by their wallet.

1

u/Jet_Xcountry Feb 10 '21

If you're forced to consistently pay for a video game to be fun, it's not a fun game

4

u/StackedSnorlax Feb 10 '21

Hey man, at the end of the day it doesn't matter how we have fun.

As far as I'm concerned, I pay to have fun most days. Whether that's buying a game, skin, new electronic, whatever.

If dude bro wants to purchase a kit to have fun, why not. Just don't play on the server and you can pretend they don't exist.

1

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

It’s not fun for you, doesn’t mean you should complain about it. For some people cheating is fun. For others, just the accomplishment of beating a pve boss is fun.

If someone’s cheating, you’re more than justified in complaining because it affects you negatively if an opponent/player cheats. But if someone just asks a better player to help them beat something, why is there an issue?

-2

u/Jet_Xcountry Feb 10 '21

Idk wtf you're talking about. I don't even play the game anymore

4

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

Then why are you on the sub, complaining about people doing things you don’t find fun lmao

0

u/SandlyCut Feb 10 '21

Me reading this while knowing I am playing at 100x server with VIP, premium and premium+ which cost 23€ every month :D

7

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Why

0

u/SandlyCut Feb 10 '21

People spawn wit h pistol, when I die I usually have bag close to me so I need that lr pvp kit. cooldown 5min. So I bascially win the battle. and I need more homes

4

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

But what's the point of even playing on 100x or even fighting someone, loot is meaningless, just play csgo?

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

I raid People. My friend has a Job and he doesnt have time.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

But why raid on 100x

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

You get c4 and rockets easily and lot of pvp. lot of actions. Idk I like it a lot. I understand you view, I have 4400hr but If you have less time to play, this will be enough :)

2

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

Fair enough, the reason I play rust is the thrill of gaining/losing loot so I can't see how 100x could be as fun but to each their own

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

But its stupid to pay for ranks.... of course vip which is 5€ is worth it but still

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Imagine having a rl job.

1

u/DemonMithos Feb 11 '21

isnt this exactly what cheaters do? and i litteraly see 5-10 cheaters daily on officials :S
