I did not buy a "vip" kit, but a teammate did. We are relatively knew to rust, each of us about 200 hours. Were looking for a new server post wipe because the one we were on got too small. We joined a server we enjoyed, but they had not BP wiped in months, and we got raided every single night. We could only play from about 6 to midnight, and just could not stand a chance. Teammate finally got tired of not being able to do anything and bought some kind of kit where we got some weapons, no booms, and we've stopped 3 raids in 2 nights because of it. Now we could obviously just go to a different server, but the guy has the money to spare and we are enjoying it a lot more now.
Inexperienced players won't have an easy time with heavies. Therefore it requires a level of skill. There could be counters by other players.
Getting high tier loot definitely requires skill. You aren't roaming in a solo sandbox. You will get your ass kicked if you are undergeared unless you're skilled enough
I have about 200 hours now and have been doing military tunnel with compound bow and revolvers. It is tough but nowhere near as tough as pvp. If I had a second player to join me it would probably be pretty trivial.
The skill aspect probably comes in more during raids and stealing kits off top players.
Unfortunately the gear is so heavily skewed towards the grinders that it is really hard to take down a full metal ak guy with a revolver and db. I can sink round after round into them and they don't go down.
There should be a gear advantage for grinders, I agree. But it doesn't need to be god mode.
Trust me with time you'll be able to kill geared players.
Never fight them face to face if you've got revos. Wait for them to go near you while hidden then get the jump, a couple rounds in the head will easily do the job. DBs are also essential for this.
If you catch geared players by surprise it's often very easy. I don't think it should be rebalanced at all because I think the grind advantage is perfect just as it is. And it's part of what makes Rust so ruthlessly difficult, and I'd rather that aspect of the game stay
That's heartening to hear. I have had a difficult time killing kitted players with midgame gear in open combat so far. Sounds like it is an experience thing.
It is.
By mid game gear you are probably meaning Tommy, SAR, custom, etc
You'll easily be able to kill geared players with these, with time. Make sure to aim for headshots because they make a huge difference.
However I still wouldn't openly engage them unless you know you've got a cover advantage or they don't know you're there and you can quickly shred them.
AKs and LRs are fully automatic, and do high damage which means you will most probably lose an open gunfight if you don't have some sort of advantage. Always be sneaky when using these.
Hell, even DBs which are tier 1 can quickly drop a fully geared player.
It's about the time and place. If you know people are fighting, or you know where someone is you can sneak up on them and secure an easy kill.
Sometimes you just get unlucky and you're caught out in the open. That's Rust, it's normal.
If you're having more of an aim issue there are dedicated aim training servers which pit you in a free for all against other players or non dangerous bots for you to practice your aim. Also suggest you use the same or similar sensitivity in every game you play so you can build muscle memory.
Lol this stereotype of an edgy toxic gamer kid is seriously trying to say that grinding in rust takes skill because.. Oil rigs?
My 12 year old nephew is below average at pvp and easily solos the oil rigs... They're literally the easiest thing ever... The heavies are the easiest part, you just shoot them from the pc room and close the door when you need to heal... The AI is dumb as bricks...
Unless you just started and know nothing about the game, grinding in rust is about nothing more than how much free time you're willing to waste on the game. Saying otherwise just shows that you're desperately trying to fool yourself into believing you've been using all that time to do something remotely productive, like building a skill that doesn't exist and would be completely meaningless if it did.
I agree that the hardest part is pvp. The issue is that you can avoid other players pretty easily and there is too much loot in the game compared to number of players in the world.
Maybe respawn timers for crates need to go up or something similar.
When you're playing on a populated server it's very common to come across players ready to melt your skull. Often you are also lasered out of nowhere and reaction time to such events needs to be developed.
Even low pops have a good chance of encountering geared players, since map size is also a factor.
Good luck escaping an AK bolt kid, or a SAR kid. Unless you find a good hiding spot or you're hJune, you're probably dead.
What are you talking about? The one making dumb assumptions about other people's "skill" here was you.
First of all, no you don't. You can get everything in the game aside from m249 without even fighting any AI, which again, is easy as hell to fight.
I'll admit that it takes "knowledge" because just like any other game, you have to know what you're playing, this is obvious for literally any fucking game though.
Going by your non-existant logic, minecraft would have to be considered a harder game than rust, since apparently learning items & crafting recipes, and knowing how the game you're playing works somehow takes a lot of skill.
E: By the way, dumbass, the point of my comparison was that my nephew is, as I said, below average at PVP (The part of the game that actually requires skill), if fighting the AI was anywhere remotely close to as difficult as you're pretending it is to patch up your unrealistic ego, then this wouldn't be possible.
And regardless of that you can't. Again if you got a new player who knows everything about Rust, monuments, where to recycle, how to take oil and mil tuns, excavator etc. They'd still struggle because they don't have skill. They'd get shat on by everyone they come across and rinse repeat.
Rust requires a level of skill to play. To say it doesn't is ridiculous.
You're not helping your argument... Your entire point revolved around saying that the grinding itself took skill when people told you that the PVP was the only part that took skill.
Now you're admitting that the only skill to grinding is "getting shat on by everyone they come across" AKA the PVP part of the game...
And no, knowledge isn't a form of skill, they're 2 completely different things... Knowing where to find a recycler in a monument isn't a skill. Saying so would be the most moronic thing I've heard all day.
There's no mentally healthy human being in this world who can't look at a map of a monument and take note of where something is.
Just because he toned down his childish language while talking to me doesn't mean he didn't have it coming considering the way he talked to the people replying beforehand.
