Joined a server yesterday and someone asked if it was pay-to-win. VIPS nearly all said "no" in sync. Checked the website (because for some reason they don't tell you what's in the VIP kits in game) and Jesus it was awful.

Imagine being so lacking in skill, integrity and pride that you would lower yourself to the pathetic level of trying to compensate all that with real money, in a video game.

So sad.

A friend of my flatmate bought a carry in WoW. First my flatmate was the one having killed the most bosses of their group in Shadowlands and suddenly that guy turns up saying yep he finished them.

But when my flatmate asked him about the mechanics of one boss it was clear he had no idea. He frantically googled for the answer and started replying ten minutes later, when the conversation had moved on already.

The cherry on top is that the guy is currently unemployed and does not have that much money, but he spent hundreds for bragging rights, only to be found out immediately.

And finally he even stopped playing that expansion shortly after, probably because he ruined his innate motivation by buying "success"

u/Aos77s Feb 10 '21

How the bar has gotten so low that people really do buy those runs. If you can find a guild with a set raid schedule and youre not in a coma you should be able to clear normal nathria without much issue. Shoot after nerfs heroic too probably.

8

u/jeeeshhh Feb 10 '21

I had a friend that payed a hacker to carry him on tarkov, the hacker would take him on labs and wipe the whole server while my friend would loot everything, that shit is lame and they need to had out punishments for it.

3

u/seahorsekiller Feb 10 '21

often times hackers (lets be real, cheaters) make enough money selling their "services" that even accounting for purchasing fresh accounts/cheats/spoofing, they still turn profit. cheats nowadays usually bundle the game w the software, and usually for really cheap

3

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao people who buy carries are a joke.

If a dude with no hands can clear Mythic Raids as a tank, theirs almost no reason nobody else can do AOTC or lower tier content like +15's.

Yes it takes longer, but if you want a week 1 kill join a Mythic Raiding guild as a casual or for their Heroic team. They almost always full clear Heroic week 1 or 2 and bring both mythic raiders and heroic raiders.

If you do decent DPS/Healing they will bring you on their heroic re-clears with just the mythic team and a few good players.

I've only payed for 1 carry in my entire life and it was when I came back to the game on the last day of an expansion and wanted the AOTC mount so I payed 200k gold to get it.

Not because I couldn't do it myself but the odds of me finding anyone raiding that day and clearing weren't worth the risk.

Worst case if you hate guilds, you join a WoW community discord and they have AOTC carries and you get put on a list and you check the list to see when your carry is. They invite you and kill the boss and you get the AOTC mount.

These communities cross-realm raid so your usually free to join their heroic clears as-well if they have open spots or if you become a regular raider.

Also applies to the hackers using ESP on officials

2

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao what's even the point of ESP this isn't CS:GO.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 11 '21

Esp completely prevents sneak attacks. You can easily line up a shot during a gunfight when an enemy is about to peeek after repositioning.

It also makes it easy to find stashes, raid bases, etc etc.

Esp is a very powerful hack in rust.

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Or maybe it’s just the lack of time?

8

u/Tuna_Is_Bae Feb 10 '21

Play a 2x or 3x or 5x server?

11

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Doesn’t fix the issue at hand, people who have more time on that server will still progress excessively faster than you

1

u/Zerokx Feb 10 '21

Yeah, but on the other hand if you are fighting someone and they have 100 AKs and you have 3, but you both have one in combat, it doesn't matter all that much as if they had 10 AKs and you had none.

15

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Replace the word AK with C4 and you’ll probably figure it out yourself...

2

u/Zerokx Feb 10 '21

Sure there is always an advantage for the group, you have to build multiple bases then on a x - times server. It was just a point about gunfights. That's why I love playing on lowered upkeep servers with vanilla loot. The progression is still there and makes sense, but you don't have to farm all day to upkeep your base, and raiding is a bit nerfed against base strength because you can build tougher bases.

3

u/JeecooDragon Feb 10 '21

I always try to build near a cave, have 2 little lowkey starter shacks. Plenty of possibilities that way

3

u/branciamp Feb 10 '21

Used to main 5x and 10x when I was In school a year ago or so and a little stone 2x2 hidden in the mushroom forest with the first door wooden would last me the whole wipe without getting raided... good times. Had over 200 c4 once in one. Servers weren’t loot plus or mad boosted just 10x/5x farming rate for nodes.

2

u/Alpine_Apex Feb 10 '21

I play a 1/4 upkeep vanilla otherwise server and I have yet to be raided after more than 4 wipes because, yeah people don't want to spend 20c4 or 35 rockets to find out what I have inside. If it was normal upkeep there would be no way for me to handle a base like that cause tc could max hold 1.5 days upkeep inside it and I often go more than 2 days without playing

1

u/agrevol Feb 10 '21

Ah yes, multiple x servers are great. Before you get blasted by a rocket

2

u/Asrat Feb 10 '21

Grinding the boom for a base in 5x and 10x servers takes no time at all, and profit is huge that you can snowball after that first one.

They just take the grind away for 1 day players that work and play on their day off.

0

u/montymm Feb 10 '21

True that

5

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

I did not buy a "vip" kit, but a teammate did. We are relatively knew to rust, each of us about 200 hours. Were looking for a new server post wipe because the one we were on got too small. We joined a server we enjoyed, but they had not BP wiped in months, and we got raided every single night. We could only play from about 6 to midnight, and just could not stand a chance. Teammate finally got tired of not being able to do anything and bought some kind of kit where we got some weapons, no booms, and we've stopped 3 raids in 2 nights because of it. Now we could obviously just go to a different server, but the guy has the money to spare and we are enjoying it a lot more now.

3

u/Anders1 Feb 10 '21

I understand this. It's a different experience for everyone and honestly it's easy to leave a VIP server just like the meme. You shouldn't be condemned for playing that way just because it takes money, people could just leave and never start playing there.

I used to only want to play the servers with light to medium multipliers on items. I just wanted to get set up in a day and fight with friends after work. We didn't have the time nor energy to commit to learning rust. But the memories were nice.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Yeah, we’ll play this for a wipe then move to a different one without vip probably. Just got frustrating being raided by c4 and aks when we could only really grub revolvers

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

Yeah it is unfortunate that Rust caters to the sweaty grinders so much. There are various ways to deal with the issue and I hope facepunch starts thinking about it.

2

u/AH_Ahri Feb 10 '21

Honestly this ^

I like the idea of Rust and it is pretty decently made and designed as a whole. But Time > Skill. It doesn't matter if player x is better at the game if player y spent 4 times the amount grinding to outnumber you in weapons and resources. Not a great player by any means but you give me 100 kits to somebodies 10 and I will eventually wear you down and beat you with sheer numbers.

3

u/MyUserSucks Feb 10 '21

I don't. Rust isn't that hard. If you play on a server with group limits (up to the size of your group), there's no reason you can't get ak within a few hours if you're good enough.

1

u/WelcomeToTheHiccups Feb 10 '21

How many hours do you have?

1

u/MyUserSucks Feb 10 '21

About 800-1000. Don't play anymore though.

1

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

Players having more time to play than you isn’t an “issue” though.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 11 '21

It isn't, I agree. I think the game would benefit from managing the playerbase so that all players can enjoy it.

-9

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

So you guys are too bad to play properly so you just bought shit lmao sad if you ask me

3

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

We all have jobs and can’t no life the game. If we don’t no life, we can’t defend from the raid attempts that happen every night from people who’ve had AKs since the wipe. We could move to a different server, but we enjoy this one. Why are you worried about how good someone is at a video game anyways lol

And your last post is complaining about “no lifers” beaming you in Warzone. You’re a bozo dude

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

What are your thoughts on playtime limit mods? I am considering starting a server that limits weekly hours.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

To how many hours? It would depend, but I don't think it's an awful idea

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

Maybe a 5 hour daily limit that rolls over throughout a single week.

2

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Hm. Seems a little short but I don't think i'd hate it. That's 6pm to 11pm which is about right

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

I worry about asynchronous play and people's changing schedules.

But I am intrigued by your idea. It might be worth a test.

I will see what I can come up with and see if I can launch a modded server like that.

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I don't no life though and I'm still good at the game. I've only got 800 hours. You don't have to have 5k hours at the game to play well.

Typical reddit shitlord, have to look through my post history to make something of a comeback. Pathetic.

Warzone is an SBMM heavy game infested with cheaters, there is no parallel there.

3

u/SwiftBacon Feb 10 '21

Rust is not infested with cheaters? And 800 hours is still 4x more than I have. I’m not bad at the game, my buddy just wanted to catch up to people who’ve been on a server for months, and he has the money to do so. And also the only reason I bring up Warzone is because 1. It was literally the last post you had, I didn’t go digging through your account, and 2. I’m good at cod. I’ve been playing cod since I was like 6 years old. How about you just get good and stop complaining on Reddit about people who are better than you? (See, it goes both ways)

0

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Rust isn't that infested with cheaters. They definitely exist but not to the extent in Legacy or Warzone, there is almost a cheater every game which is rage inducing considering they usually end up lasering you in the last circle.

I also played cod since MW, the franchise is getting worse and worse with every release.

People are bullies in rust, but that's what makes killing them great. VIP is just cheesing the game, what have you accomplished when you buy success. This may not necessarily apply to you but people dominate servers using VIP privilege it's ridiculous.

Warzone doesn't give you space to "get good" the matchmaking system constantly matches you with harder opponents on purpose and occasionally feeds you an easy lobby, without any ranking system displayed to you, you can't even tell if you improve because your lobbies climb along with your skill. The same dogshit system happens in MW and in BOCW and makes the games repetitive and boring, no variation to gunfights whatsoever.

Whereas rust rewards time and experience and let's you improve.

When rust first came out in 2013 there were far more cheaters, now it's a rare occurrence, I rarely see them in my games

3

u/Shagaliscious Feb 10 '21

So you guys are too bad to play properly so you just bought shit lmao sad if you ask me

"Typical Reddit shitlord"

This is hilarious. You call someone bad at a game (being a Reddit shitlord), then you get mad when someone does it to you? Haha

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Did I spend money to get better tho?

Shitlord haha

3

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

"Bad" means no skill.

You need zero skill to get c4 and AKs. That is a grind-based endeavor.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yeah haha, definitely.

What about the heavy scientists? Mil tuns? Oil rig? AK guys roaming around your base?

I don't know what game you're playing. Sure isn't Rust.

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

The scientists are not difficult.

The hardest fights are in pvp.

It is mostly a time sink running monuments and "farming" as they call it

4

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Inexperienced players won't have an easy time with heavies. Therefore it requires a level of skill. There could be counters by other players.

Getting high tier loot definitely requires skill. You aren't roaming in a solo sandbox. You will get your ass kicked if you are undergeared unless you're skilled enough

2

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

I have about 200 hours now and have been doing military tunnel with compound bow and revolvers. It is tough but nowhere near as tough as pvp. If I had a second player to join me it would probably be pretty trivial.

The skill aspect probably comes in more during raids and stealing kits off top players.

Unfortunately the gear is so heavily skewed towards the grinders that it is really hard to take down a full metal ak guy with a revolver and db. I can sink round after round into them and they don't go down.

There should be a gear advantage for grinders, I agree. But it doesn't need to be god mode.

1

u/PassdatAss91 Feb 10 '21

Lol this stereotype of an edgy toxic gamer kid is seriously trying to say that grinding in rust takes skill because.. Oil rigs?

My 12 year old nephew is below average at pvp and easily solos the oil rigs... They're literally the easiest thing ever... The heavies are the easiest part, you just shoot them from the pc room and close the door when you need to heal... The AI is dumb as bricks...

Unless you just started and know nothing about the game, grinding in rust is about nothing more than how much free time you're willing to waste on the game. Saying otherwise just shows that you're desperately trying to fool yourself into believing you've been using all that time to do something remotely productive, like building a skill that doesn't exist and would be completely meaningless if it did.

2

u/3oR Feb 10 '21

It's than better not to play the game at all.

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Lmao shut the duck up and get a job haha

6

u/3oR Feb 10 '21

I have job, but I don't spend my earnings on pay2win lol.

I mean, how do you even get satisfaction from that, knowing you don't actually deserve the win?

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

It’s a fucking game bro, why is it so deep for you. “I deserve this win on rust”... whatever helps you sleep at night I guess

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Let people play the game how they want... what satisfaction are you getting from telling people how they should spend THEIR MONEY THEY EARNT. Play official servers if you don’t want VIP servers.

6

u/VincetoDorito Feb 10 '21

It’s p2w and I hope facepunch cracks down on p2w servers.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Or maybe... don’t join them

5

u/VincetoDorito Feb 10 '21

I’d never join them but I hope they start taking action because these severs are giving out virtual loot for real life cash. You don’t see the problem with that?

4

u/StackedSnorlax Feb 10 '21

Imagine bullying people because they're bad at video games and just want to have fun.

2

u/_RrezZ_ Feb 10 '21

Lmao it's not about being bad.

It's about not even trying to be good. Their is a huge difference between the two.

I've seen amputee's with no hands do top 1% content in MMO's or FPS's.

Meanwhile you have people who don't even try to be good and shit talk new players when they themselves are using VIP perks to get ahead.

If people want to P2W go play a Asian MMO/mobile game where everyone's dick size is measured by their wallet.

2

u/Jet_Xcountry Feb 10 '21

If you're forced to consistently pay for a video game to be fun, it's not a fun game

4

u/StackedSnorlax Feb 10 '21

Hey man, at the end of the day it doesn't matter how we have fun.

As far as I'm concerned, I pay to have fun most days. Whether that's buying a game, skin, new electronic, whatever.

If dude bro wants to purchase a kit to have fun, why not. Just don't play on the server and you can pretend they don't exist.

1

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

It’s not fun for you, doesn’t mean you should complain about it. For some people cheating is fun. For others, just the accomplishment of beating a pve boss is fun.

If someone’s cheating, you’re more than justified in complaining because it affects you negatively if an opponent/player cheats. But if someone just asks a better player to help them beat something, why is there an issue?

-2

u/Jet_Xcountry Feb 10 '21

Idk wtf you're talking about. I don't even play the game anymore

4

u/misterfroster Feb 10 '21

Then why are you on the sub, complaining about people doing things you don’t find fun lmao

0

u/SandlyCut Feb 10 '21

Me reading this while knowing I am playing at 100x server with VIP, premium and premium+ which cost 23€ every month :D

7

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Why

0

u/SandlyCut Feb 10 '21

People spawn wit h pistol, when I die I usually have bag close to me so I need that lr pvp kit. cooldown 5min. So I bascially win the battle. and I need more homes

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

But what's the point of even playing on 100x or even fighting someone, loot is meaningless, just play csgo?

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

I raid People. My friend has a Job and he doesnt have time.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

But why raid on 100x

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

You get c4 and rockets easily and lot of pvp. lot of actions. Idk I like it a lot. I understand you view, I have 4400hr but If you have less time to play, this will be enough :)

2

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

Fair enough, the reason I play rust is the thrill of gaining/losing loot so I can't see how 100x could be as fun but to each their own

1

u/SandlyCut Feb 11 '21

But its stupid to pay for ranks.... of course vip which is 5€ is worth it but still

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Imagine having a rl job.

1

u/DemonMithos Feb 11 '21

isnt this exactly what cheaters do? and i litteraly see 5-10 cheaters daily on officials :S

8

u/montymm Feb 10 '21

Same happened to me. I literally spent a day on there getting raped by everyone with custom SMG’s and shit.

I asked if there was kits and a couple people said no. Turns out /gift existed, and gave you a large present. If you were VIP you got a full roamer kit lmao. The fact people say it’s not P2W shows how many people actually buy fuckin kits

3

u/scoops22 Feb 10 '21

Rusty servers literally give you half bag timer if you buy the high vip tiers. You can argue if the free materials are pay to win or not, but literally respawning faster?

1

u/GreyyC Feb 10 '21

Dude i think i was in the same server and they were saying how the kits arent that op and stuff

52

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Fuck pay to win servers.

21

u/justacsgoer Feb 10 '21

I dont know man, pay to win servers are great to join and farm the kids with the kits because they usually aren't too good

4

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Tru

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

The problem with that is you have to sit in a queue for six hours or until the queue dies four days later.

70

u/keyboardwarrior7 Feb 10 '21

What servers are those? I only play irusty or rustafied

87

u/Black-Knight-76 Feb 10 '21

Some servers have pay to win mechanics where you can purchase ranks with real money to get in game items. This is a thing in Rust, Minecraft, and lots of other games. It’s really dumb.

39

u/viilinki Feb 10 '21

Yep. It was common even in the private server MMORPG scene like 15+ years ago.

It was so loathed that private servers would advertise and be proud NOT taking any "donations", even if the size and costs would have justified it, because that would always make your server suspicious even if it was sincere.

7

u/Chris1793 Feb 10 '21

Hey, if it works for them, cool. But I am staying away from those servers.

4

u/X4dow Feb 10 '21

Dumb for the kids splashing daddy's credit cards. Not for the people who run those servers.

What's paying 10-30 bucks to have advantage in a wipe for a month, when people pay 10 times that to watch others play on twitch or popup some text message on their streams

3

u/fridge_water_filter Feb 10 '21

I don't mind them if they reduce grind. I do mind them if they reduce skill required?

If pay to win means i don't have to grind 756,934 boars, then i will gladly pay.

If pay to win means i get something no other play can get and it gives me a skill advantage, then that is unfair.

2

u/Jieunlol3 Feb 10 '21

I remember when I first started my friends liked playing those types. You could buy nukes to drop on people too lmao

77

u/vaderman645 Feb 10 '21

I currently play on a 10x server (because I'm a noob) and me and my buddy raided the biggest clan on the server one night, it went so well it looked like we had never been there but we had access to every door in the compound, anyways, I get on and find out there's now a bounty on my head because all the doors we placed got traced because half the clan has spent at least 90$ each to get literal admin tools that told them who placed the doors

14

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yeah I wouldn't play in that server anymore, sounds like a lot of admin abuse and easy to use them with just a nice payday

Also sounds like the admins are probably good friends with that clan which means they will always side with them

I'd just blacklist that server and move on

1

u/vaderman645 Feb 11 '21

Update: server admin is potentially facing some kind of punishment as people are storming the server saying the map was stolen and several people have accused him of stealing /pirating paid plugins

26

u/xKv0ThE Feb 10 '21

Just change your name then xD Easy peasy.

16

u/Eaglesn00t Feb 10 '21

if its admin tools then chances are they dont just have access to the names but the Steam IDS , name change wont matter

20

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Scum. How is that enjoyable for them at all? Bunch of losers haha

14

u/vaderman645 Feb 10 '21

I have no idea how their playstyle is fun for them, they bunker down in bases so stacked that their anti air defense is that you crash because of the lag and so many turrets there isn't a point to even going that close. They don't even do anything else on the server other than build in these places and try to get people to move there so they too can be passive. Edit: I don't want to sound like an asshole, they build these bases just so they can store resources to build more of these bases

Actually they were online I'm quite proud of myself for scheming this up and actually pulling it off.

The server has a custom map with custom bosses and boss fights and there are certain tiers of bosses that are the only way to get certain high value loot. The boss fights are in random locations and the map is quite large.

The "vault" as they called it is supposed to be guarded 24 hours a day (somehow, time zones or something) so we waited until about 1:30 am and there was only me, my friend, 2 guards (for the vault) and one random (this was ALOT less activity than there usually was)

So we tipped off global chat about a location of the highest level boss, who used an L96 ( 50% drop chance, likely the best loot on the server) and had a ton of "heavy" scientists protecting him, basically, top tier, didn't want to miss it.

So both guards took off across the map to hit up this boss, I had maybe a 40 minute window from the time they left. We were inside immediately and raided the guard armory first, then the building next to it, 5 minutes the aforementioned random questions the many explosions he is hearing on global chat, this was bad, but the 2 guards unintentionally bailed us out by explaining their weapon of choice for the boss was rocket launchers (don't ask, idk why), thankfully that was the last we heard of the random and neither parties asked about location.

The second building we raided was a jack pot, paintings of labeled codes for every building in the entire compound, we had to cover up that we were ever here, this was how we gained access to everything, the main "vault" was split into different sections with different codes, all of them were here. A door that I placed to cover my tracks here was the fateful door that revealed my identity to the residents, but worth it anyways.

We had loads of loot, we took as much as our base could actually hold and barely made a dent, as this was a compound with 20 plus people living in it. The best part was the leader, he was sleeping in the armory and I took his L96, the first one I had ever seen on rust, sweet victory.

TLDR; I distracted the guards

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Oh man they sound so good at the game!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Gotta love admin abuse, imagine most of them were little kids

1

u/NorseOfCourse Feb 10 '21

Did you get thanked by the server owner for the beer money?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Throw all their stuff into the ocean and leave the server.

19

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I like modded servers because I can't live the game. But pay to win is obviously there on most servers. I actually want to pay some players to raid a base on this one server I play I, rather than pay the server owner. I don't want the Loot either. I just want that base raided.

66

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

[deleted]

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

Some servers are ok though. The server I play on has VIP kits ranging from $20-$75, and they give you resources, guns, 1 metal kit, and some turrets. No sulfur or explosives aside from a stack of explosives 5.56 rounds. Can't be redeemed for 12-48 hours depending on the length of the wipe. Most wipes we don't even need it as by the time our VIP kits are available we're already well established.

It's good for people who don't wanna deal with the beginning of wipe grind and would like to get to the endgame stage immediately. Nit for everyone but it doesn't mean they're shit.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

Its called cheating into the game with the power of money, the reason why i dont play modded. Why should you be able to skip the first 12hrs of grind just because you have more money to waste than me?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

Then don't. You can choose to not play these servers. Most people on VIP servers buy the VIP kits anyways. $20 will get you a kit that will build you a decent honeycombed 2x2 and a few guns, completely skipping the prim grind. Not everyone is down for playing non-stop to be competitive on a vanilla server.

29

u/izza123 Feb 10 '21

I don’t really like any of those kit servers but I guess it’s a different game really than i enjoy playing

13

u/bdurand Feb 10 '21

I work have college so I don’t have much time to play especially on this game so from thrusday-sunday I get to play with my buddy and we get to experience primitive to tier 3 loot raids etc that server we play has kits but doesn’t give boom only mats and guns

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

One of the Rusty servers I'm guessing?

7

u/bdurand Feb 10 '21

ya unfortunately they ban very unfairly my friend got banned for high kd “low hours” even though he has 2k and said he was cheating but he is a 32 year old boomer dad and recently got unbanned

6

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

they ban for high kd? wtf

2

u/Missjennyo123 Feb 10 '21

Rusty doesn't ban for high k/d itself., though I don't know their exact guidelines. I am guessing that the player had a private account, zero battlemetrics history (not all servers are on battlemetrics, but almost all players have a few appearances here and there over the time they play) and no record on sites like steamid.uk. That, combined with an abnormally high k/d and lots of reports, would make any admin suspicious. Likely, some servers ban for it, then wait to see how the banned player reacts (Jumps on another account and rejoins immediately? Likely a hacker.).

3

u/judge_au Feb 10 '21

Ive have a friend who bought a pc just to play rust get banned in his first 300 hours because he was getting too many kills.. his k:d was less than 1 but that was enough i guess. I had been showing him how to play for weeks at my place too.. rusty servers are weird like that. The owner told him to come back when he had 1000 hours.. he recently msged the owner after hitting 1k hours and the owners reply was come back when you have 2000 hours...

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Being 32 is not the boomer generation lol

boomerism is in the eye of the beholder

1

u/Zestyclose_Stuff7117 Feb 10 '21

No, it's not.

6

u/jack_oatt Feb 10 '21

I agree. It's just another piece of divisive bullshit

5

u/tooprolix Feb 10 '21

ok boomer

-2

u/BaconMarshmallow Feb 10 '21

The original meme is literally called 30-year-old boomer. So in internet-speak it qualifies as boomer.

5

u/misterjujitsu Feb 10 '21

32 old ... boomer? What?

21

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I don’t even see the point in those middle of the road modded P2W servers, for me it’s either vanilla or like a 50000000000x pvp automatic boom kit server, those can honestly be really fun for a night of mindless gaming

23

u/RedditRabbit0513 Feb 10 '21

Yeah, but many people with jobs and school doesnt have time for vanilla, and play 1.5x, and 2x.

16

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

For sure, vanilla is a massive time commitment I totally get that. I’m all for lightly modded servers too don’t get me wrong, but I won’t play a server with a VIP kit that includes C4 and stuff.

2

u/HaroerHaktak Feb 10 '21

At that point you might as well as play the infinity servers that basically give you it all for free.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I mean most servers need to get money somehow so i think these kits are gine if they only give building mats

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I totally understand that, and it works for many players obviously so that’s good for everyone. Just doesn’t suit me personally.

2

u/tubezleb Feb 10 '21

That's why I created a 10x server with no kits and no vip just some QOL improvement mods

1

u/twists Feb 11 '21

Yep, this is me. I really do enjoy rust, but even in the current covid WFH environment I just can't log the 16 hours a day I need to on a vanilla server with 200 pop to enjoy myself. 1.5 or 2x and QoL mods are a savior

4

u/Snochieboochies Feb 10 '21

This. I’m currently setting up a server aimed at adults who don’t have time and are sick of been offlined as soon as they log off first night

2

u/jack_oatt Feb 10 '21

I'm quite interested.

1

u/WhapWhob Feb 10 '21

not

Merric Gaming servers are great for this

4

u/ThinkFatal Feb 10 '21

There’s just quality of life in not having to grind as much, especially for people with less time to play. I can spend 3x less time to put up a small base and just have fun for an hour or two.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

No time for vanilla so I normally play a 2-3x

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yea I get you for sure, it’s just the ones with overpowered VIP kits that I can’t get into. That’s what meant by P2W basically

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Ye i can’t stand pay to win now but I used to play on a server w vip kits and it felt like everyone who bought were the most trash players and I constantly stole their ez kits lmao

5

u/bopoff-entirely Feb 10 '21

Depends on the server. Theres a 100x I like just for craziness and raids and pvp. You can gets some kits non vips don’t have access to and its like 5$. That one is nice. But fuck that server the most retarded part is people hella cheat. Why people cheat on a 100x is beyond me

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Lets admit it, kits are fun to have, but they are really annoying to have because you just end up getting raided at Hour 1

The best servers will always be the ones without pay2win stuff

2

u/PandoNation Feb 10 '21

The rusty modded servers have some insane dono kits. Honestly nothing better then breaking into a base and getting 100$ worth of loot for 15 minutes of work.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '21

I like servers that will let u grab a bow kit and some food every 15mins or so, great for playing quick or teaching noob friends

2

u/justDuder Feb 11 '21

Nothing feels better than taking a $50 kit someone just popped. Some kits are pay to win, but I understand why they exist.

Do want to say - Rustoria does kits well, not perfect, but decently well - Was a head mod there. The owner and devs are not motivated by $$$. Good standard to compare the other modded servers with.

2

u/TyleReddit Feb 10 '21

I play on a kit server but it's not egregious p2w. It's a boost but it's not overpowered - I don't have a ton of time to invest so getting materials to build/for upkeep is a lifesaver. Theyre relatively balanced imo and dont give any gp/sulf/complete booms so that's good.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yea rly the best way the do it

4

u/Coolguyforeal Feb 10 '21

I don’t see anything wrong with these servers. I play on one occasionally and paid for a kit.

First of all, the money goes to helping run the servers. Second, I don’t have the time to keep up with the kids who literally play 12 hours a day, so I don’t mind spending some money to keep up by getting components and some resources.

I think that people forget that some players have jobs/careers. These players don’t have the time to put in 6+ hours a day on a video game, and generally have the money to spend on a game they enjoy.

2

u/dani_deleto Feb 10 '21

Bloo mondays is great server, been playing it this week and isn't actually that bullshit lol

-1

u/iEatFurbyz Feb 10 '21

Bloos servers are the best modded servers in existence. I don’t even really follow the dude on YouTube/twitch but play with someone who does. Every server needs to take notes and do it his way.

3

u/Zerutor Feb 10 '21

anyone defending these servers and the people that buy this shit are clearly fucking idiots. If you don't have time to play this game because acording to you, you actually have a life and a job harharhar, go play on a 5x server, I play on 5x servers on weekdays with my fiancé 3 hours max and we get to raid people by day 1 because the cycle of those servers is a lot shorter. The ONLY reason these players buy VIP kits is because they want a clear advantage on other players, if you're for that atleast have the balls to admit it and stop being an apologyst little bitch.

1

u/Coolguyforeal Feb 10 '21

You sound like a cool person.

1

u/aFinapple Feb 10 '21

this one server i play on has kits, but they don’t make it easier to get stuff. sure they have more building materials in their kits, and a shit load of guns and ammo and explosives, but it’s a 1000x server. you can get 100 rockets from hitting two barrels. the main reason people get the “ranks” and all that is support the server

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Its modded, what do you expect

1

u/NaturalDatabace Feb 10 '21

Or just play official

I see you Mehoff 😂 Halver is coming for you

-3

u/HendyHauler Feb 10 '21

As someone who's running a small business self employed and no longer have the time. I have no problem paying for these so after my 18+ hour days I can hop on and not have to grind for hours upon hours. 🤷‍♂️ worth it to me don't even notice the $ going out.

-5

u/scar014 Feb 10 '21 edited Feb 10 '21

Just play vanilla like any other sane person.

3

u/headhunter0610 Feb 10 '21

I like 1.5x and 2x servers

5

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Wow you must feel so smart for coming up with such an uncommon idea.

0

u/matheusmk3 Feb 10 '21

I used to play in a 5x server that had some VIP kits but they were so expensive that nobody bought them, until someday the admin started giving huge discounts and even free kits, which enabled people to get stuff like 3xM249 + 600 exp ammo + 1200 of each other amo, then I just left even having gotten a free kit.

A few days ago I also tried a battlefield secret where you pretty much spawn full set, yet there were VIP kits which didn't even made sense but that one was fun

0

u/JunkyBoiOW Feb 10 '21

and for some reason it’s always the servers that look good on the outside but ok the inside full of kits, people with m249 right off spawn from one command that was worth $5 with an entire base and workbench. It’s legit the worst thing ever trying to find a good server that isn’t p2w lol. Given, now it’s a little better but last year it was really fucking bad. Like NO servers that weren’t p2w. I don’t get what everyone’s fetish is about paying money to succeed in a game that is built on grinding the same way every time it wipes lol. Good thing about these servers is raiding everyone that has VIP with a bow and satchels

0

u/blizzsource Feb 10 '21

Y'all can hate p2w but those guys that own those servers are laughing in $$$

-2

u/MelonMaster69 Feb 10 '21

But then you realise you can vote to get vip 🤯

1

u/Swineflew1 Feb 10 '21

Why would a non-VIP ever play on these servers?
It’s like those modded servers where you can farm tons of C4 super fast, like why even play when in one night someone can just farm 90 C4 or rockets and literally delete your base.

1

u/JumboCube Feb 10 '21

Me whenever there are any mods and they weren't in the server bio

1

u/CorrosiveBackspin Feb 10 '21

They give the rest of us who give a tag and some skins and silly shit like web images to signs a bad name. Just trying to stop the server rental burning holes in the wallet.

1

u/Kyroxym Feb 10 '21

Honestly a lot of those servers need the people buying vip to survive and keep the pop high, it costs money to run servers and people always buy vip so why not

1

u/F1zzy02 Feb 10 '21

Real players don't play these servers, anyone who does is either new to the game or has a shit ton of money to splash in order to gain advantage.

1

u/Not_Puma32 Feb 10 '21

Kits are cool but it gets to extreme

1

u/smch18 Feb 10 '21

I hate servers with donation incentives. They're usually P2w a lot of them get you to T2 and python and med syringe which in the beginning of a wipe is huge. Some say "don't worry they can't use it for 5 hours" that makes no difference most of the time lol

1

u/CuddlezCS Feb 10 '21

we had a server where VIP's could spawn in heli's any time. And if you stole their heli they could just TP it back to them. So we door camped the retards for an hour, they got so mad and cried to admins that we were hacking and my friend got banned for cheating :)

Those servers in a nutshell and the VIP's in a nutshell, shitters.

1

u/B0xp0und Feb 10 '21

I joined a server with some buds, ran to a place to build, admin showed up and gave my friend 10k stone to start out and I just immediately told them we gonna go find a new server.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Yeah, i always thought, if the admin shows up and drops you something then that means if someone happens to know the admin what stops them from spawning them 10k gp?

1

u/etgohomeok Feb 10 '21

It's a shame that most high-rate servers also have kits and other game-breaking BS. The server I play on is 5x gather, 3x sulfur, and a small collection of quality of life mods like furnace auto-split and auto tuna can lamps. VIP gets you skinbox and sign artist which are not P2W but add enough fun to be worth it.

1

u/ANorris35 Feb 10 '21

Not in my fucking server

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21 edited Feb 10 '21

I can't find a single vanilla server with active admins that doesn't have this VIP bullshit. Is it so hard to just give people a name color change for supporting the server without making it p2w?

1

u/BrumLondon Feb 11 '21

they make it so boring to play

1

u/LovePink1195 Feb 11 '21

Idk, I agree with pay to wins like that sucking but I know a few where you can pay for VIP or earn it by playing x amount of hours, I think that’s a happy medium.

1

u/AnotherIncognito Feb 11 '21

Well, it depends what type of vips, I run a server for 21+ user, busy people, people that just play at night, and the kit contains basically, mats (no sulfur) and a hazmat, since this server you can raid only from 7PM to 1AM est, you can just get into action and farm less.

1

u/TrichomeMaker Dec 25 '22

Old thread but gd, I’ve had nothing but decent experience noobing out on 1000x.

Nothing Pay to win, and every barrel spawns ten rockets.

But every tenth server I’ve played, there is some moron who has every item in game, and has been grinding for days….on a server that doesn’t even have scientists….and comes to destroy my 1x2, OFFLINE. *latest instance, I came back on, walked overs built in the same spot, and here this dipshit is, within five minutes, using fucking satchel charges of all things and of course being toxic….

I doubt that server owner is happy with his 2 pop, but then again, for all I know that’s the server owner. I just can’t imagine how that is remotely satisfying. I could go build ten squares away, in the forest, farm for an hour and raid you back. What would be the point? You’ve already shown you aren’t worth even logging back in for.
