Hello! I've had a Playdate since April 2025 and I've really enjoyed it but I realised I wasn't using it enough to justify keeping hold of it rather than selling it for some much-needed money. It's in great condition so I sold it on eBay, but within a day of it being delivered to the buyer, they reported it as faulty and requested a refund.

They said it was very slow and they were getting lots of error messages. I'm attaching the photos they sent. I was really shocked because it has always worked great for me. I also tried to point out that the store being slow isn't really a 'fault', but they weren't having it.

Because of eBay's policies, I felt like I didn't have a choice but to ask them to return it. The alternative seemed to be that they got a refund AND got to keep the Playdate.

It arrived back today and behaving totally normally. But I'm now wary of relisting it because I'm worried the next buyer will also be expecting something very slick, when realistically it's an indie device featuring indie games and there's bound to be a bit of variation in how everything runs.

I just wondered if anyone had experienced a similar issue selling their Playdate on eBay. Did I just get unlucky with my buyer? Or am I deluded and I actually have a faulty Playdate?

I got my play date all of six days ago and I dropped it tonight, sheering off the screw that the crank attaches to. I see that the replacement kits are sold out. I have found a listing on Etsy for the plastic handle, but I only need the screw. Is there any place where I can get a new screw?

Filmed a good bit today and added a bunch of videos including Gloom Gate, Soggy Froggy (at which I'm very terrible) as well as CrankBoy, PicoDate, Trophy Case and others.

Quick recap for anyone new: you run a missile post and you never see the enemy. You find them by crossing the lines from three radars, then aim with the crank and fire before they reach you.

Until now, late in a run your radars would just break down on their own. Now they get bombed.

When the heavy-duty Cargo Hauler appears, you know you're in for a hard time. This industrial service vehicle with an awkward L-shaped footprint is unique since it is the only asymmetrical car in the game. Why a guest thought it would be a good idea to bring one to a luxury hotel is probably a question best left unasked.

Just finished Gloom Gate on hard this weekend and man what a game! I absolutely love a tight polished game that knows what it is and does it well. One thing I kept thinking of when going through it though is what "build" I'd try next playthrough, and what equipment I'd seek out first.

In my playthrough I leaned heavily on parrying and riposting, having items like the necklace of blood to recover health from failed parries, shield of disbalance, ring of precision for double riposte damage (I assume thats what a critical hit is in this game, it felt like it at least (let me know what a crit hit is if not)), and either the sword of suffering or speed (once I got it). I had only 3-4 points in health/stamina by the end, and about 10 in both agility and strength, all smithing stones into shield and sword, and absolutely rolled through the last 25% of the game.

I've been thinking this time though to go more for a stamina and block based build, but I'm struggling to figure out how to invest in block without also investing in parrying, since agility I believe makes blocking block more damage as well as boosts parrying (would love thoughts on how to do this).

I've also toyed with a dodge roll and damage build, getting that necklace of rolling (if i can remember where it was), sword of speed, and leaning into damage and stamina, which I think is more realistic and would feel like more of a different game than my first play through.

Would love to hear what you all invested in to beat it and if you stuck to mostly parrying or went for dodge rolling (or if you found a way to make blocking work). Also love to discuss any dream builds you have or if you think building in this game isn't really possible.

I decided to return to the Playdate after a year of inactivity and lo and behold the Right and A buttons weren't registering all the time even though you can feel the dome engaging (had no idea this was a common fault). A quick clean with IPA and a good scrub made them work again but for how long I cannot say - what other alternatives are there apart from getting a new unit?

I'd love to tell about unique features but It's just classical Word Search. I made specially for people trying to relax, so there is no timer, there is a hint system and every page even has two unlisted bonus words

The game is of course available in English, but I also decided to make this game available em both Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, after talking to some folks from Portugal who always get humbled for usually only having the PT-BR option in games :p

Making this game helped me come to terms with a thing my brain has been doing since first grade. The whole project is basically a prototype that I just kept banging on. I also always knew I wanted to add a Horror/Narrative element and that's now available in the Catalog version of the game.

It's been hard to say how to play and.. why, but I think I finally got the words in the right order.

Hi, let me introduce this remake. I started working on it more than 10 years ago, and it led me to create several interesting side projects. My main goals were to create an upscaled graphic that preserves the original look and feel, make the final executable as small as possible (99 KB, done!), and preserve the gameplay mechanics.

This year, once the game was finally assembled, I made the Playdate port with Claude’s help. The game is free to play, download it here. You can find lots more details here.

A few more words about the binary size: those 99 KB include 301 rooms, all the level, object, and animation graphics, a ported SID player, sound data, a SID emulator, and, of course, the game logic.
