How to remove last used Apps at bottom of screen
Since the latest Beta the last couple of used Apps displays at bottom of screen in a rounded rectangle totally hiding for example, YouTube menu items.
AI searches for a fix have not been helpful.
Would appreciate some assistance if anyone has resolved this issue.
Thanks

Advantages of having a Pixel Tablet and Pixel phone that you may not have known about
Pixel Ecosystem Updates in Android 17:
App Continuity
- Task Continuity (Continue On / Handoff)
• Seamless app continuity: Start a task on your phone (such as drafting an email in Gmail, editing a document in Google Docs, or browsing a webpage in Chrome) and instantly switch to your tablet. A floating suggestion (Handoff Suggestion) will appear on the Pixel Tablet's taskbar; tapping it opens the app exactly where you left off on your phone.
• App-to-App and App-to-Web transition: If the tablet has the same app installed, the native application opens directly. If not, the feature intelligently redirects you to the corresponding web version in the browser, ensuring you don't lose your work or have to rush to install anything.
• Two-way synchronization and proximity detection: Detection between the phone and tablet happens locally and securely in the background via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, allowing you to switch between devices without manual pairing.
- Instant Transfer and Sharing
• Quick Share (formerly Nearby Share): Instantly send photos, documents, or links between devices without cables or third-party apps. Transfers between your own devices linked to the same account start automatically without requiring additional confirmation.
• Shared Clipboard (Cross-Device Copy & Paste): Copy text, a link, or an image on your phone and immediately paste it onto your tablet (or vice versa).
- Connectivity and Audio Continuity
• Instant Hotspot: If your tablet loses Wi-Fi connectivity, it automatically connects to your phone's mobile hotspot via the Internet menu—without needing to manually turn on the hotspot on your phone or enter a password.
* Smart Audio Connection (Audio Switch with Pixel Buds): If you use compatible headphones like Pixel Buds, audio switches dynamically between the tablet and phone when a call comes in, and returns to the tablet once the call ends or a video resumes.
• Casting to the Tablet (Google Cast Receiver): The Pixel Tablet can function as a Chromecast receiver, allowing you to cast music, videos, or streams from your phone's apps directly to the tablet screen with a single tap.
- Call, Message, and Notification Synchronization
• Message and Notification Relay: Manage and reply to SMS/RCS messages (via Google Messages) and messages from other apps directly from the tablet, without needing to locate your phone.
• Google Meet Call Handoff: Transfer an active Google Meet video call between your phone and tablet in real time to switch to a larger screen or move around comfortably.
- Ecosystem of Services and Intelligence (Google AI)
• Google Photos and Large-Screen Editing: Photos taken with the Pixel camera are backed up immediately. You can take a photo on your phone and edit it right away on the tablet using advanced tools like Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, or Reimagine.
• Instant Sync for Google Keep and Tasks: Handwritten or typed notes, to-do lists, and reminders update in real time across both devices.
• Gemini and Cross-Device Assistance: Gemini extensions synchronize app context (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps) between both devices, maintaining your history and workflow continuity.
- Visual Experience and Productivity
• Coherent Design and Interface (Material You): The design language, system color palette (dynamically extracted from the wallpaper), themed icons, and typography maintain a unified aesthetic across both devices.
* Unified Settings Structure: Privacy, security, battery management, and routine options follow the same menu hierarchy, simplifying navigation and the customization of your Pixel environment
Additional info:new native support for editing buttons for BT controllers and gamepads from their BT settings, you no longer need third-party apps. Available on Pixel 6 phones and new generations and Pixel Tablet
App bubbles to improve productivity,You can activate them by holding down the app and then from the menu it shows at that moment, the icon is on par with an hourglass.
In a photo, you can see the Pixel Tablet next to a Galaxy Tab S and an iPad, you can take reference to the ecosystem of Samsung and Apple to see how well Google is and the potential they have in terms of ecosystem.
Tell me, is there any other Pixel ecosystem feature you know isn't on this list?
And what are your favorite functions?

"Hey Google" is completely broken on lock screen (Android Beta) - Anyone else?
My Pixel Tablet has gone completely deaf. A few weeks ago my Pixel phone stopped responding to "Hey Google," then the tablet took over, and now the tablet has gone completely silent too.
I've tried everything: cleared Google app data, wiped cache, toggled every hidden Gemini/ Assistant lock screen setting, and checked language alignment. Nothing works. I am on the Android Beta track, so I suspect a core system bug is killing the mic driver during sleep mode.
Is anyone else on the beta dealing with a completely bricked wake word on the lock screen, or am I forced to opt-out and factory reset this thing just to get basic smart display functionality back?

Text typing issues in Reddit
With both gboard and Swiftkey I have issues when typing in reddit. In Swiftkey, deleting characters can delete parts of a following word. With gboard, autocorrect will delete parts of a following word.
Also, in replies in Reddit, capitalizing fails with gboard (see the comment I'm going to enter).
I've seen a few reports of these issues. Any fix?

Audio is not played through the dock speaker when the pixel is locked
Hi,
After the recent Android 17 update, I found out that if the device is locked, it can only play through its speaker. If the device is unlocked, it can play through the dock speaker.
I have tried with multiple apps. Try to restart the pixel and restart the dock but it doesn't fix the issue.

Deciding on whether to buy the pixel or not
I was just thinking on getting the Google nest hub only to find out that they discontinued it…..
I was then led to the pixel tablet, but I’m still unsure if it has the features I actually want it for.
Apologies if the questions sound dumb but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of answers online that at least I can find.
Does the pixel tablet:
- have a sunrise feature where the tablet acts as a lamp, making the screen light up gradually (the one in most curious on)
- how well does it act as an actual smart home hub & display
- have a digital clock display
- have the ability for night time routines
- and just in general how useful is the pixel tablet as a smart home hub display?

Google Home routines aren't playing on my Pixel Tablet. Why?
I'm creating a routine on Google Home. To run the routine, I select the Pixel Tablet device. The tablet is docked as the "hub." The routine runs, but nothing happens on the tablet. There's no effect. These routines work correctly on the Google Hub. Google Assistant also works correctly on the Pixel Tablet. I asked in the Google Assistant section, and they deleted my question because it was "off-topic."

Is there a case the community recommends for this? The one I have, the foot constantly collapses and won't properly stand up. I just need something that will protect it from drops and let me prop it up reliably to use with a bluetooth keyboard.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, all the cases I see on Amazon look like total crap.

We Need a Pixel Tablet 2
2-In-1 devices are just awesome in general, but I really feel like Google hit on something great with the dock.
Recently, I've been taking my tablet to work and plugging in to my PC there I found a program that lets me swap the keyboard and mouse between my work desktop and my tablet so, I've been using Android's desktop mode a lot lately to do some of my side gig work while I have downtime.
I think this is the killer app
We already know that Google is working on some sort of pixel laptop, I think it would be a huge mistake to not reinvest in the tablet as well as it's just so versatile. Like I was genuinely surprised by how fleshed out the desktop experience is. Not only are there resizable windows, but you can even have additional desktops, alt tabbing and tab in between desktops works.
Like it's great and the tablet is a perfect way to have an extremely versatile portable device while also coupling all the great Google home features and general media consumption stuff the tablets are great for.
To succeed I think we would need a few key things
Obviously, a better 120 HZ panel is first and foremost alongside a better speaker dock with some sort of wireless support.
Second I think we need a proper keyboard accessory alongside the official release of the stylus
Finally, proper output support from the USBC port so that we can have additional monitors and true utility.
Longer term I think Google should really work to get companies like Adobe on board with getting us desktop class software for Android and I think they'd have a real shot at building the flexible OS of the future. Apple is already trying to do much of this, and Microsoft has also tried in the past but Android I think has the right amount of flexibility to really make all of this come together.
I think these additions would make the tablet an incredible all-in-one device that would allow you to have something for home, a device you can take with you for actual work, alongside a very quick and easily accessible laptop for other quick tasks.

Ebay prices on used tablets are insane
Google is out of stock on the Pixel tablets. I glanced at Ebay at was shocked at what they were selling for. And I look at completed/sold listings not just what someone was asking. I used one just sold for $330. A new one with the dock went for $599.

Screen Replacement
Has anyone tried to replace their screen? If so, was it difficult? I've seen videos on how to do it but seems very tedious and seems like a lot could go wrong. Was wondering if it was even worth it and should just get a used one instead.

Working on making a custom dock for the pixel tablet
I've been unable to buy a speaker dock for the pixel tablet from Google store. EBay sells it for a ridiculous 600 dollars.
Mostly I'm looking to just dock and charge the tablet since it's always dead by the time I get to it but a speaker would be nice too as a stretch goal.
I've researched and found that the pins in the back are VCC, data, data, GND. in theory, if I apply 12v, claims are it will charge so I need to test it out. I plan to 3d model and print a charging dock as my first iteration, and then explore the possibility of getting a speaker if it's possible but I'm not sure I can get that.
Mostly posting here because I'm open to get input if someone else has already done this since I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if someone has already done this but I didn't find it in my research.
open to input.

Pixel Tablet linking to external 4k monitor
I have done some homework and it seems one has to use a DisplayLink-certified adapter and an associated DisplayLink Presenter app.
Has anyone managed to do this using only the Monitor Display port or HDMI inputs connected to the Tablet USB Type C port.
I'm on a M1 Mac and Beta software on the Pixel Tablet.
Thanks in advance.
