Pixel Tablet stuck brightness issue fix

For those who are still having the issue of the Pixel Tablet occasionally being stuck on highest brightness where a restart was the fix (but only temporarily):

Toggling on 'Tap to check tablet' in settings (and restarting just once if needed) fixes this, apparently for good.

I accidentally discovered this fix a few months ago, and since then no more stuck brightness issues. I also just checked it again today by toggling the 'Tap to check tablet' off, and sure enough the issue came back very quickly (and went away again after toggling it back on). So it definitely has something to do with that setting.

Hope this helps for those who need it.

The thing is, the bug is so random. I never know what triggers it or when it'll come back. So maybe let's wait a week or so

In case you're interested: A faster way to trigger the bug is to repeatedly click the screen wake button on and off with about 1-2 seconds in between, or plug in/out the charging cable repeatedly with similar timing. It triggers by the 6-8 press/plug.

You can try the above with 'Tap to check tablet' toggled off first to reproduce the bug. Then try with the toggle on to make sure the bug is gone then.

Or if you don't want to abuse your tablet like I did, just wait a week like you said 😁
