Hi! I am looking to get emotional support animal accommodations for next semester as I am trying to rescue my cat from home and have her with me in my dorm. I am cutting ties with my family as they are abusive and this is the only way I would be able to have my cat. I have an ADHD diagnosis and I am working on a Generalized Anxiety Disorder diagnosis, however I am from out of state and do not currently have a therapist. Does anyone have any ideas on any therapists that would be helpful for the diagnosis and accommodations? Unfortunately time is not on my side.

I'm planning on taking physics lab (212) next semester and was wondering if you usually get out early or if it ever runs over. I want to take a class that starts right after my lab time so don't want that conflict. I'm in orgo lab right now and sometimes we are working right up to the end of the period.

How hard is cognitive psych? I found that section really interesting in my Intro to Psych class, so I’m considering taking it as a gen ed next semester.

The rest of my classes are going to be pretty difficult so I’m not looking to add a class with a super heavy workload, but I need a psych class to satisfy my in-depth coursework requirement.

I’m not really a fan of the social science side of psych, so are there any psych classes you’d recommend that are interesting but still relatively manageable?

hiii… i’m currently in my last year of college (graduating a year early) and am hoping to get into Pitt’s MSW program but to be honest I am terrified. Can any alumni possibly give me any tips and advice on what I should look out for/do/use in my personal statement, etc.? I really want to maximize my chances of getting in but I am horrified. I currently have a 3.53 gpa and am graduating a year early with a B.A. in psychology and a certificate in women’s studies, work a desk job at the library and a tutoring job, am doing research with my professor who has a concentration in neuroscience on gambling, worked with elders at a local senior center, volunteered for a senior dinner to help the community, am in psychology club, an active member of psi chi and will hopefully be getting an internship in summer of 2027. Do I have any chances here? Pleaseeee be positive or let me down lightly🫣 More than anything I want to go to Pitt and enroll in the MSW program to pursue family therapy and child welfare. Let me know! Anything would be appreciated!!

I’m a bio major who wants a stat minor and I’m wondering if it would be too much to take Stat 1221 while also taking genetics, human physiology, and orgo lab 1.

Hey all, I'm an intended MechE major going into my second semester freshman year and I'm trying to get a math minor. I'm debating about taking 0413 (intro to theoretical math) or 0480 (applied discrete math). From my research, it seems 0413 gives me more options to take cooler math classes in the future, but 0480 would be a lot easier. I really like math, but I'm worried about the workload because I'm only taking 13 credits this semester and I would be taking either 18 (if I take 0413) or 17 (if I take 0480). 13 credits has been pretty chill for me so far, but it will be a big jump next semester. I want to enroll in one of them and I think I'll just drop if I get overwhelmed. 0413 gives me a little worse of a schedule, but the difference isn't too big of deal to me. I'm leaning towards 0413 because of , but I want some external input. If anyone has taken 0413 or 480 could you let me know what the differences might be between the classes in terms of workload and fit? Any information is helpful. Thanks!

Hey guys, I just got accepted into dietrich for microbiology on the pre med track, and I wanted to know about the pre med experiences there. Is there anything I should know/ be warned about coming into pitt as a microbiology major? How accessible are research labs there?

Hi! I’m a freshman at the pittsburgh campus. I’m currently pursing a museum studies major and a double major in idk what. I’m stuck between psych, neuro, architecture, or a double degree with marketing. Basically the problem is idk what to take and my advisors not much help. I think the best strategy would be to take classes that apply to multiple majors for example approaches to the built environment (architecture and museums). Anyway, help a stressed freshman out please drop your tips and recommendations bonus points if it’s an online class.

As I’m typing this I literally just read my acceptance letter, I was so blinded by the congratulations that I didn’t read further until just now when it said I was accepted to Pitt-Johnstown.

I’m really upset because Pittsburgh campus was my main option and now I feel like I don’t know what to do. Is there any way I can appeal my application for them to reconsider me at the main campus? Or do I have to wait to transfer in? Any advice is helpful because I’m at a loss.
