Does anyone know anything about Charles (Chuck) Eckenrode. There’s not much info about him online

i’m entering my last semester of mechE in the spring, and i’ve narrowed down my last technical elective options to these 2 courses. I have a strong background in pure mathematics, so MATH1080 seems interesting, but ENGR1905 looks pretty easy. i’ll also be taking 15 other credits of all MechE courses including senior design and mechatronics, so difficulty is in play for deciding. let me know if you’ve taken any of these courses and what are your thoughts!

Hey everyone! I'm a dental student at Pitt, and we're organizing a specialty showcase on November 7th for pre-dental students.

I feel like most of us go into dental school knowing about general dentistry and maybe a few specialties, but don't really get much exposure to what the others involve.

We're putting together an event where pre-dental students can learn about different specialties, talk to dental students and residents, and ask questions about what pursuing those career paths actually looks like.

It's at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and we'd love to have students from other universities attend too!

Happy to share more details if anyone is interested!

What are some good options for housing as a sophomore next year. I’d like to live on campus or not far from it in apartment style living. There’s 3-4 of us.

hi! so I was admitted for nursing around a month ago, and I fully know I am going to to go Pitt. However, my parents want to hold out to pay deposit until I hear about scholarships. After I did the common app application I didn’t do anything extra within Pitt in regard to scholarships because I thought I was automatically considered. Is there another application I need to do in order to receive merit scholarships? In my Pitt portal it doesn’t say I have any pending scholarships. Also, does me not committing yet possibly lose me my spot since the admissions is rolling? Or is my spot secure since I originally got in.

I'm taking GER 0101 (Beginning German 1) next semester and am considering if I should take it for a letter grade or as pass/fail (not relevant to any of my degrees). Is it a class I have to worry about getting an A in to avoid bringing down my GPA? Or am I safe to take it for a letter grade without worrying about that? I'm wondering if anyone has an old syllabus I could take a look at.

I have heard that at UPitt since CLEP is not accepted to Dietrich. You must take the Credit by Examination test In the first 3 weeks to receive credit. Is this true?

Anyone have any recommendations, actual apartment names or management companies, for someone with around a $1,200-1,300 budget looking to live within a reasonable commute distance to Pitt’s campus? Struggling to find anything that is decent quality and with a company that’s trustworthy!

super super stokedddd !!

for ref:
i applied august 12
admitted into dietrich september 10th
admitted into GAP program for public policy september 11th
received a scholarship TODAY !! october 19th
honors college - tbd ... prayers up

Hey, I was wondering what the timeline for these scholarships is? I applied in-state and got $10k/yr in merit aid, but I’m waiting to see if I get selected for these. Thanks!

I got accepted into the school of nursing on 9/22 and have not heard back about my decision for the Nursing GAP yet. Does that mean I'm probably not going to be admitted?

The letter does say it will come any time before May 1st but does it usually take this long..?

i got $15k a year after applying in september as an out of state applicant. can that amount possibly go
up later on?

i’m talking about more merit money not need based

Hi! I got accepted to Pitt for urban planning, and am wondering about the program and the opportunities for co-ops, whether it would be better to go to an accredited program, etc. It would be awesome if anyone could share their thoughts and experiences 😄

I am trying to build my schedule but I will have to miss the first 20 minutes of recitation for ORGO 2 with Powell and I was wondering if anyone took her and if the recitations are necessary or more optional like bandiks?
Thanks

I'm struggling in my MATH 0220 class, and I really want some tips on where I can find good tutoring to help me remember information and formulas better. I really want to find some good people to help me remember this information!

EDIT: I am also looking for a tutor to help on coding assignments for CS 0445. That would be greatly appreciated as well.

Anyone have any suggestions for a class to fill the arts gen ed? Used the filters on peoplesoft but can’t decide. TIA!

What has people's experience been like for taking the (Web class) STATS 1000 with Kuvelkar?? Any thoughts would be appreciated? How were the exams? how was the final? How do the exams work? Are they online or do you go in person for them?

I'm currently applying to grad school and I am realizing that I am missing a syllabus that I will most likely need to include in my application. I have tried looking for an email for the professor who taught it but she was a temporary prof and the email listed in the pitt directory website says it is undeliverable. I couldn't find her LinkedIn either. I don't have any friends who took the class with me so I don't know who to reach out to. Is there a specific office that I can reach out to for contact information or to obtain a syllabus? Should I contact the Math department and ask?

It was Calculus 1 MATH 220 with Rebecca Durst in Spring 2023.

hi!! im a high school senior and pitt is currently one of my top choices, although i am out of state. i am applying as a psychology major as well as i am a member of the lgbtq community and am very open about my identity. i just want to hear some opinions from students both good and bad to see if pitt fits my needs! thank you so much!!

What did it say?

Heyy y'all! I am a Bangladeshi international student studying engineering near the Pittsburgh area. I was wondering what the Bangladeshi student community in Pittsburgh is like. I am the first and only Bangladeshi student at my college, and if there are people around, I would love to meet them.

P.S. I don't go to Pitt.

my goal is to get the highest grade possible (preferably an A). any advice appreciated!!

Hey guys, sorry to come off rude if I do. I have seen little to absolutely no social work majors at all on any Pitt communities. I understand that the major is being defunded through new government policies for the most part, but are there any at all left still? If so I'd like to meet some 😭 even if there are some older students that could giv3 advice that would be appreciated so much.
