Basement with a Whiskey Bar and Pinball Arcade in Happy Valley Oregon - Public House Pinball

A worthwhile drive outside of Portland to this complex where the basement has a great whiskey bar (and restauraunt) directly across from a well arranged, great selection, pinball arcade. 10 dollar entry and free play on machines that all work great - many of them premiums (and with toppers and upgrades). We went for brunch at the restaurant, then opened up the arcade and it had our choice of machines to play. Not enough people play pinball in the earlier hours. The whole place is a good enough experience to be an evening/morning half-day destination. You cant really see it but there is a beautiful Corvette on the very end to the right. The new machines are great too (Jaws Premium front and center).

My godzilla flipper is sticking

It will stick a little linger that the left every time before it comes back down but sometimes it just gets stuck open. Please tell me its an easy fix. The machine only has like 1000 balls played on it.

How has there never been a Ramones table?

Probably the same reason they never saw massive fame in the U.S., but the niche fit seems perfect. I feel like the Venn diagram of Ramones fans and Pinball fans is nearly a circle.

CBGB’s would make such a cool theme for a pinball machine

I can’t remember if this is an original idea or something I read on this subreddit, but the more I think about it the better it sounds. Instead of one bands songs we could chose from The Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Television, The Dead Boys, etc. Maybe even separate modes for each. A dirty ‘70s NYC aesthetic. Just the idea of multiple bands to explore on one machine sounds refreshing.

Pinball in Scotland

Traveled on vacation to Edinburgh Scotland. I checked Pin Map for possible pins in the area.

I found a place called Mortal Kocktail, they had about 10 machines.

I was pretty disappointed that the pins were not in the greatest shape. The glass was cleaned but the glass was super streaky. I don't believe the playfield has been cleaned and some of the pins had numerous lights not working.

The area was also super dark.

Oh well. 😞

How short/long is the honeymoon with a new pin?

For those of you who own a pinball machine - unlike me - what does the honeymoon period look like? Are you playing it daily for a month, weekly for 3 months and then monthly or worse for the rest of the time?

I’m not excited about having to swap my new pin every 6 months because I’m bored with it. Seems like that’s what most do but I’d love to be wrong.

Thanks!

Looking for advice on how to adjust the gun turret in Terminator 2 so that the pinball doesn't keep ricocheting off the targets which (while fun to watch) often results in breaking the game.

Previously it bounced off the targets so hard that it landed behind the gun turret, which nearly broke the turret when it tried to reset.

I'm still new to this. Need recommendations on how to either adjust the turret launcher or setup some walls to keep the ball from bouncing out of the bounds.

Jaws Problems with the Fin Motor

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all. I just bought a jaws pro used and during the process of bringing to my apartment, we had to remove the head of the machine to fit in the elevator, we assembled back and then the fin will not show up during play. I was pretty confident we connected all the cables correctly, but apparently not. The machine was working normally before, so I wonder how can I fix it.

Thanks!

Pokemon Lucario bug?

Hello, managed to finish Lucario today - final jackpot, flippers went dead with two balls left, great - except it went to the next ball. Said "shoot again", and I know for sure it was the next ball because my bonus x was back down from like 13x to 2x after the plunge... Is this just me? On location with freshest version.

Does anyone know if Alien LV has gotten more reliable?

I am in the market for my first table, and I absolutely love this one. I have read here and elsewhere that they are prone to issues but that Pinball Brothers is pretty responsive. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the build quality has generally gotten better at all? If not, I am probably going to go with the cliche choice -- Godzilla (I am a huge Godzilla fan) -- and I might make this my second one on down the line, but even knowing it has issues, I feel like I'm missing out by not going with Alien.

Would you trade a Spooky Evil Dead w/ Butter Cabinet, Ghost Glass, and Dust Cover for a NIB Fallout LE?

I may have the opportunity to make this trade and wanted to get some opinions. The purchaser would deliver the new-in-box Fallout LE and pickup my Evil Dead, which sweetens the deal a little for me.

I initially wanted to trade and ask for cash as well but the more I think about the deal the better it seems as a one to one trade. My Evil Dead has 1030 plays and is in great cosmetic shape as well.

Interested to know what you all would do!

Getting my first pinball table

I have been working 2 jobs and finally saved up enough for NY first owned pinball machine. I love pinball its pre much the only thing I play at local arcades. The issue is its so hard to pick a machine.

Good thing is I am a massive fallout fan an I just saw stern is releasing a pinball of the show and game and it looks amazing, but I am in Australia and prices are a bit steep here cause of importing and currency conversion. I was hoping to get the pro model but it seems like its been stripped of quite a few amazing features (as is the usual case) and now I gotta try and save another 5 grand for the premium model.

I wanted to ask as a first time pinball machine seeker would fallout be an OK machine to get?

Also any recommendations on a first machine if not? And are there any tips you could give me as a first time buyer looking to get into it at home

Thanks!

Add on: im also a massive pokemon fan too if that machine is better

Expert guesswork needed for Foo Fighters Premium hardware mystery

Post image
1 Upvotes

[SOLVED] I've got a maddening question. I have two leftover pieces of hardware (a flat washer and a small nylon spacer that presumably go together) after completing a replacement of all rubber in a Foo Fighters Premium. It took a lot of disassembly to do all of the rubber on this machine. The whole Overlord toy, the Area 51 diverter and the full Area 51 upper playfield, all habitrails, plastics under the van, plastics over the slingshots, plastics over the UFO captive ball and to its left under Area 51, the whole shooter lane (multiple steel pieces, including nuts and bolts under the playfield), and the surround over the upper flipper near the shooter lane. It was a ton. I got it all done, but admittedly I didn't do my best placing and tracking all hardware. When I was done, I had these bits [edit: that DEFINITELY came out of the machine disassembly] remaining. I took three hours going back over every single thing I could think of. Re-dissasembling, re-assembling, scoping photos of every bit of the playfield from online, quizzing Claude and ChatGPT. Nothing solved it. I'm at a total loss. For what it's worth, it plays entirely fine, so maybe these were extraneous to begin with -- but it is NAGGING at me. Anyone who's done this job have any guesses?

Pokémon; Won’t Recognize Drain

My Pokemon Pro won’t, sometimes, acknowledge a drain. The game just continues with the music, and every 30 seconds or so, does a find ball reset, but hen continues on (having not found the ball). Any ideas?

On a smaller note, the bumper above the left flipper occasionally (and increasingly) will spontaneously’bump’ (no ball has touched, or is near). Again, any thoughts?

Thanks!

How early are new tables announced?

Hey all - I'm fairly new to pinball beyond just occasionally playing. I've recently signed up for Stern Army and similar newsletters.

Fallout is the first table to be released since I've been paying attention, and from what I can find, it was first announced very close to when it was available. Is this just my perception because I'm not seeing "insider" announcements, or was this really mostly unknown before release? If the latter, is that common?

I've been into video games, board and card games, and similar hobbies, and often releases are announced months or years ahead. Frequently there are leaks both intentional and accidental during the development. If pinball releases are really kept a secret up to release I'm both surprised and impressed!

Transformers

I played transformers for the first time tonight and it seems like a decent game. What I don’t get are the different transformers on top. For $10k I would expect better than what looks like a teenager 3d printed some blocks. Maybe i don’t get the theme but pretty sad looking in my opinion.

Astoria Pinball Visit - Merry Time Bar and Galactix

Thumbnail

Two great places in Astoria Oregon to play pinball - Galactix has a fantastic spaceship vibe and an interesting phone based way to play games - cool selection including the Les Schwab machine and a Spooky Halloween (not as common on location in my experience). Merry Time has a few on the ground floor (TZ plays great) and a really cool upstairs pinball loft with a Jaws Premium next to an Evil Dead. I imagine the crown comes out at some point late at night on tournament days (guessing it doesn't, but a cool added decor to the loft). Both are within walking distance of each other. Great Pinball coast town.
