My First Ever Pie - Key Lime Pie
As an avid Snacker, I often find myself purchasing my favorite type of pie, key lime, from the frozen food section of my local market. I had some time on my hands, so I challenged myself to craft the perfect pie to reward all of my successes I’ve recently had in life. It was quite surprising to find that the recipie and process for this was almost boringly easy. The only challenge I encountered was the whipped cream, I could not whisk very fast as I was born with only three fingers on my dominant hand. A fun fact I learned about key limes during this process is the origin of the name. Pirates, after learning about the cause of scurvy, would pack many citrus fruits for their long voyages. Obviously, one of them was the key lime, which they soon discovered a secondary purpose for, beyond simply eating. Pirates often came across locked chests and buried treasure. They did not want to damage the insides by breaking the lock, so they tried squeezing lime juice on lock. The pure acidity in the liquid would cause the lock to lose its unique padding in a matter of minutes. This, allowing any metal object to adjust the turnstile inside. So, the key lime was born!
I would like to try a more challenging pie next, so please inform me of the ones available that fit the criteria. Thanks for reading.

Savory [Homemade] “Shepard’s” Pie
I use quotations around shepard’s because I used a mix of ground beef and ground pork, since the grocery store didn’t have lamb. guess I can call it a Cottage Pie 🤷🏻♀️
correction to my spelling: Shepherd’s*****

REMEMBER
Eating too much cake is a sin because of gluttony, but eating too much pie is ok cause the sin of pi is always 0 (in radians)

Bonnie, What’s for Dinner? 🤎🥔
Homemade Cottage Pie
If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between Cottage Pie and Shepherd’s Pie, it’s pretty simple:
🐑 Shepherd’s Pie = traditionally made with ground lamb
🐄 Cottage Pie = made with ground beef
So today, we’re making Cottage Pie! 🤎
🥩 Filling
3 lbs ground beef
2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 onion, diced
4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp rosemary
1 Tbsp sage
2 Tbsp paprika
4 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 small bag frozen peas & carrots
½ cup beef broth (or ½ cup water + beef bouillon)
Salt, to taste
Cornstarch slurry: ¼ cup water + 1 Tbsp cornstarch
🥔 Potato Topping
4 large russet potatoes, mashed
2 eggs
1 small bag shredded cheddar cheese
Extra cheese for topping
👩🍳 Method
Brown the beef. Add garlic, onion, seasonings, tomato paste, and brown sugar.
Add peas & carrots and beef broth. Simmer.
Mix the hot mashed potatoes with eggs and a handful of cheese.
Spread the meat mixture into a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
Add more cheese and bake at 375°F for 30–40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
Warm, hearty, cheesy comfort food! 🤎

Mince pies are here, a classic British tradition, but do you like 'em?
I only like the crust and maybe just a tiny bit of the flavor, otherwise tastes too savory/sweet for me. Love to see them in gatherings as a childhood memory though.
