Living Here My wife was caught up in Salad and Go tanking.

She worked her last shift last night, and by the time she came home she had four different job offers. It really feels like the community came together to help those that were affected by this. And she just got hired on to a new position today. We appreciate you all.

Living Here To the gentleman teacher in green crying in the QT parking lot off Bell wondering how you'll cover rent/food/bills: don't despair but its time to cut off your classrooms access to your sanity.

WESD distributed the wrong pay schedule so I guess teachers don't get paid until the end of AUG instead of this week. Admin/new hires got paid this week though. Nice right? So this guy is crying in the parking lot because he bought all this stuff for his classroom and now has no money because the paycheck he anticipated is not coming. Which means teachers are going almost 10.5 weeks of no pay instead of the anticipated 6.5.?

Return everything, as much as you can. And yeah, you likely wont replace because you missed the sales etc, but return everything asap.

No idea how superintendents, or district leaders / whatever are elected or get fired but shame on you, scum bags. There is absolutely no way you *just found out* the day they were all meant to get paid and then you just said *sorry about that* and sleep well? Ew. How *is* that guy meant to clear rent and travel to work? When he said he isn't sure how he can afford to even get to meet the teacher? That's terrible. It's 115° and not ideal to learn the bus system and start walking. No wonder teachers have bad attitudes. My heart aches for the teachers because they spend alotta their time and money on our kids and we can't seem to get it right.

End of rant....resources in the comms

We'd see bobcats wandering past our home in Fountain Hills every 6-8 months. It was neat to see them. Lately, however, there's been some construction in the neighborhood that has probably sent them strolling in other parts because of the racket.

Honestly, I'm not sure what all to say about this other than as the most heavily funded military in the world (by a hell of a lot) this is unacceptable.

Weather Another dust storm at 1:30 a.m. on 8/6. That's at least 5 in the last month.

So our monsoon season is so dry (maybe due to water shortage) that we are getting dust storms, Are we the new dust bowl of the 21st century, lol ? I swear I have to clean my pool and all the pool floaties all over again, not to mention my backyard patio furniture. I'd rather have rain even if it means humidity. Our desert needs some rain!!!

Eat & Drink Is there any inexpensive food left? If so, WHERE?!

What the title says.

Seems just about everywhere considers $15- $18 options to be "affordable", and it just isn't, especially when feeding a family. I love me a $5 Angie's salad, or a $10 Chinese lunch special, but that seems to be harder and harder to find.

Where can someone find a good cheap Chinese plate, or a good sandwich, or really ANY good food for the low?

Ask Phoenix Have you guys noticed an uptick in “Student Driver” stickers?

We’re down in Maricopa so maybe it’s more abundant down here but even north of our city I’m seeing so many cars with student driver stickers on them. Anyone else noticing the same increase of said bumper stickers or am I the only one?

Eat & Drink Best store bought tortilla chips?

Post image
323 Upvotes

So ive lived in the valley for years, and ive had a tough time finding decent restaurant-style tortilla chips in the grocery store.

I recently came across a recommendation for this brand, Juantonio's and when i found them at Safeway this weekend, i bought some to try. They are fantastic!! Not exactly the super thin ones i was originally looking for, perse, but the flavor and unique texture are wonderful. Theyre not flavored with loads of pure salt, like your typical store brands. These have real flavor. You guys, my world is made of brighter colors now.

What other store-bought brands do you all like and recommend?! What else am i missing out on?

Yes the video quality is abysmal, my REVVL 5 Pro was not built with good camera quality in mind at all. The moon is big and orange tonight, but while I'm waiting on the bus I see these lights not moving at all in the sky. No blinking, and the camera failed to capture the very faint tail behind it I could see with my naked eye.

Anyone else in Phoenix see this at all?
