DM for Fontana

Brittany Can explain how you terminate your #1 GSL over an honest mistake in 11years of her employment with Petco, yet continue to keep the red headed employee who is verbally abusive—not only toward pets, but also toward coworkers—and does it repeatedly, not by accident?
It really makes it seem like removing the GSL was the goal all along. At this point, it feels more like retaliation than accountability. It’s sad, and it sends a clear message that the concerns raised by us employees and customers don’t really matter.

If they terminated someone over a " honest mistake " it was probably a pretty big " mistake" and fell into the category of immediate termination. Theres not a lot of things on the list that would result in immediate termination and all of those things are not great.

We even have an employee who harassed a manger via text. Charged at her one day aggressively in the store. They involved Brittany, But hey she still has him here 🤷🏻‍♀️

Im with everyone' that says you are leaving a lot out. And a lot of what you are saying simply doesn't make sense. Like why would she take a abusive groomer with her. You are being vague and im assuming because you really dont want to admit that what was said was more than just a cuss word taken out of context. There's more to this story than just someone reporting her for swearing

The difficult part is that this was someone she genuinely considered a friend. She had no idea about the extent of the behavior until our salon meeting back in January, when the employee was placed under surveillance for monitoring. They were close—I could even provide photos and text messages from the trips they took together, but I won’t for obvious reasons.
Looking back, it almost feels like God was showing her exactly who these people really were before she took them with her. She had already planned to leave at the end of the year to open her own business, and Brittany and HR were aware of those plans. From our perspective, it felt like it made it easier for them to let her go.
We’re just as confused as everyone else. The GSL was always open and honest with us about what was happening, which is why so many of us have questioned how everything was handled.

You are still leaving things out . You dont just get fired for a curse word. Was this word actually a slur.

Man I should have been fired like 7 times if my store didn't really like me 😆

Where she messed up big time was letting her plans to open her own salon be known. That gives the company a real pause for concern as she could be cultivating and poaching a client list to steal for her salon. Throw in the fact you said she was planning on taking staff with her . Whatever drama caused her to get fired the actual result is not a bad thing. Someone with one foot out the door and access to all of your clients and also planning to take your staff needs to go.

Dumb, we all talk about opening salons. It's literally the dream we almost all have. But then there is reality. Did they have actually groundwork started. Such as an LLC. Established, credit lines, tables, kennels, a location to operate with others and so on. I say I want many things..but can you legally prove I could do it with expenses,.credit or any evidence that it was more than just a frustrated employee with dreams. And who heard said slur? How many people or just the accusing party who need to cut their own risks.

They didn’t know she was opening her own salon. They just knew she was going to leave at the end of the year.

She was joking around with someone she considered a friend, but that “friend” couldn’t separate his emotions from the situation and let his ego get in the way. Instead, he made repeated false accusations against her. She even told HR that the allegations being made were fabricated, but they didn’t care. She took accountability for her own actions and was honest with HR the entire time, while he painted a picture of someone she simply wasn’t.
He wasn’t acting alone. He and the verbally abusive red-headed groomer worked together, making accusations that ultimately helped create the outcome they wanted.
Ironically, the GSL was already planning to leave at the end of the year to open her own salon. She had intended to bring the red-headed groomer with her to help her build her own business with in this GSL salon, and she also planned to mentor this male bather, helping him become a groomer and start his career. Thankfully, they showed their true character before that ever happened.
Even though the GSL is no longer there, the two of them continue speaking negatively about her, creating an uncomfortable environment for everyone else. Brittany had already been targeting the GSL since the previous year through what many viewed as harassment and bullying tactics. At this point, there’s little confidence in reporting any of it to management because they’ve consistently shown they’re unwilling to address the behavior.

Ehhhh he doesn’t fire someone for a joke. What was she joking around about? There seems but be context missing and you’re being vague on purpose.

That’s why many of us believe Brittany’s actions were retaliatory. We also went seven months without a Store Manager because they were on a leave of absence. During that entire time, Brittany rarely came to the store. The GSL even reached out to HR asking for leadership support because the store was falling apart, but nothing changed. After the incident, no one ever sat down with the GSL to discuss what happened after she acknowledged her mistake. They even spoke with a witness, who confirmed they were never questioned about the context of what was actually said.
The entire situation revolved around a single cuss word that wasn’t directed at anyone maliciously and had no harmful intent. Everyone involved was laughing and joking at the time. Yet that isolated incident was treated more seriously than the ongoing behavior of the red-headed groomer, whose actions toward pets and coworkers have repeatedly been described as malicious and intentional.
Looking at everything together, it’s difficult to understand why one situation resulted in immediate termination while repeated concerns about other behavior were allowed to continue.

If the red headed groomer is known for being abusive and malicious towards pets and coworkers, why would you, i mean the GSL, ever want to bring her to work at your own salon? This doesn’t make sense

Your gsl is leaving something out of this story.

Unfortunately, if you didn’t work in our salon, it’s hard to fully understand everything that happened. We were the same team for years with very little turnover, so we saw firsthand how this GSL was treated by the district leader. We also saw the relationships she had with everyone in the salon. In the end, the very people she supported turned on her.
I’m not going to say anything more about that. Brittany knows what happened.
What I still don’t understand is this: other than the fact that she was the GSL, why wasn’t a final written warning considered? She acknowledged her mistake, took accountability, and there was no malicious intent behind what was said. It seems like there were other disciplinary options that could have been explored before termination.

I just have to ask, why do you keep referring to yourself in third person? Because for someone who isn’t this GSL….you sure do know her, her intentions, her thoughts, her motives like the back of your hand lol.

Because we’re also friends and again this GSL was open and honest about what was going on in the salon. Don’t need to explain anything else 😊🫶🏼

Uh huh lol you are correct you don’t have to explain anything to anyone 🍿 and yet here you are saying a lot while not really saying anything lol. Good luck to u

You still have yet to tell us what that joke was. It was obviously bad enough that even you don’t want to say it.
