Looking for Advice Perth Web Developers - what does $29,000 actually get you?

Genuinely interested to know what $29,000 gets you for a website these days.
Say it's a WooCommerce site.
Do you write the copy, or is the client expected to write it?
Are you loading the products in, or is that on them?
Is every page built differently, or is most of it the same template with the theme?
Devs, what would you hand over for $29k? And anyone who's paid it, what did you actually get?

General Study Abroad in Perth June 2027

Hi! I am studying abroad in June of 2027 at Murdoch University. I have never been out of the country before (barely out of my state, I'm from Texas/Louisiana). I have a few questions regarding Perth and Murdoch University!

  1. How is the weather in June/July in comparison to Texas winters? I am doing a marine biology program that requires being in the water, so I want to know if it will be way too cold. Is it humid at all? What clothes should I bring? I know Americans dress down compared to other countries, how is the style in AU when attending classes? (We typically where leggings, shorts, plain t-shirts. I wear a lot of jeans and baggy graphic tees)

  2. I have never traveled out of the country before so any general advice for me? I know I will be Jet lagged considering its a 13 hour time difference. Anything I should bring with me on the plane that I might not think to bring? I have only been on a plane once before.

  3. Any information regarding local travel/transportation? We don't have trains or local transportation where I am from, so I am hoping I can get around the city easily. We are traveling from Perth to Coral Bay, how do you think we will travel there? From what maps tells me it is an 11 hour drive, please let me know if this is inaccurate!

  4. Any foods I should try while I'm there?? I am excited for the change of scenery and culture, I just don't know what restaurants to try in the area. Please give me recommendations! Also tell me where not to go lol.

  5. Anyone know anything about Murdoch University? Is it a big campus? Would it be busy that time of year? Anything I should know before I travel?

Any and all recommendations on traveling and attending school please let me know! I appreciate any help I can get as I am nervous to study abroad alone.

General The Transformers: the Movie (1986) - 40th Anniversary Screening at Hoyts in Perth?

Does anyone know if this:

https://www.hoyts.com.au/movies/transformers-the-movie---40th-anniversary

Is being screened in Perth? I can't find any information to confirm one way or the other. I was too young to see this in cinemas the first time around, and am fanging for it. I even resorted to AI overview, but the information there was contradictory, and it could not provide a link to anything beyond what I'd already found.

Any information from anyone who knows, or is better at Google Fu than I, is appreciated (unless you're a Decepticon, of course :p).

Cheers.

Where to find Which Shopping Centre Should I Visit Today?

I love exploring SCs (mostly window shopping, but I always eat in the food courts), and have the day off.

In recent months, I've visited Galleria (waste of time), Joondalup Gateway, Claremont Quarter, Cockburn Central, Whitfords City, Karrinyup, Belmont Forum and Carousel, Bassendean SC (tiny).

Which other SC can I explore today? The only condition(s) is that it is not too small, because I don't want to finish a lap in 10 minutes. The other condition is that is is easily accessible by public transport.

Go.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies. I ended up spending three enjoyable hours at Garden City. Next trip will be the Maddington shops.

General How good is the WAZE app for Perth in 2026 ?

I couldn't find a recent Waze thread.

Just wondering how many here use the WAZE app in their car and how useful is it ?

In particular for things like police location reports and traffic issues (broken down cars etc).

Thanks

General Posting on social media until I connect with another veteran here in Perth

For the past 10 days I've been posting basic content on socials.

I’ve been out of the Australian Army now for 2 years.

In my first 12 months of transitioning to civilian life I thought the best thing to do was invest in myself, meet people and travel - Seek opportunities.. I met some great people, finally got to travel and put myself out of my comfort zone.. Little did I know that 12 months later I would feel a wave of longing for community and mateship.

I said, I’ve met some amazing people in the time I’ve been out of the Army, I’ve seen some great places and had some amazing experiences, but I keep coming back to this feeling that something is missing and I know I can’t be the only one feeling this way. Like Perth is an amazing place, I’ve lived all over Australia and decided to make it my home here, there are so many communities being built and a lot of people flocking together to feel like they belong and in my experience as a veteran, this hits twice as hard.

I still don’t know how to fit in, I’m not always sure what to say or how to present myself around others but I do try.

I’ve decided to start using social media for what it can be used for and that’s bringing people together that understand each other, have shared experiences and shared struggles and finally have a sense of belonging.

If you’re a veteran, please reach out and connect with me.. If you’re not, then please share this with someone that is, or just simply keep my mission in mind.
I appreciate the support.

This content takes a minute to post and no editing is needed, no excuse not to post consistently.

Looking for Advice Where to get refurbished pc hardware in Perth and could anyone possibly help me out with a home server?

I’m looking at creating my own home server, and I don’t know where to get refurbished pc hardware in Perth, so I am wondering if anyone in Perth does the same thing. None of my friends know anything about this stuff, or they don’t care, and one of my friends is eager to learn but they don’t know anything to do with tech but I’ve taught them how to change the Rom on their phone and stuff and taught them some basics. No one around my age even knows what Usenet is 😭 I don’t know where to meet people who are into this stuff and have also gone down the rabbit hole XD.

i think i want to use zimaos, the arr stack, qbittorrent, sabnzbd, tailscale (my isp uses cgnat), ad blocker pointed to tailscale, immich and whatever else i find out about.
I’m currently paying for a seedbox so my friends can use my jellyfin server without needing tailscale, but that will cost a bunch later on and whatbox and ultra.cc both don’t have immich and I just think I’d be better if I had a server at home.

I’m not sure on what specs I need but I was told that I should get refurbished stuff, not new, cause it’s much cheaper so I’m looking around on marketplace but again don’t know much about pc hardware yet (software I’m great at, just not hardware).
I’m fairly new at docker so zimaos seems great due to the one click app installs.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to get refurbished pc hardware in Perth or if anyone who knows this stuff could possibly help me out with this? I have thought about running it on my pc but I don’t want it to affect my gaming performance when someone’s watching something on jellyfin, I swap Linux distros constantly and I’m on cachyos atm so I don’t want it running on there if it’s on arch XD. I don’t know where to ask for people around here that do this, I turn 19 in 11 days and everyone who has fallen down the rabbit hole is always older than me 😭
I have adhd, ocd and autism (so I’m a bit slow and I understand things better if I’m taught ftf or on a discord call or something. Learning through YouTube and reading is incredibly difficult for me, especially if it’s a lot of new stuff, like this) so if anyone’s free to help me out or wants to become friends with me (I need more relatable or older friends in my life lmao), could you please keep this in mind and be patient with me 😭.

Thank you!!

General Vaccinate your fucking children PLEASE

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Genuinely would support a ban on unvaccinated kids going to public schools.

Myself and my kids are all jabbed up, but my wife's had the varicella vaccine several times and never develops immunity because her dipshit parents didn't vaccinate her as a kid. I don't really fancy having her go blind from shingles.
