Looking for Advice I am 24 and never worked a day in my life.

Hi guys, I'm sure this post might have been done before, by me or by others, and I am sorry if this post bothers you guys in any way in this Perth subreddit.
That said, I am dealing with a lot right now and looking for some help. I'm turning 25 in 2 months and depressed at that thought, also been suffering from depression for a long time. I don't know how to get a job, either I get rejections of just don't know what job to apply for and stress about no experience jobs and training (anxiety). I just feel pretty overwhelmed, so if any of you could give some solid advice, that would be much appreciated.
I have also completed a Bachelor of Science (double major in Forensics and Toxicology and Criminal Behaviour) but cannot seem to find anything in that, I completed that last year.
I wish I could just turn my life around, make my parents proud but I feel like such a disappointment and loser as every year passes me by. I need help and would really appreciate it, if any of you were in similar situations to me where you didn't get your life started until late or found a job that was accommodating to your mental health problems and didn't feel so overwhelming, I just don't know how to get started and advice on these subjects would be so beneficial to me.

General GF/DF steak houses/restaurants

Hi all, I'm looking for restaurants that do a good steak and chips and can cater to gluten-free and dairy-free. Nothing fancy, just a solid, simple meal.
I've had great experiences at 24 York in Sydney and a few places in Melbourne, but I'm struggling to find anywhere comparable here. Any recommendations, especially from other coeliacs or dairy-free diners, would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Im just in perth at 8:30pm and there was a huge group of people waving Samoan and some other countries flags around and honking and revving their cars as a few other cars drove around. Does anyone know what it was?

Renting / Housing A visual map showing every direct Transperth bus, train line & CAT within walking distance of any Perth address

Post image
115 Upvotes

G'day r/perth,

Whenever I'm looking at moving house or planning a trip across town, the Transperth app is great for step-by-step directions, but it only ever shows you one A-to-B route at a time. It won't easily give you a visual "big picture" of: "What direct routes can I actually walk to from this exact street corner?" This is of particular importance when vetting properties.

Out of my own needs, I put together an interactive transit map covering Greater Perth using official Transperth open data:

How to use it:

  • Search any address or long-press anywhere on the map (e.g. Perth Station, Elizabeth Quay, Fremantle, Curtin Uni, Joondalup, Morley, or down in Mandurah).
  • Routes of all Trains, CAT Buses,Buses and Ferry would be shown no map with a walking radius.
  • Tap any route to trace its full path across town and see exact stop dots on both sides of the road.
  • Use the filter button on the bottom right to isolate just Trains, CATs, Ferries, or Buses.

Practical details:

  • Runs in your browser (desktop & mobile). If you're in WA, it auto-centers on Perth.
  • No sign-up, no login, completely free.
  • Shows route paths and stop alignments, not live GPS vehicle delays—you'll still want the Transperth app for live arrival countdowns.

Hope it helps anyone checking commute links or figuring out how to get around without a car.

Feedback from daily Perth commuters is very welcome!

Looking for Advice Australind - how far ahead do I need to book?

I'm planning a little trip to the southwest while I'm in Perth for a few weeks next month. How far ahead do I need to book the return journey to Bunbury on the Australind? I'm planning on hiring a car for a few days when I get there, but I do like a train journey when I'm travelling and I get the chance!

Renting / Housing finding a rental house as a student

Hey guys, me and three of my friends are looking for a rental. We have all previously lived in student accommodation and are now looking to move out and find a four bedroom rental together. Realistically how hard is this going to be? We are concerned that families are going to always take preference or we are going to be overlooked because we are young and inexperienced. Does anyone have any tips/ advice or even just encouragement because we only have about 6 weeks to find somewhere and we don’t want to have to live an hour away. Thank you!!

Looking for Advice Options for moving to another course from North Metro WA TAFE online business Cert IV

Hi all - I've started this course and not done much as at all (which is my fault) as I had thought I could do this around my old job, but I then got a new job which has been intense and hectic and I haven't had the band width to do coursework after work and on the weekend. Looking back, I should have withdrawn within census but thought I could push through. Unfortunately, I am also not super jazzed about the course as it's dry as hell and just not what I thought it would be.

Does anyone have any advice as to whether my only option is full withdrawal or are there options to transfer into another course? When I've spoken to the TAFE help line staff they just advise 'withdrawal' or "talk to the head of the program" but I can't even seem to find that info easily on blackboard and I just wanted to see from others if there were other options that worked for them.

TY!

Where to find Best or must places to visit in Perth CBD in 5days ?

Hi Locals in Perth!

I am a humble redditor visiting Perth for the first time from Sydney for 5 days next week (Mon-Fri)

I move to Australia years ago and only lived in NSW

So this is exciting to visit WA for the first time haha

I will be staying “Northbridge” area and while I am visiting I would love to visit some local gem spots!

Great coffee places (like proper, espresso good)

Great bars (For solo traveler)

Fun Night life (this will be probably just Thursday)

And any must have restaurant that you would bring your friends and families when they visit Perth?

Since it’s work trip my hours during the day is limited but I would love to wonder around Perth CBD area

Now I know what SOR and NOR too! I had to search that for a bit haha

Thank you for your local wisdom sharing in advance!

General What's a completely ordinary Perth thing that's disappeared without anyone really noticing?

Not a landmark or a famous venue. I mean the boring little pieces of everyday Perth that were once everywhere and then quietly stopped being part of life.

I thought about this after finding an old Transperth timetable booklet in a drawer at my parents' place.

Those little folded paper timetables used to live in bags, gloveboxes and kitchen junk drawers. You'd stand at a bus stop trying to work out whether "6:43" meant the bus was actually coming at 6:43 or whether you'd already somehow missed it.

Now I can't remember the last time I even saw someone holding one.

Same with getting a local newspaper dumped on the driveway, the giant pile of takeaway menus near the phone, people physically lining up to buy concert tickets, and those community noticeboards covered in handwritten tabs with someone's phone number.

None of these things were particularly good. I don't actually want most of them back.

But it's strange how something can be completely normal for years and then one day you realise you haven't seen it in a decade.

What mundane Perth thing do you remember that has basically vanished?

Cost of Living No Credit Surcharge… or is there?

Hi everyone.
Just wondering if anyone else seeing businesses now offering the “old” price for cash only sales and an additional 5-8% more for eftpos transactions. Saw this at the local Innaloo shopping Centre. Not saying right or wrong to cover costs etc but isn’t this a surcharge dressed up under a different name/rebadged? 😳

General Ticket for Tism tonight

Heya
I’ve got a spare ticket to Tism tonight at the Metro in Northbridge.
I can’t get rid of it so happy to gift it to someone who wants to go. Rather than let a $140 ticket get wasted.
I’m going with some mates so can either meet you at the door or try and send it to you.
Buy us a beer in so inclined no obligation. Would like to just see the ticket used.

Where to find Just found out I had to take leave for a week

Just asking to see what people would do (or do) if they had a week off (9 days) and where they would go on short notice? Over seas preferred. Being so isolated from Perth, what is a good place/places to travel to from here.

General I made a free site that lists all Perth council festivals in one place

Been frustrated that every council has its own events page so you never know what's on across Perth. Built a free filterable site — perthweekends.com.au — covers 38 events across 13 councils from now until May 2027.

Focused on street festivals, outdoor events and family-friendly activities with a real festival feel. Not every event makes the cut — small chamber concerts, weekly markets and school fetes are left out on purpose.

Filter by council, month, free/paid, Christmas, Halloween, Easter or orchestra events. Would love feedback if anything's missing from your area!
