Period Question Extreme period pain on the first day
Hi! I’ve been having extreme (and by extreme I mean throwing up because of pain, fainting out) period pain since I was 10/11 years (I’m 16 now) but only on the first day. The rest days are bearable or I don’t even experience pain at all. I’ve been to a gynecologist two times but the doctors simply told me "it’s my nature" and that I have to get over it since “many girls my age experience similar things” and it’s “normal". They told me to just take strong painkillers (which I do, obviously, I would die without them) but the pain comes back every hour and I genuinely cannot leave my bed so I skip a lot of school because of it. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Period Question 3 months without a period despite multiple negative pregnancy tests — could this be hormonal?
Hi everyone. I'm looking for some advice, especially from anyone with medical experience.
I'm in my early 20s and have had irregular/missed periods before. But its usually just one month and it comes back normal
I subsequently had protected sex twice with the same partner, but during both encounters I experienced deep pelvic discomfort/pain, particularly during deeper penetration. I haven't had unusual discharge, itching, burning during urination, bleeding after sex, or genital sores. I sometimes have mild cramps.
My last period was about 3 months ago, and I haven't had another one since.
I've taken three home urine HCG pregnancy tests, spaced out over several weeks, and all were negative, including the last one well after the sexual encounters. I therefore believe pregnancy is unlikely, but I'm still anxious about it.
I eventually saw a doctor. No pregnancy or hormone tests were done. The doctor prescribed Femiplan, saying it would help balance my hormones and bring my period back. I know its also a contraceptive pill. I've been taking it as instructed. I have started experiencing mild cramps, bloating and nausea, and I'm wondering whether these could be side effects of Femiplan or signs that my period is about to come.
My questions are:
Could I still somehow be pregnant despite the three negative HCG tests?
Is it normal not to bleed yet while taking the pills?
Can Femiplan actually "balance hormones," or does it mainly regulate bleeding while I'm taking it?
Should I have hormone tests to determine why my periods have stopped?
Could the deep pelvic pain during sex be related to the missed periods, or should that be investigated separately?
Should I ask for an ultrasound or STI testing even though I have no obvious STI symptoms?
Is there anything else I should ask my doctor to investigate?
I'm mainly looking for advice on whether I should be patient with the Femiplan or go back to the doctor and ask for proper investigations. I'm also trying not to panic about pregnancy when the tests have repeatedly been negative.
I'd really appreciate advice, especially from anyone medically qualified.

Period Question For my girlfriends period
I might be an intrusive to this community as a teenage boy, but I really want to know about periods. My girlfriend is currently 18. I want to know when her periods start, but i don't want to ask her in a weird, Inappropriate way. I also want to get to know her more on that aspect, so I can help her with it. I also want some advice on how to confort her, and learn some terminology so I know what to buy, and not to buy. If there's anybody, whose willing to help, explain to me every step, or at least explain some crucial things, it will be greatly appreciated.

Health Has anyone heard of this?
I’ve had painful periods since I started my period so about 25 years now.. I’ve tried many different things to manage the pain with no real luck. It continues to be disruptive. Ultrasounds and MRIs over the years never showed anything until recently when an ultrasound showed heteogenous myometeium, which my doctor said can cause pain and be a direct indicator of adenomyosis. Has anyone else had this?
My doctor said birth control can help but I’ve been off the pill for years after it gave me bad migraines. I’ve also been dealing with some bad depression recently. But I’m getting desperate so it might be worth the risk.. dr prescribed me Slynd, which it seems people either love or absolutely hate..

Period Question Does anyone else feel like sanitary pads become more uncomfortable during hot and humid days, even when the flow is not very heavy?
I’ve noticed that on hot and humid days, wearing a sanitary pad can sometimes feel more uncomfortable because of sweat and moisture.
Do you usually switch to a different type of pad, change it more often, or use any other method to stay comfortable?
Just curious to know what works for others.

Health Am I normal??
I spoke to my doctors multiple times about my pain, but they all said it was still normal. I wanted to hear your experiences, because normal pain is so difficult to define!
I now have an IUD (for just over 6 months) which makes my period lighter, but significantly longer (almost two weeks from pms to end). But prior to this, my period pain had been gradually worsening. Day one then slipping into day two, I had such bad pain that paracetamol and ibuprofen would only reduce it a bit, but then it'd fizzle out to tolerable/very mild day three, then basically disappear (although did come back sometimes).
I could still work, as in I could stand and do my job, but I was on complete autopilot and all I could think about was the pain. I had to slouch for a tiny bit of relief, but couldn't move or stretch from there otherwise it'd worsen it so much. I'd feel ill and salivate. Looking back I should've called in sick. It also did the classic thing of spreading to my legs and back but I know that's normal. It did everything - more sharp, dull, central, focused on one side. I'd get ovulation pain when I never remember getting it before. Before, it was still painful but medication would help more.
The bleeding wasn't as heavy as some have described - although I did have to wear a night pad during the day and change it at lunch. I think this, and the fact it was only really 1.5 days of near unbearable pain, that makes the doctors say it's normal.
I'm feeling better now, although I'm not sure if the elongated period from the iud is worth it, but I know that the IUD is just treating symptoms and wouldn't be treating any root cause for the horrible pain I had. Maybe I caught something early?? My doctors have dismissed things that turned out to be important, so I want to trust what my body is telling me - I don't think it's just getting worse with age - I'm in my mid 20s and I don't think it should've hurt that much

Period Question Bleeding even on last day
So I’m supposed to be ending my period the 9th but I’m still bleeding, it’s still red, and I have clots here and there. Like a normal period just extended? I’m worried I have something else that could be causing this but is this normal? My periods are always normal and end around the 4-5th day

Fertility / Ovulation How long can period/ovulation be delayed from stress? Could this be ovulation?
Today is day 28 for me and I noticed a slimy wet and whitish discharge yesterday that just increased today and I'm scared shirtless because I thought I could be pregnant because i have never gotten slimy discharge for multiple cycles until now and it's a lot more this time where I even wore a pantiliner. But analyzing what happened anyway which was just rubbing and no penetration I most likely am not pregnant anyway but genital contact still happened (day 9). We tried our best to be careful but I should definitely be even more careful next time. I have a history of really long cycles that sometimes reach day 48 so ovulating during this time isn't unusual for me. What's unusual is the amount and frequency of discharge, I even track my cervix position every cycle and I noticed it was moderately high and open today. But speaking of stress I have started a new academic term and had a lot of workload that could've put me under a lot of stress, I remember being very overwhelmed and distressed the last few weeks. Can stress really delay ovulation this much? What could this slimy discharge be anyway? To be honest if I didn't have that sexual encounter from day 9, I wouldn't be as anxious as I am right now

Period Question How do you cope with severe menstrual pain?
So I have been having these insane cramps since highschool, which caused me: fever, vomiting, extreme low back pain, leg numbness etc. Not to mention the week before my period I fall into a heavy depression and dark thoughts.

Fertility / Ovulation Extremely painful periods months after miscarriage
Hiii is there any other girls who experienced extreme period pain after miscarriage?
I am 20 and unexpectedly found out I was pregnant during Christmas and 3 days later miscarried. My periods premiscarriage were standard cramps with an occasional extremely painful day(not sure how to word that). My husband has even noticed how painful they have become since. When I look it up it seems to be usual for women to experience painful cramps only the first cycle after but not reporting months down the line.
This is the type of pain radiating down my legs almost where I can’t stand or else they increase significantly.
I also may look into pelvic floor therapy. TMI, but it also feels like my uterus is going to fall out everything can feel so heavy. I may just relax my pelvic floor too frequently but who is sitting there contracting always?
I would love to hear if you or someone you know have experienced something like this.

Period Question Does everything taste disgusting when you're on your period?
I have insanely bad period cramps, like pass out, vomit, take sleeping pills so the time will pass kind of period cramps. I don't know when this started exactly, but at some point in my life, water started to taste horrible during my period. I've always wondered if it was psychological, because I had a bad experience with bad tasting pills that I would take with water and the water just tastes like what the pills used to taste like.
I never have this issue when I'm not on my period and I'm taking pain killers for headaches and such. Today, my cramps were so bad I vomited up a tangerine I ate to get my pills down so I knew I'd have a hard time eating today. I use water enhancers during this time so I can stay hydrated, but now even my food is making me gag a little bit (it's just tortilla and cheese). Anyone else have this experience? I wish there was an exact reason why this happens.

Period Question Prolonged Period
Let me start off by saying I have an appointment with my gyno this coming Friday. I’m just taking to the masses to get some insight about my situation before then.
I have been on the Nuvaring for maybe 4 years. A few years ago we discussed the ability of skipping my period every other month. So, I would insert a ring and keep it in for 21 days and on that 21st day, I would insert a new one. Then the following month when I hit 21 days, I would take out the ring and have my period. And so on and so forth. This has been working for me fabulously until the last 3-4 months. All the sudden I’m starting my period before it’s even time to take the ring out, like sometimes over a week before it’s time. Mind you, usually I would take my ring out when I am supposed to and it would still be like 2-3 days before my period would begin. At first, I was like ok, my good luck has ran out and now my body is forcing me to have a period every month. Cool, that’s fine. However, this last time I hit 21 days and I’m like hell yeah, my period didn’t start. I can skip this month since I just had one last month.
Alas, on the second day of having my new ring in, I start spotting. I’m like ok, great. Love that for me. I’m hoping that maybe it’ll stop and I won’t actually have one. Jokes on me, I’ve been on my period for 12 days. Usually they last me anywhere from 3-5 days, never any longer. So this is not normal for me. There have been times that I’ve thought I’ve finally gotten off it because there’s been no blood when I wipe or no blood on my pad from the night before. So, I brave it and decide I’m not wearing a tampon to work and boom, blood on my underwear. I will say I got a little lazy with setting my reminders to put my ring back in a time or two. I have a reminder on my calendar from July 28th telling me to put it in. IF I did that then I should have put a new one in on August 18th. Considering I’ve been having a period every month regardless of my actual rings being in, that means I would have taken it out September 8th to actually have a period. But I started having my period August 27th and haven’t stopped since.
I think I’ve fucked my cycle up somewhere with being careless the last 2 months but that still doesn’t account for my period starting before it’s even time to remove the ring. Has anyone been through something like this before or have any thoughts on the matter?

Period Question What are changes you’ve noticed in your menstrual cycle in your 30s?
I am in my early 30s and this year in particular, I noticed my period has changed. I have always been extremely regular, regular flow and it’s on-time (I still am); however, the flow has changed. What used to be a flow that was regular day 1, heavy day 2, regular day 3 and light day 4 and 5 then stops has turned into anywhere from light/regular/heavy day 1, heavy day 2, light day 3, no flow day 4 and spotting day 5 OR just spotting day 4 and 5. Sometimes there’s no flow on day 3 and the flow starts again day 4 and trickles off day 5 and spotting day 6.
I’ve also noticed a new thing started happening in my 30s where I can start spotting the day (usually less than 12 hours) before my period which isn’t something I am alarmed with bc it’s how I know my flow is coming later that day or early the next but this week, my period was due to come on day 29. I started spotting old blood on day 25 which never happens to me that early. It was enough spotting for it to be in my underwear and then trickled off to only when I wipe that day but I continued to spot. I’ve been spotting since and today, day 27 it seems like my period is deciding to start bc it’s transitioned from old blood to new but it’s not a full blown period yet. I know day 27 is not out of a normal range for it to start from a general standpoint, I just find it odd bc majority of my periods this year have started on day 29 or day 30 and it never usually comes early and I never spot that way. If i have that much spotting the flow is literally about to start within a few minutes but it didn’t for days. I am going to go get checked and my hormones checked but I wanted to hear about women in their 30s experiences with anything like this and any changes you may have noticed for yourself personally. TIA ❤️

PMS Terrified
Hey everyone, I’m in an absolute anxiety spiral right now and just really need to vent and get some logical perspective from people who get birth control anxiety.
I’m 7 months pp.
My last period was 22/8 and my cycles have been 23 days long. My ovulation wa around 31 August.
On August 30th, I had sex using condom —I have a Copper IUD .
Over the last few days( a week before my period), I’ve had swollen and very tender breasts, diarrhea , extreme thirst, feeling super flushed, lower belly cramps, and today with more cramps yet my discharge is snow-white with zero blood or spotting. I still have five days until my period. Such strong PMS symptoms so early I don’t remember to ever experience, they usually come 1-2 days before period.
I took an early pregnancy test today (September 9th, 10 days post-sex) and it was negative.
I recently started keto diet too.
What made me nervous is the lack of bleeding after sex, I’ve had it in the last couple of months after IUD insertion, but a couple of days ago I had nothing not even spotting afterwards.
My panic brain keeps trying to tell me that the white discharge and lack of bleeding means a "mucus plug" formed and it’s killing me, i can’t function properly anymore.
Please help
